That Gary sure gets around! Apache Junction and Tortilla Flats! Tortilla Flats...I have heard of that place before though I don't know where? Western Chef..galloping gourmet? No, must be in a cowboy movie or sumpin'. Anyhow, sounds like a hoot. Well, he deserves to get some R & R...roamin' and relaxin'. He's worked hard all his life.
Well, today is another red letter day...the temperature is nudging 0 deg C and the sun is shinnin' ...life just don't get better than that. Life truly is a beer commercial!
Speaking of beer, I had a 'Two Rivers' beer the other day, its locally made, ans I could tell because the first beer tasted like the Red River and the secod tasted like the Assiniboine River! I can't say that around Al because he has shares in Two Rivers!
The temperature was about 2 deg c, last night and we decided to barbecue. a nittle nippy, but them steaks is gooood eatin'! couldn't see much out there and I burned the steaks a little, but with mushrooms and baked potatoes and a bottle of Lindemans bin 52 Cabernet Sauvignon on the table ...it was a meal fit for royalty.
Something funny happened in Canada this week. Stephen Harper, the old Reformist now running for the head of the new Conservative party of Canada, sent a letter to the aboriginal heads from all the provinces congratulating them on a 'special' day for Indians.......Unfortunately it turned out to be a special occasion for EAST INDIANS. Bwahahahaha.
I finally got Dreamweaver connected to the MTS web host and discovered the pages that Gary put up when he was here last spring.....how sweet it is. Actually with Windows XP it was not hard to make the connecion at all..I just put in the name of the host FTP.mts.net and it did the rest. Gary, ya oughta try this dreamweaver, its slick!
Well, better go and do the NYT x-word puz...Catherine is getting anxious to do it.
I see that good old Joel blogged! Good for you son! I can read about your ICK anytime but the whole thing sounds fishy to me! I hope you get it all straightened out soon.
KEEP ON (START SOME OF YOU) BLOGGING!

Hello from sunny Winnipeg! It's a blistering 5 deg c outside...well, blistering for us! It has been real nice the last two or so weeks. The snow is melting faster than you can say "wardrobe malfunction". As a matter of fact, I heard the water running down the downspout outside all night, so it must have been warm. It went up to about 10 deg c yesterday. Real messy driving.
Knitting a dream...Dreamweaver...
My first web design class was on Thursday. 'Dreamweaver' and 'fireworks' are the programs that are used in this class. Wow, its amazing what can be done....dreamworks is a dream. Anyhow, I went to the bookstore at the U of M and bought the Macromedia Studio MX 2004 'education version'.....it includes dreamweaver, fireworks, flash, freehand, and coldfusion, all mx 2004 editions. It will give me the functionality for every aspect of web design and developement using this softwares full spectrum of internet solutions. heehee. It was a pretty good deal. You don't have to know much code, since the pafe you design is converted to hyper text all automatically. Also, you can quickly check exactly how your work is going to look on the web by just pressing a button...neat huh? If you want to see a neat web page go to www.cbcradio3.com ...now that is neat!
25th wedding anniversary...
Not ours but Lois and Brett's.... We were at their wedding and it seems like , well 25 years ago. Anyways they are planning an anniversary party for the beginning of July in beautiful residential, laid-back, Hippielific New Westminster. I think that we might just go to that! It sounds like a lot of fun and I miss Lois's wonderful laugh. Lois and Brett are real nice people and it sure would be good to see them again. Catherine and I have not seen them since they were here for the Pan-am games in 1999....so its been ...no I'm wrong...we saw them in 2001, we went there the same time as Lois came her to see her folks but we caught up with them eventually and had a visit. Anyways, we'll see what we can plan..of course our daughter and her husband are out there and my brother and his family are close by on the island. It would be nice.
Well, better go...got some dreamweaving to do. So nice to hear from eveyone throught their blogs, I just wish Gary would blog more...oh wait a minute Gary is the only one to blog....so that means......balls...get blogging! not a minute to loose! I think we might Barbecue todight! I got a cute e-mail from Lyn yesterday, it had a picture of a rain-soaked patio and one lone overturned lawnchair and words to the effect that a HUGE storm had just passed and it forced the schools to close and overturned trees, etc.......Oh the HUMANITY! What a hoot, what a wicked sense of humour..must get it from Gary, er no maybe not....probably Uncle Louis. Later

Neither this Constitution or the constitution of any State, nor state or federal law, shall be construed to require that marital status or the legal incidents thereof be conferred upon unmarried couples or groups.'.
Here is the amendment proposed by Mrs. Musgrave R-Col (et al) concerning the change to the US constitution. Looks like...read it carefully now...that all rights and conditions pertaining to marriage will be conferred upon unions of men and women only......does not include 'civil unions'. Dubya does it again. Pandering to the religious right just to get re-elected. All of the people that are opposed to gay marriage say...well, just call it a civil union and not a marriage and, everything will be fine. Lying Bas****s

The weather here is still about 0 deg C. This makes the driving real treacherous, with thawing and feezing of slush. Also, the snow that has piled up on the side roads is getting very soft and this makes it hard to drive through and impossible to walk through. Well, it should either get warmer or get colder...this in-between crap is not fun.
"The Passion of The Christ"...
Has anybody seen "The Passion of the Christ"? It is getting wildly different reviews. Some people are coming out of the theatre and saying that it is an accurate depiction of what happened...how do they know this?....from a few verses of the bible? Crucifixation. I fear too violent for me. Well, "kill Bill" and "Lord of the Rings" are violent too but the violence is fake and you know it is... this "Passion" movie is portrayed as fact and the violence is portrayed as real. To promote the "factualness" Gibson has them speaking Latin and Aramaic...that caps it , it must be the true story! I am sure that soon they will be rolling in the theatre aisles and shouting out to Jesus in tongues. Already a 50 year old woman has had a heart attack and died while watching the movie. This thing is going to get a whole lot wackier before it is over.
Gay Marriages....
The gays here are clamouring to be able to get married in their own province. They have been travelling to Kenora and getting hitched. I see nothing wrong headed in this. They should be allowed to get married and they should be allowed to do it in their own province. The laws of the land will surely have to reflect and keep pace with what is the reality in society. The laws must allow gays to marry and not be discriminated against in society. The struggle reminds me of the struggle in the 50's, 60's and 70's against inter-racial marriages. The same arguments were used that are being used by the conservatives now. The only difference is that the homophobic, conservative right in the USA have an evangelical President who is now going to change the constitution to specifically exclude gays from marriage. That would be the first time that the constitution in the US has been change to 'take away' human rights (it has been changed 28 times in the past but only to add more rights). The conservatives in the US use this argument (among others) that if you change the laws of the US to allow gays to marry that you will be opening the gates to allow polygamy and men to marry goats, their daughters, etc........ the new laws will read that one person can marry another person not another goat, daughter or several other persons ...there are laws, as they exsist now, against polygamy and incest and the goat thing. All that gays are asking for is for the same rights that married people have. Pensions, medical care, etc. Civil unions won't do it.
Web publishing....
First class tonight. Four classes total, looking forward to it.
Well, better go. Repeat after me...Blogging is Good, Blogging is Good, I will blog soon, so that all who read my blog will be able to read about what I am doing and what is happening in my life. So if you care about other people and I know that you do........BLOG! Hell, blog and express your own opinion on things....discussion is good, its what makes democracy tick.... when people stop the discussion is when democracy is in trouble. Opinions are free....blog

Hellllooooo. We are experiencing quite a heat-wave. It has been above freezing for a week or so and knock on wood...thunk, thunk, it may go up to ....listen...it may go up to....6 degrees c on Friday. Let the bells ring out and the banners fly....feast your eyes on it BOY, I say BOY...6 Deg C. spring is here the grass is riz I wonder where the dam grass iz?
Sunday Catherine and I went to the Travel and Golf show at the Convention Centre. We manned the Manitoba South Museum booth. It included the Dugald costume museum, the Austin steam tractor museum, and others including The Western Canada Aviation Museum. They had all kinds of golf courses represented there and all kinds of other leisure activities such as 'Festival Du Voyageur' RV"S, Krevo pools, Various towns and villages. There was also a band called "Men with Kilts", a great young band that played some good Celtic favourites. One golf course was handing out golf clubs to kids....a golf club each...now that is how you promote golfing ot kids! Maybe curling clubs could learn a lesson here...declining numbers of curlers might call for handing out curling rocks!!!....nah, maybe brooms though! Anyhow, we had a ball and took turns cruising the show and entering many draws. monday
Monday was my last Adobe photoshop class. Still looking for Photoshop 7 or 8. And maybe a copy of 'dreamweaver' because I am taking web design starting this Thursday. Anybody, Anybody? aaannnyyybbbooodddyyy! Sprint
I just got a letter from Sprint Canada. Seems that they have 'taken over' the long distance plan I had with "Talk'n Save". Oh well that means that I can call anywhere, anytime in NA for 6 cents a minute....as opposed to 7.9 cents a minute. what will I do with the savings? ...go to Vagas?
I see that by Gary's blog they are leaving for las Vegas at the end of Feb. I think that they will be heading home for mid March...I think that was their plan. Unless of course they win big in Vegas! Of course they could lose!...I heard of a guy who went to Vegas in a $20,000 car and came back in a $80,000 ...........bus.
Saturday afternoon we wen to see "Tuesdays with Morrie" . The play was based on a true story. The main character (Morrie) is a sociology prof who teaches a young guy about life and then they part for several years. They get reunited by chance about 16 years later but by that time Morrie has ALS. It is very touching. Morrie was a nice guy...he was a Hugger...like me. I, too, believe that people should touch more and a good hug is way to do it. A good hug and magic happens...you don't even have to say a word. Well, life is what happens to you while you are making plans. Catherine and I were getting pretty choked up because Catherine's brother Gordie died of ALS, but thankfully they went easy at the end of the play and chose not to show him dying. Everyone was sniffling at the end.
We cheered ourselves up by going with Al & Janine and Pat & Paul to a Bistro. The Inferno Bistro. A new place in St. Boniface. The food was very good, We all tried something different and spent much time sampling others dishes. I had a filet mignon that was to die for and for an appy Catherine and I had escargot...you know snails in a wonderful sauce. I think that the sauces are what made it.....the mussels in sauce were good and Catherine's salmon fettucini was so tasty. The ambience was definitely Francais and the talk was loud and full of joie de vivre! Mostly french and I thought that they just talked mostly with their hands! It all reminded me of my business trips to Montreal and the fine french bistros in "Old Montreal"! We finished off with gateau infused with whipping cream and covered with a fine chocolate sauce......and 3 bouteilles du vin extrodinaire later we were ready to head back to our place for some cut-throat Triviallis Pursuitis. The dog was happy to see us.
well, better go ........KEEP ON BLOGGING...or er some of you TRY BLOGGING!
May the force be with youse.

Here it is Saturday and the weather is still holding at around the freezing mark. The winds are calm and the weather would be great for flying...wish that I would have kept my licence up! Do you know that to get one's pilot's licence today would cost around $10,000.00 and that is Canadian! Back in '78....er, 1978 bozo, it cost me $1,500.00. I guess that having diabetes would preclude me ever getting past the medical.
Today we are going to a play. "Tuesdays With Morrie"...its about a sportscaster that meets with his mentor every Tuesday for a talk, except that now the mentor is dying of ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease) . I hope that Catherine will be alright with that, you see her brother Gordie died of ALS about 4 years ago...hell I hope I'm OK, Gordie was a nice guy.
I put a counter on my blog on Feb 15th and so far have received over 40 hits...of course about 10 are mine. It's nice to see that someone is reading my blog. There is a site that advertises your blog site (BLOGWISE) and I have subscribed to it. Maybe that is the reason for the hits. Oh well, fun anyways. I know Gary reads my blog and I read Gary's blog, since he is another one to blog frequently. It is too bad because blogging is so great. It relates to all, and yourself!, what you and your family, friends are up too. It's like keeping a journal.......Well enough proselytizing.....'nuf said Fred...Keep blogging.

Hello, this is the prairie dog here...WOO WOO WOO! The weather here has been spring like. Today it is about 3 deg c. The snow is melting...but I guess I shouldn't talk too soon!...I may jinx it! Suffice to say, it has been warm...nudge, nudge, wink, wink...that 'scottish play' and all that rot...what-hey?
I spent this AM securitanizing at the museum. Not so much securitanizing as tour guiding...I just can't stop myself from taking people around the pictures and splain'in stuff! Much more fun than standing there looking security-like (whatever that is). You are not supposed to do it but piss on them...they wouldn't let me carry a gun, anyway!!!
Not that I need a gun....well, maybe for defence. There would be no pre-emptive gun action here though.....unless they look like they have guns ..or the capability to make guns in the future....or know someone who has guns and would barter for something like camels or such.
Better go, today is a Reh-fit day. Still no camera phones being smuggled into the men's locker room....there is a mental picture for you! A bunch of old men just hangin' out! Anyhow, keep blogging!.....later

Here I am sitting at the computer at around 1:48 AM Friday. Feeling melancholy. A fellow from the Humanist Association passed away on the weekend and then Ken Chambers died this week. Ken was born in July, 1947. I was born in June, 1947 and it kinda makes you think about, well you know... death. Woody Allen says that he is not afraid of dying, he just doesn't want to be there when it happens. Anyways, makes you think. Life is short. Catherine has a teacher friend who was recently diagnosed with inoperable stomach cancer and it is just a matter of time. It happened so sudden. What do you say to someone like that?...if the truth be known, deep down you are probably saying that I am glad that it is not me.
75 cms of snow in the Maritimes! A lot of it fell in Halifax, those Haligonians will be digging out for days! How can people live there, he said feigning fainting? Oh My Dears! Like Myron Cohen says, everybody got to be somewhere, if we all lived in the same place it would be real crowded.
Joke...
A boy was not doing well in mathematics. His father tried everything, tutors, meeting with the teacher, etc, but the boy's grade in math just would not improve. What to do? He decided to enrol him in a 'private' school to see if that would help. The boy's math grade improved immediately. Was it the teaching? the father asked of the boy...no. Was it the new learning environment? ...no. Well, what was it asked the father. What could have encouraged you to improve your math so quickly? Well said the boy, when I walked into the math teaher's room the first day, I saw that on the wall at the front of the class was a man nailed to a plus sign!
Well, better go and get some sleep. I got to protext the Wright Bros Exybishun down te the musum in the marnin' and that means an 8 oclock wake up call. some days that is the only exercise I get!..... 26 or so situps just hittin the snooze button!
nitey nite....remember keep on bloggin! appreciate Gary's efforts!...by his blog I can see that they are having a good time out there in Arizony. Stay safe.

Here we are....Thursday. It was beautiful yesterday. It went up to a blistering 0 deg c....I should say +0 deg c. Not much fun driving, though. When you drive a little Toyota and spend all your time looking up at the friggin' SUV's and encountering all the crap that their tires throw up onto your windshield, it is not much fun....ya need a lot o' washer fluid! It is supposed to be the same today, soon the daffodils will be out! Well, the weather is nice for the Festival anyways. All the snow sculptures will be melting...not the first time! They should consider building an 'Ice hotel' like Quebec city does for their 'Carnival'.
Bad news...
Ken Chambers, owner of St, Lupicin craft/art gallery died this week. For those of you that don't know Ken; for over 20 years he was an artist of note who impressed and delighted many with his antler carvings and jewellery known as White Trash Whittlin'. He owned and operated the St. Lupicin Craft Gallery for 22 years and with the collaboration of his artisan friends, turned the village of St. Lupicin into a landmark for Manitoba's finest artistic talent. He was a man who lived his life on his own terms, to his own music and sense of humour. His life was always rich in kindness to others. He gave Jack an opportunity to have a show there and that is how Catherine and I met him. he was certainly a unique individual...a kind of hippie, a free spirit. The last time we saw him was in Kenora where he was doing a show. He was 56 years old and his death, apparently, was heart related. He will be missed, especially by Jack. Sorry Jack.
Movies......
We rented a couple of movies of note the other day. One was "Lost in Translation" by
Sophia Coppola and starring Bill Murray. It was a part that only Bill Murray could have played. He was meant to do this movie and Sopia said that if Bill didn't do the movie then she did not want to make it. It was quite a good movie, shot on a shoe string budget. Bill Murray deserves the Oscar nomination for his role in this movie. And Sophia Coppola really deserves the Oscar for directing and possibly writing this one. The other movie was "Once Upon a Time in the Midlands" starring Ricky Tomlinson (TV's "Royale Family") and Robert Carlyle ("Trainspotting" and "The Full Monty". It too, is well worth seeing. Its a British movie about a cad (Carlyle) who returns to his former wife and daughter after 6 years away, having left them for adventure but the wife is living with a nice guy now.....and so on.
I enroled in a course called Web design using Dreamweaver and Fireworks. It goes for 4 weeks and starts next Thursday. I have one more class in Adobe Photoshop next monday. Its a ball, but I wish I could afford the software! It is expensive, so if there is anywone out there who can get me copies of these I would be more than grateful.
Anniversary...
37 years ....Let's see 1967.....Major Events of 1967
-Israel defeats Arabs in Six Day War.
-Dr Christiaan Bernard performs first heart transplant, Cape Town, South Africa.
-Biafra (1967-1970) declares independence from Nigeria, and is blockaded leading to massive starvation.
-and Catherine and Dennis get married.
Mother took us out to dinner at the Round Table on Monday night. Mom and I had Prime Rib and Catherine had the ribs. Scrumptious. Thanks to Gary and Jack for the card/congrats, etc. Let's see, I'll never catch up to Gary and Carol...they will be married 43 years this year (?) Oh well, they say that the first 40 is the hardest..right Carol?
Looking forward to going to see the play "Tuesdays with Morrie" on Saturday at MTC. we are going out to dinner afterwards to a place that Al found that is supposed to be really good. And then....let's see...back here for Trivial Pursuit?...maybe?
Well, anyways, better go and read all the other updated blogs.....well Gary's anyway!
Keep up with the blogging, it is a good way to keep people informed as to what is going on in your life...other people are interested! Later.

Hello...its Sunday.
We just now got back from the mall, and Catherine has taken the doggie out for a walk. We went to get Catherine a new purse since she broke the zipper on the one she had.
The Festival du Voyageur opened Friday. We haven't gone yet but we intend to go later in the week. There were dog races held yesterday right on the river at the Forks. It was a bit cold but that doesn't stop those crazy dogs from running...that's what they live for ! The snow sculptures are finished and they will be judged. The tents and Fort Gibralter are opened and I'll be that there was a lot of good cheer last night! Its nice to see many people dressed voyageur style, in hudson's bay blanket coats (called capotes) and fur hats and sashes (called centieure flechees)...HeyHoe! I'll send the link later.
We had our Humanist meeting dinner last night. The food was excellant, a half chicken, salad, dessert...great. We discussed 'funerals without God' and there was manys tories of people being taken advantage of by unscrupulous funeral directors...they'll tell you anything to make a sale. We were told when Dad died that it was against the law to scatter the ashes of a loved one. It is not against the law, but you have to ask permission to dump the ashes on private property. Anyhow, people shuld make their wishes known to those that are going to be left to plan for their funeral....cremation, or ?, body left to science?, do you want a wake?, sevice?, memorial service?, religious, non-religious? Many questions. We heard of one professor at the university of manitoba that just wanted a cremation and then a wake...just a bunch of friends gathering together in one room, in his honour. We heard of another where the funeral was very informal and everyone and anyone who wanted to, could speak about the deceased. Anyways, there are many ways to do it but it is important to make those plans before they are made for you. There was two fellows that came who were from the Winkler area. They were self-described 'flaming atheists' and one was married and had kids going to regulars school. The school has religious classes (which I thought were outlawed) and he was in a quandry as to whether his kids should be allowed to go. If they did..he was a hypocrite, and if they didn't then the kids would be ostracized. damn Mennonites, anyway. Religion has no place in school, if you want your kids to learn about religion, then teach them at home!...or in church. There also was a woman there that protested the calling by a church to prayer sessions in the legislative buildings. As a result of her protest, the prayers are no longer allowed. We move in tiny steps.
Well, better go, the East coast music awards (Easties) are on tonight.
Keep on blogging!

Hello Friday!....Its hot today...its, its ,its....SULTRY. its -10 deg C but SUNNY. Thats sunny as in 240 +- o clarifications on the clarity scale.
Orvy and Wilby...
Just got back from the Aviation museum... I was there securitanizing...working as security for the wright Bros exhibit. I got there right at 10:00 AM for the museum opening. I told the other three guys that the art of securitanizing consisted of being wary, and vigilant but NOT obtrusive!!!! Don't be peeking around corners, etc. And when the first couple came in I showed them the first photograph and from there on I just had to explain everything...every picture, all the stories I had heard at the presentation on Saturday by the curator of the Dayton Museum. I didn't let up until all the pictures were seen....then I realized that this was being a little bit intrusive!!!??? I excused myself and said that if that was so I was sorry for yakking away but they thanked me profusely and carried on to see the lithographs...of course I got razzed by the other securitanizers. do you think I should carry a gun???...no, all I have to do is talk and I would probably bore them to death before they could escape with a picture!
I saw one of the new 737 -700's today...you know the one with the winglets on the wing tips? Those winglets serve to save on fuel. They use 1/2 the amount of fuel that an old 737 uses, just because of those winglets.
Well better get ready for the Friday workout....
Keep blogging......

It's 10 degs C and sunny!!!
Hope the weather holds for the Festival! Its not like it takes place totally outside, but scurrying from heated tent to heated tent when it is -25 deg c out is not much fun. The dogs in the dog races don't seem to mind what the weather is though. This year they are having a 'snow dip' a big pool filled with snow and people swimming in there with only bathing suits on....what people will do for money! There will be snow sculptures and lots of music as usual. In the days of the voyageurs there was always music...they would pas the time by getting together at someone's house and fiddles would appear and they would sing and dance til dawn. HEY-HOE!!!!! Drinking and music what fun...I think that I'm a voyageur!....maybe its in my genes since Granpas' Granpa was a voyageur! No wonder they played hard, they worked hard. Amable Hogue (the voyageur) once made trip, paddling a canoe for Governor Simpson all the way from york Factory on the Hudson's Bay to the mouth of the Fraser River (would that be Vancouver? DUH) in just three (3) months!!!!! an amazing feat in those days! They would only sleep 4 hours a night and paddle for about 16 hours, the rest of the time they spent cooking and repairing the canoes and sitting around the campfire singing.
Anyhow, better go, Catherine will be home soon...she was subbing today. It's our anniversary on the 17th... 37 years....wow. dat's a long time!

Hello. Its Wednesday. The temperature is about 10 deg C. Thats -40 deg on the optical pyrometer scale.
Gary's Odyssey........
Hard to keep up with those guys....galavanting around the warm climes of Arizona. First they are in Cocopuffs and now they are in the BLT's. What next, or do they have any reservations? Then they make their way to Los Vegas....Spanish for 'Lost Wages'...anyhow, thats what my Dad used to say. A couple of weeks spent in the Mirage Parking lot and all the associated gambling should be quite bracing! 10-1 that dog doesn't make it to the doggie walk!......ur on!!!
Paul Martin ....oops, I did it again...
The poor liberals have gotten themselves into a hole that will be hard to get out of but, don't underestimate the power of the Canadian public to quickly forget. The public will forgive too, if Martin looks like he is really doing something to clean this thing up and (with apologies to Belinda.com) the fact that there is no real alternative to the Liberals helps too. I think that he still will call an election for the spring, if he dosn't he could be seen as running scared. It all started with that damn referendumb in Quebec. Just like trying to placate a whining child, the Liberals threw (and I mean threw) money to Quebec after the close separation vote. They even filtered money through third parties to cover it up. This is not the first scandal and it sure won't be the last. The Canadian public is realistic in the fact that it expects there to be some scandals taking place in Government circles ...seems that there is no escaping it, but they still fare better than the scandal-ridden big businesses.
ya got to wonder though, Paul Martin was the Finance Minister and he was the senior member from Quebec...he must have known something rotten was going on. You know what they say 'Time Wounds all Heels'.

Boy the NYT x-word puzzle was a biotch this AM! It took us over an hour and we are not sure that it is right, but we filled in all the squares, so that means we finished it , right????
We just got back from taking the dog for a walk around the duck pond at the St. Vital park. Lots of people were out skating with their kids and having lots-0-fun, skating and sliding on the tobbogan slides. Its +3 degrees right now and the snow is melting! I hope this weather holds for the Festival De Voyageur! It would not be good for the snow sculptures but it would be good for the feet! Looks like spring already! Ok maybe in 6 weeks...I'll take 6 weeks! ....4 months of winter, that's enough!
Well, the grammys are on tonight. Should be good...I wonder if Janet Jackson will be.......OK nevermind. I thought maybe a second opinion on the 6 weeks of winter thing.
Did anyone else catch George Dubyah on "Meet the Press" with Tim Russert? It was good. Kinda reminded me of me writing one of the essay questions for Philosophy exams. You have to keep writing and writing even if, and especially if, you can answer in only one sentence, it is important for you to keep wirting so that you can fill up the pages of the little booklet they give you and that way the professor will think that you really know what you are talking about even though you could have done the whole thing in one sentence, as would appear to be the most logical and prudent way to mitigate the fact that you don't have a friggin' clue as to what you are saying and you regret not having attended a few more classes. Well, anyways, Dubyah should not have agreed to the interview because he is not good having to think on his feet. He came off looking shallow and not to put too fine a point on it.... vulnerable. This is good because Kerry is showing ahead of Bush in the polls. Tim Russert asked Dubyah why he thought that people are so polarized over him...ya either love him or hate him...maybe it all started with "you are either with us (him and his cronies) or against us"....we will broach no thinking out of the box!
Well better go.....keep on blogging!!!!! Ciao.

Hello fellow bloggers.
Aviation Museum had the Wright Stuff!.....
The big opening ceremonies were held on Friday. All the Hi-mucky-mucks were there, I am not one to drop names...but....Gail Asper, Kathleen Richardson, John harvard, Susan Thompson, Elijah Harper, and a bunch of other politicos. I was there all day doing security. I had a ball watching these politicos slithering from person to person just like they do this all the time?! Which I think that they do....moving from luncheon to luncheon to cocktail party. meetng/greeting the right people and standing just off to the side to wait their turn to meet the real important ones,,,kinda like planes in a holding pattern waiting to land. Anyhow, the show is great and I am taking Catherine back again today because there is a fellow doing a presentation on the show and it should be interesting. Besides, she wants to see the show too!
H.A.M. bones.....
We had our executive meeting at the Viscount-Gort on Thursday evening. We each tried a different meal and it was very good. I think everyone will be pleased with the new venue. Our monthly meeting is on Valentine's day, Feb 14th.
If you are around...drop in. We can hoist a toast to Darwin....Charles...evolution...inventor of the Beagle?
Well better go and shave, etc. and shampoo. We have to get going.....later!
Keep blogging!!!!!!

A Bird, er...Bush in the Bush...
I wonder how that rat Double-yah Bush is going to get out of getting blamed for taking his country on a pre-emptive strike (in the US they call it a war) against Iraq. No matter how you interpret it , Iraq had no WMD and did not possess the ability to strike at the US within 45 minutes! AND, as far as aiding terrorists, Osama and Saddam were enemies. Besides, 14 of the hijackers of Sept. 11, 2001 got their pilot training in the US! Maybe the US intelligence got it wrong but they said that the evidence was not solid and Double-yah should not have made the jump in logic (bad choice of words whenyou talk about Double-yah). It will be interesting to see who is put on the investigating board.
Riel School Division....
The RSD decided to fill the temporary teaching position, that Catherine applied for, with another 'temp' teacher within the division. The position was probably already filled but as with many agencies (especially the Goverment) the position had to be advertized to fulfil some sortof criteria. This just gets people's hopes up and dashes them, because they did not even bother with interviews...how rude! Poor Catherine, she kinda had her heart set on it, and she would have enjoyed getting back to teaching if only for a couple of months.
H.A.M. bones....
Tonite is the executive meeting for HAM. Its at the new venue, the Viscount-Gort. I just got a call from one of the members who said that he could no longer afford to come to the meetings because the price of the meal is going to $15.95 plus tax and tip. The last place we were at, we paid $15.00 including tax and tip. but the venue was unsuitable (one of the members was accosted at the Jan. meeting) and the food was crappy. Then, I heard form several people who were glad that we have a new venue because even though they were members, they didn't like the old venue. AND, they had been to the new venue recently and had really enjoyed the food. You can't win.... and you can't please all the people all the time. I think that some people are just plain cheap, old and crabby. Bah Humbug! I'm just old and crabby!
Well, better go and get ready for the meeting...Quando omni flunkis moritati; I'm a man but I can change...I guess.

Super Bowl XXXVIII....
Well, the game started off slow but ended with a bang. It turned out to be a great game. The Patriots won 32-29. But the Pathers pulled off some magic during the game, just to keep in it. Did I see the half time show? Yeah, what was the big deal about Janet Jackson baring her breast? Europeans must think that we in North America are a prudish lot. The only thing that I can see is that kids could be watching, but then, nobody says boo when they show graphic violence on the evening news! Was it any worse than Nelly grabbing his crotch every few seconds during his song? ....what's up with that? I didn't find that thecommercials were that great either, especially the one with the gassy horse?!?!
General Musings.... (wasn't he a civil war general?)...
Its always a trial to get Suzie's nails cut. She doesn't like ANYONE touching her paws. She must have had frost-bite or something in her previous life. She doesn't wear them down in the winter like she does in the summer. We are taking her tomorrow to get them done...wish us luck...I've given up trying to do them at home!
I had another Adobe Photo Shop class yesterday. Does anyone have a copy of Adobe Photoshop 7 or the new one 8???? Gary, do you know anyone? The follow up classes are Photoshop 'goodies'...should be good.
This is a busy week for me. I am at the Aviation Museum tomorrow and Friday, all day. Friday is the opening of the Wright Bros. exhibit. Thursday I have a meeting of the executive of the Humanist Assoc. and we are having it at the Viscount-Gort for the first time. We will have our general meeting there on the 14th. Let's see Feb. 14th...there is something else about that date?! I wonder what it is? Pope's birthday???no...
Gary and Carol are still at Cocopah? in Arizona, living the large life in the land Cruiser. Carol has vertigo and this results in dizzy spells. Hope she gets over those soon. I get dizzy sometimes when I stand up fast...my body can no longer take sudden energetic movements and besides it is a side effect of my meds.
I gave the dog a bath on Sunday and I don't know who got more wet, me or her. She sure hates to get wet. When it is raining or even snowing outside, she refuses to go out.
Well, better go and deliver Mom her groceries.
Keep blogging........

Here is a test one could try at home. It is quite informative and remember, I love you, tata! Dennis got a 45 and Catherine scored a 51...pretty accurate, I'd say....except Catherine says that she is not impulsive...HAHA....slap!

Dr. Phil's Test
Below is Dr. Phil's test. Dr. Phil scored 55 -- he did this test on Oprah - she got a 38.) Some folks pay a lot of money to find this stuff out. Read on, this is very interesting! Don't be overly sensitive! The following is pretty
accurate and it only takes 2 minutes. Don't peek but begin the test as you scroll down and answer.
Answers are for who you are now...... not who you were in the
past... Have pen or pencil and paper ready. This is a real test given by
the Human Relations Dept. at many of the major corporations today. It
helps them get better insight concerning their employees and
prospective employees. It's only 10 simple questions, so...... grab a
pencil and paper, keeping track of your letter answers. Ready?? Begin...

===========================
POINTS:
1. (a) 2 (b) 4 (c) 6
2. (a) 6 (b) 4 (c) 7 (d) 2 (e) 1
3. (a) 4 (b) 2 (c) 5 (d) 7 (e) 6
4. (a) 4 (b) 6 (c) 2 (d) 1
5. (a) 6 (b) 4 (c) 3 (d) 5 (e) 2

10. (a) 4 (b) 2 (c) 3 (d) 5 (e) 6 (f) 1
Now add up the total number of points.
OVER 60 POINTS: Others see you as someone they should "handle with care." You're seen as vain, self-centered, and who is extremely dominant. Others may admire you, wishing they could be more like you, but don't always trust you, hesitating to become too deeply involved with you.
51 TO 60 POINTS: Others see you as an exciting, highly volatile, rather impulsive personality; a natural leader, who's quick to make decisions, though not always the right ones. They see you as bold and
adventuresome, someone who will try anything once; someone who takes
chances and enjoys an adventure. They enjoy being in your company
because of the excitement you radiate.
41 TO 50 POINTS: Others see you as fresh, lively, charming, amusing,
practical, and always interesting; someone who's constantly in the center of attention, but sufficiently well-balanced not to let it go to their head. They also see you as kind, considerate, and understanding; someone who'll always cheer them up and help them out.
31 TO 40 POINTS: Others see you as sensible, cautious, careful &practical. They see you as clever, gifted, or talented, but modest. Not a person who makes friends too quickly or easily, but someone who's extremely loyal to friends you do make and who expect the same loyalty in return. Those who really get to know you realize it takes a lot to shake your trust in your friends, but equally that it takes you a long time to get over if that trust is
ever broken.
21 TO 30 POINTS: Your friends see you as painstaking and fussy. They see you as very cautious, extremely careful, a slow and steady plodder. It would really surprise them if you ever did something impulsively or on
the spur of the moment, expecting you to examine everything carefully
from every angle and then, usually decide against it. They think this
reaction is caused partly by your careful nature.
UNDER 21 POINTS: People think you are shy, nervous, and indecisive,
someone who needs looking after, who always wants someone else to make
the decisions &who doesn't want to get involved with anyone or anything! They see you as a worrier who always sees problems that don't exist. Some people think you're boring. Only those who know you well know that you aren't.

Cold Mountain...
Yesterday, we went to see "Cold Mountain". Minghella is the director. He's the one who directed "The English Patient". The movie is at once breathtaking in scope and moves from horrible civil war battles scenes to tender love scenes. The cinematography is really well done. Jude Law plays a rebel soldier who is wounded in battle and then, while in the hospital, decides to desert and make his way back to the Smokey Mountains of North Carolina and Cold Mountain, his home. He is returning to his loved one, played by Nicole Kidman. He meets Kidman only briefly at the beginning of the movie and spends the rest of the time in battle or struggling to get back home. The real story seems to be the relationship between Kidman and Renee Zelwigger, who plays a gutsy dame, willing to so the 'hard' labour of running the farm. She has to help out on Kidman's farm, because Kidman, who has lost her father, is now a lost soul, unable to cope. The movie is a good one (long at about 2 1/2 hours) but shows more like a TV mini series than a movie because the main characters are meeting others along the way, one after another. It makes you wonder and look forward to what/who will be in next weeks show. Kidman doesn't deserve an Oscar for this but Renee does. Even though, Zelwigger's part could have been more poignant if they had a black woman playing that part, she did a credible job. Zelwigger will not win an oscar, however because everyone agrees that Charlize Theron will take it for her role in "Monster". Jude law is nominated for a best actor Oscar but odds are with the golden globe winner Bill Murray for "Lost in Transalation".
Once Upon a Time in Mexico...
I think that this is the 3rd one in the "El Mariachi" trilogy. We rented it last night on the way home after seeing "Cold Mountain". If you like Johnny Depp, you'll like him in this movie. It also stars Antonio Banderos and Salma Hayek. The action is great, if over the top but the acting keeps it all sort of grounded. Banderos is good as the Mariachi, so cooool and sauaveeee with his dark good looks and his swashbuckling action. Depp plays a crooked CIA agent willing to risk anybodys life to get the money. He plays one scene with a t-shirt on that says "I'm with Stupid" and has an Arrow pointing down! The whole movie is over the top, but very enjoyable if you are a Mariachi fan and we are! We have also rented "Desperado" and will be watching that this week....that is the second in the series.
Super Bowl......and then.....SURVIVOR...!!
Looking forward to the game....hmmm let's see who's playing??? The Panthers and the Patriots....sounds like the Democrats VS the Republicans. I'm pulling for the Democrats...er, the Pathers. I don't watch the NFL as a rule, but you can't miss the Stupor-bowl! The commercials and the half-time show will be great.... I think that it is Shania Twain and the Guess Who....maybe....maybe not, but it will be good. And then, All- Star Survivor. Should be real good. You got to watch it now, ya hear?!
The weather is sunny and -15 deg C. That is a bloody heat wave for us. People are all outside walking and working and playing. I think later we will take doggiewoggies for a walk and let her do peepeeweepies and poopiwoopies. she has not been for a walk for around ten days and she is getting to be a little chunky monkey.
Glad to hear that Gary is have a good time ...see his blog..." the weather is here, wish you were beautiful". Nice to hear the Jack still has his job at the still existant Arts Dept. of SOSU....see his blog. Nice to here Joel's car can only go 95 KM/hr...that way he wont get into an accident on the Sea-to- sky highway when he goes snowboarding....see his blog.
Better go and walk the dog. Keep blogging!!!!!!!!!
