"Wilbur and I could hardly wait for morning to come to get at something that interested us. That's happiness."

-- Orville Wright

Here we are....Thursday. It was beautiful yesterday. It went up to a blistering 0 deg c....I should say +0 deg c. Not much fun driving, though. When you drive a little Toyota and spend all your time looking up at the friggin' SUV's and encountering all the crap that their tires throw up onto your windshield, it is not much fun....ya need a lot o' washer fluid! It is supposed to be the same today, soon the daffodils will be out! Well, the weather is nice for the Festival anyways. All the snow sculptures will be melting...not the first time! They should consider building an 'Ice hotel' like Quebec city does for their 'Carnival'.

Bad news...

Ken Chambers, owner of St, Lupicin craft/art gallery died this week. For those of you that don't know Ken; for over 20 years he was an artist of note who impressed and delighted many with his antler carvings and jewellery known as White Trash Whittlin'. He owned and operated the St. Lupicin Craft Gallery for 22 years and with the collaboration of his artisan friends, turned the village of St. Lupicin into a landmark for Manitoba's finest artistic talent. He was a man who lived his life on his own terms, to his own music and sense of humour. His life was always rich in kindness to others. He gave Jack an opportunity to have a show there and that is how Catherine and I met him. he was certainly a unique individual...a kind of hippie, a free spirit. The last time we saw him was in Kenora where he was doing a show. He was 56 years old and his death, apparently, was heart related. He will be missed, especially by Jack. Sorry Jack.

Movies......

We rented a couple of movies of note the other day. One was "Lost in Translation" by
Sophia Coppola and starring Bill Murray. It was a part that only Bill Murray could have played. He was meant to do this movie and Sopia said that if Bill didn't do the movie then she did not want to make it. It was quite a good movie, shot on a shoe string budget. Bill Murray deserves the Oscar nomination for his role in this movie. And Sophia Coppola really deserves the Oscar for directing and possibly writing this one. The other movie was "Once Upon a Time in the Midlands" starring Ricky Tomlinson (TV's "Royale Family") and Robert Carlyle ("Trainspotting" and "The Full Monty". It too, is well worth seeing. Its a British movie about a cad (Carlyle) who returns to his former wife and daughter after 6 years away, having left them for adventure but the wife is living with a nice guy now.....and so on.

I enroled in a course called Web design using Dreamweaver and Fireworks. It goes for 4 weeks and starts next Thursday. I have one more class in Adobe Photoshop next monday. Its a ball, but I wish I could afford the software! It is expensive, so if there is anywone out there who can get me copies of these I would be more than grateful.

Anniversary...

37 years ....Let's see 1967.....Major Events of 1967

-Israel defeats Arabs in Six Day War.

-Dr Christiaan Bernard performs first heart transplant, Cape Town, South Africa.

-Biafra (1967-1970) declares independence from Nigeria, and is blockaded leading to massive starvation.

-and Catherine and Dennis get married.

Mother took us out to dinner at the Round Table on Monday night. Mom and I had Prime Rib and Catherine had the ribs. Scrumptious. Thanks to Gary and Jack for the card/congrats, etc. Let's see, I'll never catch up to Gary and Carol...they will be married 43 years this year (?) Oh well, they say that the first 40 is the hardest..right Carol?

Looking forward to going to see the play "Tuesdays with Morrie" on Saturday at MTC. we are going out to dinner afterwards to a place that Al found that is supposed to be really good. And then....let's see...back here for Trivial Pursuit?...maybe?

Well, anyways, better go and read all the other updated blogs.....well Gary's anyway!
Keep up with the blogging, it is a good way to keep people informed as to what is going on in your life...other people are interested! Later.
