The cure for boredom is curiosity. There is no cure for curiosity.
---------------------

The weather here is still about 0 deg C. This makes the driving real treacherous, with thawing and feezing of slush. Also, the snow that has piled up on the side roads is getting very soft and this makes it hard to drive through and impossible to walk through. Well, it should either get warmer or get colder...this in-between crap is not fun.

"The Passion of The Christ"...

Has anybody seen "The Passion of the Christ"? It is getting wildly different reviews. Some people are coming out of the theatre and saying that it is an accurate depiction of what happened...how do they know this?....from a few verses of the bible? Crucifixation. I fear too violent for me. Well, "kill Bill" and "Lord of the Rings" are violent too but the violence is fake and you know it is... this "Passion" movie is portrayed as fact and the violence is portrayed as real. To promote the "factualness" Gibson has them speaking Latin and Aramaic...that caps it , it must be the true story! I am sure that soon they will be rolling in the theatre aisles and shouting out to Jesus in tongues. Already a 50 year old woman has had a heart attack and died while watching the movie. This thing is going to get a whole lot wackier before it is over.

Gay Marriages....

The gays here are clamouring to be able to get married in their own province. They have been travelling to Kenora and getting hitched. I see nothing wrong headed in this. They should be allowed to get married and they should be allowed to do it in their own province. The laws of the land will surely have to reflect and keep pace with what is the reality in society. The laws must allow gays to marry and not be discriminated against in society. The struggle reminds me of the struggle in the 50's, 60's and 70's against inter-racial marriages. The same arguments were used that are being used by the conservatives now. The only difference is that the homophobic, conservative right in the USA have an evangelical President who is now going to change the constitution to specifically exclude gays from marriage. That would be the first time that the constitution in the US has been change to 'take away' human rights (it has been changed 28 times in the past but only to add more rights). The conservatives in the US use this argument (among others) that if you change the laws of the US to allow gays to marry that you will be opening the gates to allow polygamy and men to marry goats, their daughters, etc........ the new laws will read that one person can marry another person not another goat, daughter or several other persons ...there are laws, as they exsist now, against polygamy and incest and the goat thing. All that gays are asking for is for the same rights that married people have. Pensions, medical care, etc. Civil unions won't do it.
