Well we went over to the University. We were not successful in obtaining a table to disseminate info about the Humanists movement. The tables that were all booked anyways were going for $1100.00 each. Too steep for our organization! I should have asked for help from my old fraternity while I was there....the "Sigma Tau Deltas" or STD's for short. We will have to set up a table for the student masses probably next September. The cost will be around $42.00 & tax. Boy the university is changing a lot, new buildings, new parking..........they have a Tim Horton's on campus!!!! The University of Manitoba is the bestest university in Canada hoohaa. AND, it has survived 127 Winnipeg winters!
better go, I am blogging from the Reh-Fit........waiting for Catherine. Keep blogging

We watched a movie last night called "Tadpole". with John Ritter, Bebe Neuworth, Sigourney Weaver. It was quite good, divided into chapters named from humourous quotes by Voltaire like, "If God did not exist, we would have had to invent him"...and "Judge a man by his questions and not by his answers" and " Anything that is too stupid to be spoken is sung". The movie itself was say, 4 on a scale of 5. Its about a young man of 15 falling in love with his step-mother.
The weather has been changeable lately 20 one day and 6 the next. Not much rain though....as long as the sun shines I'm OK with it.
Did you watch last nights "Survivor"? Shii Ann Huang got the boot. Not entirely a surprise though, as she was the last remaining member of Mogo Mogo. After a valiant fight last week to get immunity. Its too bad she had to go.....but that is 'Survivor'. Only 3 episodes left.......who will go next week? I don't like that Boston Rob...or Amber for that matter. I would like to see Rupert win......yah, Rupert.
Well better go, we are going over to the U of M to see if we can set up a table for the Humanists at the 'Congress of the Learneds' at the end of May. They expect 6000 people from several groups (5 of which are religious groups!) so it should be fun. We will pass out our 'core beliefs' pamphlets, etc. SCIENCE OVER SUPERSTITION!
You know what bothers me most about religion? Every religion has an 'after life'. If only people would live together in harmony in THIS LIFE instead of say, becoming a human bomb and rushing off to be with 40 virgins in the 'after life'.....what a waste.....let's give life a chance.......Imagine.
So better go ...........keep on blogging.
"Now is not the time to be making enemies!" said Voltaire on his deathbed when a priest admonished him to renounce Satan.
Voltaire also said, " I dissapprove of what you say but I will defend to the death of your right to say it!" here here

When my father died and my two brothers and I sat down to talk about him, we discovered that we were talking about three different men - and I had never met the other two.

I just got back from the museum......damn where are my glasses? Ah that's better. Catherine has gone to an AGM for the Louis Riel Teachers Assoc. so I am alone with the doggie. What will I have for supper?? Harvest crunch..yeah.
The weather yesterday was great , about 20 degs and sunny and today started out that way too but this afternoon it turned ugly....cold and windy. Must be a cold front coming through. Even the dog won't stay outside.
Joel has updated his blog. His Dad has turned 60 and his parents have been together for 36 years! Sounds like he has reconciled with his father....that's good. Sounds like they celebrated in fine fashion. Its nice when you can go out together and celebrate things like that...... birthdays, anniversaries.
www.lifewithjoel.blogspot.com
Guess what....there is a new drug store opening in Winnipeg soon....A LONDON DRUGS. Isn't that a coincidence? There are several London Drugs in Victoria and I wondered why there were none here...well here they are!
Been real busy here since I got back. Museum, re-fit, research, Nana's appointment. Oh yeah Nana....I took her to the 'pacemaker' clinic and everything is fine with her pacemaker. I told her that we should take her walker.. she said that she don't need no stinkin walker she'll take her cane....as soon as we got there she was looking for a wheelchair. yeahtututututututut....sheesh, that woman is stubborn but of course you knew that....We went out to the Norwood Hotel for breakfast after.
Better go make myself and my dog something to eat. keep blogging

Hello there. Here it is Monday....heart attack day for some. There was an article in the paper today that stated that a large number of heart attacks happen between 6:00 AM and 12:00 AM on Monday mornings, especially among the "type A" personalities and peopl who hate their jobs. I was not a "type A" personality so draw your conclusions....my job was very stressful and I pushed myself hard to be good at it, but nowadays it is common for people to push and be pushed because companys are trying to improve their bottom line by doing more with less employees. And there is always the threat of losing ones job.....aaahhh I am glad that I am out of it, I get all worked up just thinking about it!
Here are somemore photos or Lyn and Alan's wedding. These are the 'official' photos, taken by Alan's friend with a 35 mm camera:
The New Barbers
Liffe leeese......
I just called the manager of the "Vic Wyatt" house and updated our status on the waiting list. We are now "officially" on the short list for a "life-lease' two bedroom & a den (1500 sq ft...1700 sq ft if you include balcony) apartment in the complex on St. Annes Road. We went to look at some other rental apartments around town yesterday and found that nothing could compare with the 'Vic Wyatt' house. Your "hot" rent includes everything but the telephone. They told me that the apartments are not moving now and it may be a year or two but that suits us well as we will have to ready this place for sale....get rid of some junk and paint the place. What do they say in the army ...if it moves, move it if it don't paint it.
Still cool here today......
The weather has been strange lately...up and down.....Saturday it was 20 and windy, yesterday it was 15 and windy and today its only about 5 but not windy. I understand that it is real nice on the BC coast....20+ and sunny. When I was in Victoria recently I found the weather to be real nice but changeable...one minute it was gusty and the next calm...sunny then cloudy. But on the whole it was nice weather...great for walking around siteseeing. Seems that it is cool out east and downright cool in the maritimes. well you take what you get and then some.
Cougar in a camaro.......
I understand that Andy and Kathie bought that bootiful PT Cruiser and sold the Camaro to Noni. Looks like a good deal for both of them! Cougar in a Camaro.........OK....must warn people, must warn people.
Dear Ndugu.....
Did you know that you can't go for a walk these days unless you are sponsered by someone? The causes are good but why does it feel that if you are not walking "for a cause" then you should not be walking at all? Seemingly gone are the days when you can go walking purely for pleasure. Seems like there is guilt associated with everthing. One cannot turn on the TV without pleas for help and pictures of starving people. One cannot take a drive without someone standing at the lights on the boulevard with a sign pleading with somehing like, "I'd rather beg than ask for welfare">>>Hey ask for welfare, thats what it is for! The squeegie kids that want a looney for cleaning your windshield when it was not dirty...and without asking if you wanted it cleaned in the first place!....(turn on your wipers). The bums in the street begging for a looney so they can go and buy some more wine. MS, autism, cancer, ADD, adult ADD, SPCA, HS, dandruff, It grinds you down...you can't help everyone all the time. Dear Ndugu.....stop making me feel guilty....got a smoke?!
Better go for now...today is a re-fit day....must work out to keep my slim trim figure....do you realize that I used to weigh 8 lbs!?! TTFN ........keep blogging.

Hello....its Saturday. Finally, a day of rest!
Sir Humphrey Appleby would give Guite a run for his money!!.........
"Yes Minister" is one of my favourite TV shows. The several quotes below are from the show about St. Edwards hospital It is running with 500 civil servants and no patients and it has been running that way for 2 years. It is a hoot when Appleby tries to justify it! Read on......
(1) Jim Hacker: "The National Health Service, Humphrey, is an advanced case of galloping bureaucracy."
Sir Humphrey: "Ooooh, certainly not galloping. A gentle canter at the most."
(2) Sir Humphrey: "Minister, you said you wanted the administration figures reduced, didn't you?"
Jim Hacker: "Yes."
Sir Humphrey: "So we reduced the figures."
Jim Hacker: "But only the figures, not the number of administrators."
Sir Humphrey: "Well of course not."
Jim Hacker: "Well that is not what I meant."
Sir Humphrey: "Well really Minister, one is not a mind-reader, is one? You said reduce the figures, so we reduced the figures."
(3) [Discussing the opening up of St. Edward's hospital]
Sir Ian Whitchurch: "First of all, you have to sort out the smooth running of the hospital. Having patients around would be no help at all."
Sir Humphrey: "They just be in the way."
(4) Jim Hacker: "Fortunately Bernard, most of our journalists are so incompetent that they have the gravest difficulty in finding out that today is Wednesday."
Bernard Woolley: "It's actually Thursday, Minister."
(5) Jim Hacker: "You think it [St. Edward's hospital] is functioning now?"
Mrs. Rogers: "Minister, it is one of the best run hospitals in the country. It is up for the Florence Nightingale Award."
Jim Hacker: "And what is to praise that?"
Mrs. Rogers: "It is won by the most hygienic hospital in the area.
Raking and de-lighting.....
Catherine and I spent most of our 'day of rest' cleaning out the flower beds, raking and taking down the christmas lights. It was a nice day to do it. 17 degs C but quite windy. They expect a high tomorrow of about 14 deg. but less wind and sunny....

Old joke: A man repeatedly rides a bike across the Mexican-United States border. Each time, he's stopped by customs and the bike is taken apart. Nothing is found. Finally, one day a customs official offers the man immunity from prosecution if only he will tell what he's smuggling. The man pauses for a second, shrugs and says, "Bicycles."
Kinda like George Bush's deception ".....It's hard to know which is more disturbing. That George W. Bush misled the public by stating in the months before the Iraq war that he was seriously pursuing a diplomatic resolution when he was not. That he didn't bother to ask aides to present the case against going to war. That he may have violated the U.S. Constitution by spending hundreds of millions of dollars secretly to prepare for the invasion of Iraq without notifying Congress. That he was misinformed by the CIA director about one of the most critical issues of the day and demanded no accountability. Or that he doesn't care if he got it wrong on the weapons of mass destruction. " "......(George Dubya) is a president who eschews accountability and responsibility, who is embedded in a world detached from critical or challenging perspectives, who appears incapable of self-doubt, who mistakes stubbornness for leadership." Hello there. I just got back from Victoria yesterday. I went to Victoria to attend my niece Lyn's wedding. I had a great time. Gary and Carol were gracious hosts. I stayed out in the new large RV. The RV is a new one that my brother just bought and they have only been camping (if you can call it that!) in it once at Nanoose campground.
Have a look at some pictures:
Gary & Carolyns New Monarch SE, by Monaco
It is really rather luxurious, with two pullouts (one for the bed & closet and one for the dining set & couch). My FLY (foldable land yacht) has a 'pullout' too......the dining tent I 'pullout' from my trunk!!!! Oh yea, I can 'pullout' both beds...at the ends of the land yacht! Anyhow, I had a great time and I thank Gary and Carol for putting up with me. I managed to see a lot of Victoria with Gary and his brother-in-law Lewis, who was there for the wedding also. And it was nice to see the 'Victoria' family!...and meet Gary & Carols friends Andy and Kathie!
I have been downloading the pictures and working the over with adobe photo shop......shhh, not too loud, its a borrowed copy! Borrowed for good...LOL. When I get the pics together I will put them up on the web in the form of a slide show, for all to see.
Been busy since I got back trying to catch up on my e-mail, pay my bills, etc. This AM I went over the Diabetes Research group and started into a new program. This one has to do with "Atacand". Its the brand name for the drug candesartin cilexetil. It is meant to help with my kidneys, that is the excess protein in my kidneys. It will take place over a nine month period. The benefit is that I get free meds, money and a chance to help someone else and for that matter help myself too. This morning I finished up at the Research group around 11 AM and I went over to Mom's place, after pciking up some egg mcmuffins at Macdonalds.....had to eat because I was fasting since last night! I also took over the laptop and showed Mom the pics of the wedding and such. She enjoyed them very much.
Well, back to the pictures....later ...keep on blogging.

Hello here it is Monday. I leave Victoria for home tomorrow.
Yesterday, Gary, Lewis and I went down to the harbour front with the express purpose of browsing through some art galleries. We parked near the harbour and walked up to Douglas Street and made our way down it. We stopped in a few places but found nothing that Lewis was looking for. We stopped into Sam's Deli for lunch. On the way back to the car we had a look at the docked vessel called the "Farley Mowat" (originally called the "Ocean Warrior"). It was flying the flag of the "Sea Shepards. We also saw some aircraft of Harbour air group that fly from Victoria to Vancouver return. They have 9 turbo-prop Otters and a few piston engine Beavers. I understand from the internet that there are also turboprop beavers although I have not seen any. Lewis says that he has flown in one in Saskatchewan.
A funny thing happened to me on Saturday morning. When I went to bed in the RV on Friday night I set the time on the TV using the time on my watch. I then set the alarm to wake me up at 8 in the morning. All was well and the alarm went off at 8 AM and I got up, quite refreshed. After washing and brsuhing and getting dressed I went to leave the RV and the clock above the door read 7 AM. What the hell was going on? After a quick check of my watch I realized fwhat had happened....I had set the TV clock to Winnipeg time (two hours early). Here I was all dressed and nowhere to go. I walked down to the house but there was no one up yet. I did not want to wake anyone so I walked the mile down the hill to the restaurant and had breakfast. Of course I did not admit to this......who would admit to something like that ?
Today, Monday we went out to lunch in Mechosen at the "My Chosen" restaurant. We had to wait in line for 30 or 40 minutes and you know that I hate waiting in line for anything, but the food was good. We then went to Mary Hill campground to have a look around. This is the campground (along with 'Nanoose') that Gary and Carol use during the summer for camping. It was really quite nice for a campground. It had a nice beach area and campsites. The view from the beach across the strait of Juan De Fuca is of Port Angeles and the Olympic mountain Range...bootifull.
Tonight Lyn and Al came over to see me before I leave tomorrow. I did not get much of a chance to talk to them but it was certainly nice of them to come. After the wedding on Saturday they went off to an Inn called the Swan and then on Sunday they cruised around in their little Miata convertible and did not get back to their place until late Sunday. Lyn talked of coming out to Winnipeg with Rachel for a visit. That would be nice. It would be nice if Al could come too.
Anyhow, I am back in Winnipeg tomorrow and I arrive at 10:10PM. The love of my life is picking me up at the airport.
Right now the hockey game is on...Vancouver and Calgary. Calgary is ahead by a goal.
Keep on blogging.

Anyhow, I am back in Winnipeg tomorrow and I arrive at 10:10PM. The love of my life is picking me up at the airport.
Right now the hockey game is on...Vancouver and Calgary. Calgary is ahead by a goal.
Keep on blogging.

Looks like Margot is going bloggy! Two recent posts. Nice to see!
Way beyond normal......
Alan and Lyn's wedding was held in their home this very afternoon! It was an intimate affair, with only family. There was a marriage commissioner who presided over the wedding. The ceremony was a very nice one, but called for a little too much participation of the bride and groom....you know, repeat after me, "I Alan, do solemny take this woman to be my lawful, etc...." It was also a little repetitious The bride was beautiful and the groom was handsome. Alan has two children and Lyn also has two children and all four 'stood up' for them as best man, bridesgroom, etc. Very heartwarming, indeed. Carolyn presided over the food preparation and dissemination like a woman possessed. All in all it was a great little wedding. Apparently they are having another get-together in June for "other than closest family"...not sure what it means but stay tuned for "Wedding Part Deux"! Stay tuned.........
Andy and Kathie were out cruising in their '82 mustang and they dropped into Gary and Carol's for a visit. Noni came over too, so I had better join them in the living room....sounds like they are having fun!!!
Keep on blogging!!!

When my father died and my two brothers and I sat down to talk about him, we discovered that we were talking about three different men - and I had never met the other two.

Well, here it is wedding day. Lyn and Alan get married today. The food was being prepared at mission central (Carol's kitchen) last night. Noni and Carol were making a bunch of hors d'ouvres. I fail to see how all of this is going to be eaten, they must get real ravenous in Victoria at about 2:00PM in the afternoon. While Carol was making the food Gary and Lewis and I went out to the Victoria harbour to poke around ...we must have walked 5 KMS! We saw the Legislature and took a walk down Douglas street. I took a couple of pictures on my digital camera.
Last night Gary and Carol took us out to dinner at Romeos with Andy and Kathie, a real nice couple especially Kathie (she reads my blog!). She is not only beutiful but intelligent too!
Noni had a bit of car trouble last night, seems she is getting oil mixed with her antifreeze...not good. Her little 10 year old Saturn needs a new motor methinks. Mom and Dad came to the rescue and they are renting a car and letting Noni drive theirs. Nice couple Mom and Dad.
Wedding today.....excitement builds.....more later....I'll just be going along for the ride but it should be nice. Keep blogging.....

Here I am, blogging from Victoria. It is a cool and overcast day but beautiful for a walk. With all the blossoms, dogwood etc. it smells wonderful. There are lots of people out walking. I will wave and say hello but for the most part people here are quiet and reserved...but friendly and they will say hello. The whole place is as laid-back as I remember, there is nobody in a perticular rush. Lovely.
I don't know what the plan is today but I would like to go down to the harbour front and maybe take in the art gallery. Lyn and Alan's wedding is tomorrow. We went over last night to meet him and to see Lyn and the kids. Al is a nice, reserved, quiet, Victorian guy (Victorian in the nicest sense). He loves to garden and putter around the house (reminds me of my Dad) and he seems quite proud of the work he has done so far. With his efforts it will certainly be a more beautiful property someday . I haven't seen Noni or David yet but I look forward to seeing them come Saturday and the wedding.
I spent the night in Gary's new LAND YACHT. It is really nice. It has two pullouts, one for the dining nook and sofa and one for the bed and closets. With the pullouts out there is plenty of room. Unfortunately because of where it is parked, the pullouts can't be pulled out so while it is liveable it is still a bit cramped. But I am not complaining, it was a comfortable night, a bit cool (it got down to 40 deg f), but there is a little heater and with that going and a big down comforter, it was OK.
Well, better go for now, Keep on blogging!!!!!

Today is sunny and around 8-10 deg.c. This day last year it was 26 degrees c.! Well there you go.
Shopping ..............
Catherine was teaching this afternoon so I went out and did some shopping. I bought a dining tent at the SIR (big hunting) store. This will be a 'dining room pull-out' for our FLY. This, along with the 'dual pull-out full size beds' at either end of the FLY will make for more comfortable camping this summer up at the lake. Its all a matter of how you say it isn't it. LOL
I also made it over to Blue-Cross and submitted mother's application for 'basic' coverage. She was surprised to get a bill for the ambulance ride she had to take wwhen she had her nose bleed a couple of weeks ago. It cost her $260.00. Life is a learning curve.
I finally made it to the big new "Best Buy" electronic store. They moved into Winnipeg last year and other stores were worried that they would take over the market. But, at those prices, I think it will take quite a while. The pricing there ain't no great shakes, however I did buy an HP colour cartridge there (#78) for $49.00 and the pricing elsewhere is around $50 to $55. Big deal. Worth a look though if you have something special in mind.
Sounds like Gary is back from trying out his new RV up to the Nanoose camp for last weekend. Sounds like they had a good time....at least they aren't talking yet of trading it in! They had their Easter Dinner up there and all...sounds like fun.
Apparently the union workers out at the Bristol Rockwood plant are out on strike. There was a story in the Free Press about it this morning..........but they referrred to it as the Rockport Propellor plant instead of the Rockwood Propellant Plant. HEE HEE
Better go....gotta go walk the dawg. Lookin forward to the trip to Victoria....in two days. Keep blogging !

Hello, Monday. It was cool all weekend hovering around zero to +5 deg c. but it was sunny, and Sunday it was a little warmer. It is supposed to warm up over the course of the week and rise to 13 deg c by Thursday. Oh well, C'est la vie.
Condoleeza's testimony before the 9/11 commission was all over the talk shows yesterday. What pathetic testimony. ...filled with cliches. She said they shook the trees, refused to swat flies and that if they coulda, they woulda, but there just was "no silver bullet." Rice's testimony was intended to be a strong defense of her boss but in the final analysis was confirmation that someone in the Bush administration, possibly including her, dropped the ball. But hearing Bush's national security adviser repeatedly describe the Aug 6 PDB (memo) a possible smoking-gun document as a "historical document" was too much like listening to Janet Jackson explain her Super Bowl exhibitionism as "a wardrobe malfunction." No matter how many times you hear the story, it just doesn't sound any more credible.
Well, better go for now.....keep on blogging!!!!!!

Here it is Easter Sunday. Mom is here for turkey dinner. Catherine got a small (10lb) turkey this year. It was plenty big enough. We put the turkey in the oven and then went over to get Mom. By the time we picked up Mom and went for a drive the turkey lurkey was done. We were wurprised to fingd some nice hot cross buns in betweeen the doors when we got home . They were from Dorothy...what a sweet person. The turkey was almost falling apart so Catherine rushed to get everything else ready for dinner and the result was a superb trukey dinner. The dinner wine was a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc from Lapis, a BC winery...quite good (and reasonable too).....saucy and impertinent yet easy on the palet....in fact.....ready....it slides down your gullet like the devil wearing velvet pants!
LOL
I read Joel's new post today...keep on blogging ya'll!

Here is a poll conducted by the Globe and Mail. Surprising results since this is a special time for christians. The poll can be found at www.globeandmail.com.
We should commend the Globe and Mail for printing it - to counterbalance the

A number of religions will observe holy days this week, which prompts us to ask: Do you believe in God?
Yes
10974 votes (41 %)
No
13051 votes (48 %)
Not sure
2965 votes (11 %)
Total Votes: 26990
This is not a scientific study but the sampling of 26,990 votes is impressive. And the responses would be from across Canada. How many of these are regular church goers? Half?
Reminds me of a story. When I was just 15 turning 16 I to joined the Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders Reserve. We went to Shilo, MB on training for the summer. Every Sunday we had "Church Parade". No excuses....everyone had to go. One line for Protestants and one line for Catholics.....you were either one or the other. One week I chose to be a Catholic and the next week I would choose the Protestant line, alternating back and forth. This was an insult because I did not believe in God, never mind in a religion that worshipped him. PRIDE SWALLOWED....MUST OBEY. The only person to refuse to go in either line was a jewish guy from our platoon (can't remember his name). In the army there is no such thing as a refusal to follow orders. The Jewish kid was made to stand outside one of the churches for the duration of the ceremony (about and hour). In my books he was a hero, courageous for taking a stand. Some days it was damn hot and no one would want to stand outside for an hour in full uniform, but this kid did. I don't know why the army insisted on making us go to church, but they did. There is an old army saying that may be the key to the answer. It goes like this, and I may be paraphrasing, "On the battlefield, there are no atheists." Well, you know what....there was.....

Well, so much for sunny balmy days....this morning we had a skiff (skiff is a local word for dusting) of snow. Snots! Good Friday...BAH! Oh well its a Christian Holiday anyway! For us Humanists its a fair to middling Friday. If it was sunny it would be good. Why are the stores closed?....are we supposed to sit at home and do nothing?!?! Can't even go out to buy some wood and nails??? (I'm working on a fence, really!)

Here is an acronym for the situation in Iraq....SNAFU.....
You must read the Baghdad Burning blog. It gives you a good insight as to what is happening in Iraq right now. The woman who writes it is an ordinary Iraqi citizen, writing from her prespective. Neither extremist or pro-American. An interesting read...see the link on the right side of my blog. DO IT NOW....hehehe LOL
This is cute...some *senior ads* fro a Florida paper....
(Who says seniors don't have a sense of humour?)
FOXY LADY: Sexy, fashion-conscious blue-haired beauty, 80's, slim, 5'4"
(used to be 5'6"), searching for sharp-looking, sharp-dressing companion. Matching white shoes and belt a plus.
LONG-TERM COMMITMENT: Recent widow who has just buried fourth husband, and am looking for someone to round out a six-unit plot. Dizziness, fainting, shortness of breath not a problem.
SERENITY NOW: I am into solitude, long walks, sunrises, the ocean, yoga and meditation. If you are the silent type, let's get together, take our hearing aids out and enjoy quiet times.
WINNING SMILE: Active grandmother with original teeth seeking a dedicated flosser to share rare steaks, corn on the cob and caramel candy.
BEATLES OR STONES? I still like to rock, still like to cruise in my Camaro on Saturday nights and still like to play the guitar. If you were a groovy chick, or are now a groovy hen, let's get together and listen to my eight-track tapes.
MEMORIES: I can usually remember Monday through Thursday. If you can remember Friday, Saturday and Sunday, let's put our two heads together.
MINT CONDITION: Male, 1932, high mileage, good condition, some hair, many new parts including hip, knee, cornea, valves. Isn't in running condition, but walks well.
If this is Tuesday this must be Belgium...
Al Bertrand just got back from his European trip with students from the High school. He says he covered 4000 KMs in 14 days. But he says that it was interesting and he would have liked to have stayed a bit longer. I remember when Margot went on her High School trip to Europe. She went a young girl and came back a young lady....so much more mature.
Happy Anniversary Gary and Carol!!....
A belated (by one day) anniversary wish for both of you. You have made a nice couple for nigh on 42 years?....43? Anyhow if a couple was ever made to be together it is you two! You share so many values...its uncanny! Anyhow...I know that your are out at the Nanoose camp this weekend and you are going to celebrate out there but have a glass of wine and toast yourselves anyway....to a happy couple!!! Huzzzahhh.
Rice Rice Baby bundobadumbiladida...Rice Rice Baby...
That was supposed to be Vanilla Ice's ode to Condolezza. I actually got up early (8 o'clock AM) on Thursday to watch the live testimony (9/11 commission) of surely one of the most controversial Presidential security advisers since Abe Lincoln's security adviser told him to take it easy....go see a play. Straight-laced, stone faced lady who apparently never, ever makes mistakes. Her testimony was full of excuses and to the chagrin of some victims' families, Rice offered no apology for the events of Sept. 11. Richard Clarke, a former aide to Rice and Bush who accused them of failing to pay adequate attention to Al Qaeda before the attacks, had won over many family members by offering an apology when he appeared before the commission on March 24. All in all, it looks like incompetancy will out....no heads rolled and Bush is still smug as a bug in a rug. One of these days though Bush the cowboy will squat down with his spurs on! I laugh when he says of the criticism of the Iraq war....when people compare it to Vietnam; Bush says that Iraq can't be compared to Vietnam....because his recollection of the Vietnam war was spending a few days in the reserves in Texas...it was hot but really, nothing to it! Its also tragic that none of the deaths and maimings on the part of the Iraqis is show on CNN. There have been 10,000 + Iraqi deaths now and all that information is kept from the American public....hell even the American casualties who are transported home in coffins to an airbase in the US that is now off limits to reporters because Americans are too sensitive to be shown that in the papers and on TV. "Truth is the first casualty of war"....was that Patton?....Heston?
Better go ....gotta see a man about a Wallabee (old Aussie term) .........keep on blogging!

"Truth is the first casualty of war"....was that Patton?....Heston?
Better go ....gotta see a man about a Wallabee (old Aussie term) .........keep on blogging!

When my father died and my two brothers and I sat down to talk about him, we discovered that we were talking about three different men - and I had never met the other two.

This is a little poem from Ms. Frizzle:
*O you people of the business world,
How do you feel the seasons change?
Do you not sense May's surge of warmth,
the languorous days of early August,
the gathering urgency, the clean smell of September?*
its a beautiful sunny warm day, the birds are chirping and the smell of spring is in the air!

Margot Land
Here is something that you don't see often...Margot updated her blog! Looks like she is busy as usual. She also sends all her love to Lyn and wishes that she could be there for the wedding. Nice girl, do you know that she is going to be 26 this summer! Time flies!
It was around 15 deg c. today and sunny. People were out raking their lawns when we took the Princess for a walk. We accomplished a whole bunch of things today that we have been putting off for a while now; silly little things like a dog licence, a battery for my watch, and a few other things which meant going to several different shops around town. I still have a dozen or so items on my list that need to be done. Oh, I wish I was still working, then I could take it easy!
Since the success of "The Passion of the Christ", Jesus is being eyed for the title roles in other movies such as "Who Framed Roger Rabbi?", "Guess Who's coming to the Last Supper?", "Sleepless in Jerusalem", "Youv'e got Nail!" and even "The Cat in the Yarmulke". Anyhow, we wish him the best of luck at next year's Oscars!
Well, better go for now............KEEP ON BLOGGING!

The weather this weekend has been nice. The temps have been around 10 –12 degrees C. And sunny, lots of sun. The snow has almost disappeared entirely. The funny thing is that the grass was green when it snowed in the fall and there is still a lot of green grass when the snow melted. Better fire up the ole lawn mower!
This was a quiet weekend. We rented couple of movies. Friday we watched “21 Grams”. We rated it high…two thumbs up! Both Sean Penn and Benecio(?) Deltoro were great. In fact all the actors were great. On Saturday we saw “House of Sand and Fog” and again, the acting was very good and the story, which was taken from the book, was great. Jennifer Connely and Ben Kingsley played the leads. I think they both were nominated for Oscars for their performances in this movie. They both deserved to win it, based on this movie.
Today Nana came for dinner. We had BBQ’d steak, and baked potatoes, and some ‘Shrooms. Then we all watched the Juno award show. It was from Edmonton this year but next year it will be from the new MTS Centre right here in downtown Winnipeg. It should be good. They are in talks with many people and it looks like Neil Young might be coming for the show. I wonder who else will be coming?
I am looking forward to my little trip out west to Victoria and my niece Lyn’s wedding. It will be nice to see the kids again as I don’t get to see them too often.
Well, better get to bed and get some beauty sleep….Keep blogging

www.airamericaradio.com Check it out for the Franken-Factor!
Well here it is Thursday. Another beautiful sunny day with a temperature of about 12 deg c. You can tell the days are getting warmer because the dog is staying outside longer and longer and finding an ever-more expanding area to poop in. Yes, must spread the poop around. I don’t know what she eats but when her poop sits for a few days the grass in that spot turns real green! It looks real dumb when the rest of the grass is brown!
We went to the Palm D’or Commercial showing today at the Art gallery. 1 hours and 45 minutes of commercials. One of the good ones was a Budweiser commercial, a message from the Budweiser Institute claiming that they were the ones who ‘invented’ the Women’s movement, the 24 hour shopping channel and other s in order to allow men time to go out for a brew with their male buddies. Another good one was Martin Scorsese picking up prints at the photo store and being hyper critical on the colour, composition, perspective. All of them were quite well done and quite witty. We will have to return to the Art Gallery to have a look at the ‘Impressionist’ show they have on with pictures from Van Gogh, Dufy, Manet, etc. Well, another day.
Tonight, Catherine and I went to an executive meeting of the Humanist assoc. of MB. We are looking to have Humanist ‘Officiants’ (Secular Marriage commissioners) situated in Manitoba. The purpose is to offer a choice to people who want to get married but not in a religious ceremony. I would imagine that there may be more calls for it when (and I say when) homosexuals are allowed to marry in Manitoba. Groups are allowed to apply to have named members (priests, ministers, etc.). The problem is that these groups are assumed to be ‘religious’ groups only. It will be an uphill battle. I am also arranging for a meeting with Manitoba Human Rights Commission to discuss our concerns in other areas, too. I am excited about all the action that has developed within the group recently. Badabing…badaboom.
Back to the WCAM tomorrow for some undercover photo security and whimsical tours of lithographs, et all. If you get my meaning…nudge nudge wink wink. Eh wot?
Til the next time Keeponblogging!
