When my father died and my two brothers and I sat down to talk about him, we discovered that we were talking about three different men - and I had never met the other two.

Well, so much for sunny balmy days....this morning we had a skiff (skiff is a local word for dusting) of snow. Snots! Good Friday...BAH! Oh well its a Christian Holiday anyway! For us Humanists its a fair to middling Friday. If it was sunny it would be good. Why are the stores closed?....are we supposed to sit at home and do nothing?!?! Can't even go out to buy some wood and nails??? (I'm working on a fence, really!)
A text message dictionary...

Here is an acronym for the situation in Iraq....SNAFU.....
You must read the Baghdad Burning blog. It gives you a good insight as to what is happening in Iraq right now. The woman who writes it is an ordinary Iraqi citizen, writing from her prespective. Neither extremist or pro-American. An interesting read...see the link on the right side of my blog. DO IT NOW....hehehe LOL
This is cute...some *senior ads* fro a Florida paper....
(Who says seniors don't have a sense of humour?)
FOXY LADY: Sexy, fashion-conscious blue-haired beauty, 80's, slim, 5'4"
(used to be 5'6"), searching for sharp-looking, sharp-dressing companion. Matching white shoes and belt a plus.
LONG-TERM COMMITMENT: Recent widow who has just buried fourth husband, and am looking for someone to round out a six-unit plot. Dizziness, fainting, shortness of breath not a problem.
SERENITY NOW: I am into solitude, long walks, sunrises, the ocean, yoga and meditation. If you are the silent type, let's get together, take our hearing aids out and enjoy quiet times.
WINNING SMILE: Active grandmother with original teeth seeking a dedicated flosser to share rare steaks, corn on the cob and caramel candy.
BEATLES OR STONES? I still like to rock, still like to cruise in my Camaro on Saturday nights and still like to play the guitar. If you were a groovy chick, or are now a groovy hen, let's get together and listen to my eight-track tapes.
MEMORIES: I can usually remember Monday through Thursday. If you can remember Friday, Saturday and Sunday, let's put our two heads together.
MINT CONDITION: Male, 1932, high mileage, good condition, some hair, many new parts including hip, knee, cornea, valves. Isn't in running condition, but walks well.
If this is Tuesday this must be Belgium...
Al Bertrand just got back from his European trip with students from the High school. He says he covered 4000 KMs in 14 days. But he says that it was interesting and he would have liked to have stayed a bit longer. I remember when Margot went on her High School trip to Europe. She went a young girl and came back a young lady....so much more mature.
Happy Anniversary Gary and Carol!!....
A belated (by one day) anniversary wish for both of you. You have made a nice couple for nigh on 42 years?....43? Anyhow if a couple was ever made to be together it is you two! You share so many values...its uncanny! Anyhow...I know that your are out at the Nanoose camp this weekend and you are going to celebrate out there but have a glass of wine and toast yourselves anyway....to a happy couple!!! Huzzzahhh.
Rice Rice Baby bundobadumbiladida...Rice Rice Baby...
That was supposed to be Vanilla Ice's ode to Condolezza. I actually got up early (8 o'clock AM) on Thursday to watch the live testimony (9/11 commission) of surely one of the most controversial Presidential security advisers since Abe Lincoln's security adviser told him to take it easy....go see a play. Straight-laced, stone faced lady who apparently never, ever makes mistakes. Her testimony was full of excuses and to the chagrin of some victims' families, Rice offered no apology for the events of Sept. 11. Richard Clarke, a former aide to Rice and Bush who accused them of failing to pay adequate attention to Al Qaeda before the attacks, had won over many family members by offering an apology when he appeared before the commission on March 24. All in all, it looks like incompetancy will out....no heads rolled and Bush is still smug as a bug in a rug. One of these days though Bush the cowboy will squat down with his spurs on! I laugh when he says of the criticism of the Iraq war....when people compare it to Vietnam; Bush says that Iraq can't be compared to Vietnam....because his recollection of the Vietnam war was spending a few days in the reserves in Texas...it was hot but really, nothing to it! Its also tragic that none of the deaths and maimings on the part of the Iraqis is show on CNN. There have been 10,000 + Iraqi deaths now and all that information is kept from the American public....hell even the American casualties who are transported home in coffins to an airbase in the US that is now off limits to reporters because Americans are too sensitive to be shown that in the papers and on TV. "Truth is the first casualty of war"....was that Patton?....Heston?
Better go ....gotta see a man about a Wallabee (old Aussie term) .........keep on blogging!
