tired humanists with new teeth.

People never lie so much as after a hunt, during a war or before an election.
-------------
It's nearly 10pm Tuesday and we just got home from (1) the Lake. (2) taking Mom to the denturist (teeth look fine). (3) meeting at the Aviation Museum. (4) dinner meeting with the humanists. Boy are we pooped!....and boy is the dog happy to see us!
We had planned to go back out to the lake early tomorrow but there are still things to be done so we will probably stay until Friday morning...then spend the nest 4 or 5 days out at the lake. Must try and pick up a couple of jacks and a hose so we can (not to put too fine a point on it...blow out the biffy!...er black holding tank).
I see Gary is having a spot of car trouble up in Prince George B.C. His 'towing plate' came loose on the car and then to make matters worse, when it happened it also caused some structural damage to the car. That should be repaired in no time though and they should be on their way to Mike's place.
Too bad that they did not get the chance to see Margot on their way up because Margot was so looking forward to it. They will, so they say, see Margot and Joel on their way back home.
Well, better go and get to bed now *YAWN* Say hi to Mike and Charlene and the kids!

Bombers bomb but Kiwis bear fruit

It was Football night in Hamilton as the Winnipeg Blue Bombers (3 and 6) met the Hamilton Tiger-cats (0 and 8) in a clash of the titans. Due to the lacklustre play of both team's defenses, the offences went crazy. the final score was 41 for Hamilton to 39 for the Bombers.....boooooo. Hamilton got its first win Friday at Winnipeg's expense. Well Glenn shone as a quarterback and Stegall shone as a reciever and then Brazell made 200 yards catching passes (Brazell was aquired from the Ti-cats recently in a trade so he had something to prove). Good game to watch actually and your team cannot always win, right?

We came in early Friday afternoon just to watch the game at 6pm on TSN. We have been invited to Pat and Paul's place for dinner Saturday night (tonight), so we had to come in anyways. We will head back out tomorrow and then have to come in again on Tuesday AM to take Mom to get her new choppers. Then tuesday night we have a humanist dinner meeting to attend.

I got a letter from Bernice Petersen on friday. She gave her return address as :
A7
Private bag 3003
Hamilton, NZ
South Pacific
Planet Earth
Well, this tells me that she has the Ousey sense of humour. She also states that her daughter asked her if the Kiwis have and accent.....she replies, "No siree, we are the ones with the accents!" Bernice also said in the letter that once they finish their 'mission' of spreading the Mormon gospel, they will be travelling to the West Coast of the USA and then to Arizona and Dallas, Texas to visit their kids. When they are in Dallas they would like to cut over to Oklahoma to meet with Jack. They would bring their son Sandy from Dallas because he is very pro family and I guess that they think Jack is pro family too. Aftwards they are planning to hop up to Chicago area to visit cousins and they want to either drive or fly to Winnipeg to meet us. It would be nice to meet them as long as they park their crosses outside the door. Maybe they can come to a Humanist meeting with me! heehee She sent some pictures too. One of her husband the minister, in his temple clothes, and one of her and one of Jack Gruschow who lives in NZ and is our 5th cousin. He lives at Apt #8 - 10 Deere St. in Rotorua, NZ. I have been in touch via email with Jack on several occaisions, he is interested in geneology too.
well, better go and get ready to go out. Peace.

Wednesday

I spent the night at the house in Winnipeg last night.  It was REALLY quiet.  I kept expecting the dog to be underfoot, especially every time I went to the fridge and when I am on the computer she is usually right beside me on her blanket.  And sleeping alone is no fun.  Funny, but I used to be out of town a lot when I was working.   Although I enjoyed the travel, I never really enjoyed being away from home but usually was so busy that I didn't have time to think about it.  In many ways it is different now, Catherine and I are married and have been for a long time but we are also best friends and spend lots of time together.  Being retired has changed us.....I think we are closer now than we have ever been.  Of course the dog is a companion too and who loves you more than your dog?  No matter what mood you are in the dog doesn't care she just wags her tail and loves you.
I pulled a shift at the Air Museum this morning and there was some excitement...  About 25 years ago a couple of members of the museum pulled a 1929 Junkers F13 out of the bush in BC's interior.  It has been sitting in a quonset hut at St. Andrews airport for those 25 years until today.  Today it is being shipped to the Deutsches Technikmuseum in Berlin where they will take five years to refurbish it and then they will ship it back to our museum for display for five years, then it will go back to Germany for display for five years and alternate like that.   It's the first contract that Germany has signed with a museum outside of Germany.  Neat HUH?  Oh yeah, they were shooting a movie in the Vickers Viscount and they will be there all week.  Speaking of movies, Brad Pitt is coming to town to do some filming for a movie and they are having a call for bit parts....maybe I should go? They could probably use a stunt double for Brad!....I am available.  nyuk nyuk
I got back to Gimli just in time for a downpour of rain.  We got quite a bit...20 to 30 mms ore so.  Sunshine tomorrow, I hope!
Peace.

Nature always sides with the hidden flaw.

Here I am at the Gimli and district library. The computers here are free for the using and since I am a member...... Anyways, I can check my email every once in a while while I am out here, so BLOG away!!!! Gary has taken off on his trip up to northern BC and I guess that he will blog intermittently...when he can.
We has a ton of rain last night ...maybe 20 to 30 mms. We were supposed to show the old trailer to someone last night and we we went over when it started to pour and as we were sitting there it started to leak in a couple of places....sheesh, so we spent this AM caulking the damn thing. Catherine had to get up on the roof becasue if I got up there it would probably cave in! I'll be glad when that thing is gone...its a worry.
Well better go... Catherine is givng me the 'impatient eye'. Later....peace.

My 650th blog....woohoo

Nature always sides with the hidden flaw.

Ahoy there, Mateys, can I come aboard your land yacht? Well, I just got off the phone with brother Gary. He and his co-pilot Carol are 'on the road again'. They are going to get their RV on the road and head up around Terrace and Prince George area to see their son Mike and his family. They will be picking up Carol's brother Louis in Prince George to keep Carol company on the latter part of the trip.

Anyhow, I am in the city because of having to drive Momsy back. She was up at the lake with us in our trailer and she really enjoyed it. I am glad that she did because she could have made it hell.... We even got out to a halibut and chips dinner at Kris's Fish and Chips. The only problem was that she did not want to walk much at all. Catherine and I did get to the beach and we got out and walked the dog but she refused to even get out of the car and she looked so pathetic sitting all alone in the back seat.
Well its off to the Museum tomorrow and then to the Lake right after to rejoin Catherine and the dog. PEACE.

Sunday August 21, 2005

It's Sunday night and we are at the lake with Mom.  We got here about noon.  Mom sure likes the trailer, she says that it is much better than in the pictures.
We were supposed to meet a woman who wanted to have a look at our old trailer at one o'clock.  Cathy and I went over to the old trailer just before 1pm and opened the trailer up.  We opened all the windows and vents and turned on the fan.  You know that with the lights on and all, it looks pretty good.   Well, we waited for an hour or so and she never showed.  I spoke to the neighbour who knew this woman and told her to call me when this woman arrived.  I did not hear anything until this woman called at about 5:30pm.  She had gone to the wrong RV Park?!?!  Somehow she ended up at Spruce
Woods Campground....missed us by about 100 kilometres!  Here all the time I thought that since she knew our neighbour that she knew where her neighbour had their trailer.   Anyhow this dingbat doesn't bother asking us OR HER FRIEND for directions!   Always striving to be polite, I said, "No Problem, when can you come out to have a look at the darn ole trailer?"   Upshot is that she will be out on Wednesday at about suppertime so she can have a look at it then.  I hope she gets directions this time and I hope she buys the damn trailer!
Well, we had a nice fire in the fire pit tonight and after fruitlessly looking for Peter Mansbridge and the News, I might as well turn in.  This fresh air just does me in!
Peace.

Pot, mushrooms and Anglican Ministers

Never let your sense of morals get in the way of doing what's right.
----------------
We had a good get-together at the home of one of our fellow Humanists. It was a 'pot-luck' and there was plenty of food and wine to keep the spirits up. The bad part was that it was an hour and a half's drive to get there. Beautiful though it was, being on the Winnipeg River. We came back with a large zucchini and some huge oyster mushrooms. One of our new members was there. He joined us in May and told us he was an Anglican Minister who became disillusioned with the church and all its trappings. He came to the Humanist 'pot-luck' with his wife who most definitely was still a devout Anglican type person. As happens when Humanists (some would say free-thinkers) get in a room we started railing on about religion in schools and the push in the USA to teach 'intelligent design' in the schools instead of evolution. We forgot all about her and she withdrew, eventually telling her husband that she wanted to go home now.....now. I am sure that we will see him again but she left the impression, or rather the distinct impression that she would not be coming with him to any of our meetings. Just as well, she left behind her lemon poppy-seed cake! mmmmmm-good.
Mom stayed at our place babysitting the pooch. The two of them are bonding nicely. When we got home at 10pm the dog was fast asleep on the couch and the Mom was fast asleep on the love-seat. Tomorrow we are going to take Mom out to the Lake to stay in the trailer for a couple
of days. It's supposed to be sunny and warm for at least Sunday to Tuesday. We have someone who wants to see our old trailer tomorrow.
I hope that they buy it. That would be a load off my mind.
anyhow.....peace.

Yo Bro, call me Can't-Pee Diddy

I'm going to become a rapper.....call myself 'Can't Pee Diddy'.

This is boring. I want to go out to the lake. But, the weather hasn't cooperated and we got a Humanist 'pot luck' on Saturday out in Silver Falls on Winnipeg River. We will have to go out on Sunday though because we have somebody who wants to look at the old trailer. Besides, we are taking Mom out to see our new trailer. She may stay the night or two, it's up to her...or we may take her back Sunday night, in which case I will still drive back to the lake after I drop her off. I would like to spend the better part of next week our there since the weather is supposed to cooperate and be in the high 20's...that's 80-85 degs F for U Mericans.
It's supposed to be sunny too. Just hope there's no skunks. Ain't it funny that the only wildlife we have seen out at the lake are little bunnies and in in the city this year we have seen foxes, skunks, deer, and there is an infestation of racoons in St. James.
Catherine had a meeting with the people she has been asked to marry this afternoon. They have apparently set the date of Oct. 1st as their wedding day and the attendees have grown from 2 only to around 10. This will be Catherine's first ceremony and she is pouring over her stuff just to get it right.
Anyhow, better get to bed...another NYT's X-word awaits! Nitey-nite.
Peace

Ok Mr. Le Pew. Ready or not here I come!!!!!! I got home from the museum and donned my protective gear in order to roust the suspect skunk but when I got to the shed there was no skunk to be found. I guess I'll have to return the gear to United Army Surplus! The skunk has flown the coop...lucky for him! Posted by Picasa

Now let's see...Where is that gas mask?

You can stand tall without standing on someone. You can be a victor without having victims......

It was a dark and stormy...no, sultry night. We had just pulled into our driveway, home from the Lake and dog tired, and a small furry black animal scurried in front of the car. I caught a glimpse of it...it had a white stripe down its back...WHITE STRIPE?!?! Egads! It was a small skunk and it scurried into the bushes at the front of the house. Luckily the beagle did not see it and anyways, I had her on her leash. "Close encounter of the stinky kind", I said to Catherine. We went into the house quickly. After unpacking a few boxes the dog decided that she needed to pee and stood at the door wanting to go out. I had notice the last time we were in town a week ago that the beagle had been preoccupied with the area behind the shed but we have many squirrels and I thought that it was just one more and let the dog free in the backyard but followed her out just to make sure the skunk de phew was not lurking around. The dog BOLTED, first for an area beside the fence and then towards the shed. In front of the shed stood the skunk with its tail raised and before I could say skunk de phew, the beagle got sprayed....not the full spray but enough that it is an indelible memory for Catherine and I. I grabbed the dog and we went back in the house. I called to Catherine that we "Had Incoming!"...the dog stunk up the place. My first instinct was to run a bath but in order to do so I had to leave the dog. The dog at the same time was intent on 'getting the stink off its nose and face' and was in the bedroom rubbing her face all over the shag rug. Our dog does not like taking a bath......period. To heck with the stink....I'm OK!...don't need a bath, No Sir. I had to drag her scratching and yelping into the bathroom where I closed the door. There was just Catherine, the dog and I in there and every time I went to grab the dog and get her into the tub, there was a scuffle. Finally, I just grabbed her and threw her into the tub...SPLASH. Well, I got the dog clean but damn near drowned myself doing it! While this was going on, Catherine was in the bedroom spraying all kinds of stuff on the shag rug in an effort to get the stink out. The dog, still very wet, took off careening down the hall way bouncing off the walls and spent the next half hour running all over the house rubbing herself against anything that would help get her dry...and she still wasn't smelling like a rose. But all of us, being dog tired and I guess the dog being human tired after a long long day finally got to bed around midnight. You can still smell the skunk stuff today although Mom said, when she walked into the house, that she couldn't smell it at all.
Darn skunks....now Catherine has given me an ultimatum....get rid of the damn skunks or she will call a pest control guy and get it done for a fee! Canèt have that, I'm a man and I can get rid of a couple of darn skunks...now let's see, where did I put that gas mask?
Peace.

Now let's see...Where is that gas mask?

Still out at Grimli-on-the-lake.  We plan on going into Winnipeg tomorrow.   We have to shop and do laundry and Tuesday we have to take Mom in to see her false-teethologist to be fitted for new teeth...that will take the better part of Tuesday afternoon.  We have a big bash to go to on Saturday and it is in Silver Bay on the Winnipeg River, so that it on the other side of the lake from Grimli, so it doesn't make sense to go from here so we will probably not be back until Sunday.   We would like to bring Mom out for a couple of days and that will be on Sunday...if she wants.
We had Paul and Pat out here on Saturday, they came about noon and went back about 9pm.  We took a long walk along the beachfront and then hit several stores, including Tergeson's place, which has been here over 100 years and is THE place to shop in Grimli.   We stopped at the Liquor Mart to get even more coolers and then headed back to the trailer for a steak dinner.  The steaks were large and thick but the 'grill-to-go' was up to the task and all were done perfectly.  The dinner was complete with Carol's green goop for desert and a couple of bottles of wine.
Tonight we had Brian and Roz (a couple from the old 'E' or Echo section) and Peter and Sue (our new neighbours from 'A' or Alpha section) over for some drinky-poos and some risqué talk, like, "That guy with the two dogs that bark all the time, we call him 'two-dog Mike', got a new gazebo." "Yeah, I saw it, it's pretty big." "Yeah, it's 10' x 14' and he's got a platform underneath." "Whoa!" "Wanna beer?"
Loads of fun.
There is a show on CBC news about war photographers...gruesome pictures.  Must be hard to be driven to take pictures in an effort to stop war and have to live with those images.  How many pictures will it take?   One more??
Also on the news if this woman who is camped in front of Bush's house in Crawford,  Texas.   She blames him for her son's death in  Iraq.  Of course, Bush will not even talk to her.  Where was the Weapons of Mass Destruction?   Seven more US Marines killed on the weekend by 'insurgents'....What did Bush say BRING IT ON.  A lot of bravado from someone who avoided the Vietnam War with the help of his Daddy.
Oh well, Peace.

Kind of a quiet day around here.  We got a lot done including putting plastic on the picnic table, cutting the grass, going for a bike ride, walking the dog, joining the local library.  We are now official "locals" since we have a PO Box number.  And now we can say, "If it's tourist season, why can't we shoot 'em?"
Our local address is:
PO BOX 681
Gimli, MB
R0C 1B0
........Send us a card or a letter, we'd love to hear from youse all.   We are spending more time here at the lake than at our house in the city, although we get home at least once a week for a couple of days.
Gas just went up here to over a dollar/litre.  I gather it is $1.03.9/litre in the city.  Of course we still get 7.5 cents off of that at Super-store.
I just went into Gimli and picked up some wine because Paul and Pat will be coming out tomorrow for the day/dinner.  It won't be too nice though, about 20 deg C but sunny, as long as there is no wind it should be nice.  Man, you could shoot a cannon down the main street (called Centre St.).  It's like deadsville man.
There is a huge 'wind farm' in St. Leon, Manitoba I gather that they will have around 60 wind turbines when all is said and done.  Neat, they are expensive to install  but the long term benefits are huge.  Kenora, a town just on the Ontario side of the Manitoba/Ontario border is clamouring to secede from Ontario and join Manitoba and one of the big benefits is that electrical energy costs in Manitoba are half that of Ontario.  The electrical energy needs in Ontario are so big that Manitoba will be going ahead with the big Conawopa dam project just to export the energy to Ontario.  We already have agreements to export energy to many of the northern States like Minnesota, the Dakotas, etc.  We have had a lot of rain this year and the only real benefit is excess power.
Well, time for the news.....later ....peace

Rainy day.   We sure had a nice sleep last night on our new mattress topper...that memory foam is real comfy.  Now I think we have to get one for our bed at home!   By the time we get back to Costco next Monday, they will probably be out of them.  Anyhow, nothing to do but go for a wet walk and take a little trip into Winnipeg Beach for an ice-cream.  I had a bit of a laugh at Suzie who insisted on drinking water out of the pail that catches the roof runoff.  There was a damsel fly (small dragon fly) in the water doing a backstroke and Suzie was slurping the water around it.  The more Suzie slurped the faster the damsel fly swam.  In honour of the damn flies courage, I got it out of the water and set it free.
The sun will come out tomorrow.   Time for a shower and the news and then to bed.  So TATA and Peace.

We are back at the lake.  It is about 21 deg c....coldish but sunny and the sun feels good.  Awful quiet here during the week, not many people in the stores or on the beach.  Pat and Paul are coming up for the day Saturday so it looks like a day of wine and steaks on the grill to go!......boy that little thing is handy, much easier than a larger BBQ...thanks for the tip Gary!
I have a DWL -G650 Xtreme G 2.4 GHz Wireless cardbus adapter.   Now I have to find me an open WIFI connection.   Tomorrow I will cruise the library and the businesses in town to see if I can score a connection.
Snow in Australia? What next?....who says the climate is not changing?...Oh yeah, The Bushies.
We went to Costco and besides the cardbus adapter (HeeHee), a necessity, we picked up a 2.5" memory foam mattress topper.  I tried it for a nap tonight and it is comfy...mmmmmmmm.
Well, time to watch the news and then hit the foam.......later!   Peace

"Quotes from the The American Taliban"

If you don't think that the Christian far right in the USA has an agenda, then read this and weep my friend. I'll bet Thomas Jefferson and James Madison, two of the main authors of the American Constitution, are turning over in their graves. They believed strongly in the separation of church and state.

House grills over BS

You can never get enough of what you don't need to make you happy.

Well, I have finally succumbed.....I have started to wear socks with my sandals. Gary would be proud.....you taught us well ol' Yoda.

Jack bought a house! And it is a great looking house too.... and as luck would have it, a little place out back for a studio! Can't wait to get down there to see it. I am so happy for Jack, he needed a change like this...I am sure that the boys will be happy there too. See his blog for pics at Jackaroo.

Yesterday Margot phoned us at the lake. It was her last day at the Kettle of Fish and her friends on the staff were going to have a little party for her after the shift was over AND today she started her new job at "Rain City Grill"!!! She was looking forward to that. Good on ya girl!!!! We are very proud. See Rain City Grill .

This afternoon, shortly after we got home and unpacked the car, I had to check my e-mail (a priority). I was a bit hungry ....we were active today and I should have eaten more than that cereal I had for brekkie and the hot dog I had for lunch. It all came crashing down on me when my blood sugar plummeted and even though I can remember actually using the word 'plummet' I was in a daze like state. Catherine took me and fed me some 'quick fix' orange juice and something else I can't remember but then I had to rest and woke up two hours later. I don't know if you would call it sleeping as much as your mind going all mushy like and you have no alternative but to close your eyes and let come over you. It is a reminder to me to be more careful as I did take an extra dose of insulin in the morning because my BS (blood sugar, stupid) was high. Its kind of like just running out of gas.......I don't know what I would do without Catherine there to help me. Now I am having some chocolate as a treat.

Anyhow, we will toil around here for a couple of days and then head back to the lake to rough it .....remember only 4 TV channels out there! I took some pics of the trailer, and then of course I forgot my camera out there. Mind like a sleeve, sliver, salvo, sieve.
Peace

Good training, luck (good and bad), a rain slicked runway, a sudden tail wind, hydroplaning, good Canadian common sense (no panicking)......this was the crash of the Air France jet Airbus 340  in Toronto on last Thursday.   Yet the newspapers and the CBC news seem to imply that it was a "miracle".  When these things happen and people are not killed ...its a miracle.  Who caused the damn thing?..is that a miracle too?   Where was the miracle during the tsunami that occurred last December?.....250,000 people died.  Where is the miracle in Darfur?   They must have been all BAAAAD people.  Crap!   Miracle indeed BAH HUMBUG!!

Well, se are still at the lake.  Got a whole lot done today.  Finished cleaning up the old trailer and bringing more stuff over here.  I lifted a storage bin that was behind the old trailer and there were three frogs under it.....why its a miracle I didn't pee my pants!  Got the grass cut and finished cleaning and  replacing the 'over the slider awning' (don't know what you would call it).  The roller was binding on the lip of the slider and me and my neighbour Peter put spacers under the flanges and that brought the roller out further in front of the lip.......see, anyways it is now well away from binding on the lip.   Its a good thing.

Like I said before, got to get back to the city tomorrow. Its been bloody hot here.   My right big toe (I think that is the piggy that had roast beef) is throbbing.  I hope that it is not that cellulitis coming back.  Maybe its just gout....painful but I can deal with that.  I put a cold pack on it and it feels a lot better.  Its too damn hot, here it is 11pm and it is still 25 deg C.   We went for a stroll by the beach today and there were many many people in the water and some hairballs on those 'seados'.

Well better get to bed. later.....peace.

Hot, Quiet, Suzie, Bombers, TATA

Hello there.   It is Saturday night and we are at the lake....in our new trailer.  It has been a busy day.  It has been hot (over 30 deg c) and humid both yesterday and today and tomorrow ;looks the same.  It's a good thing that we have air conditioning in this thing. We are now situated on a fully serviced lot and our nearest neighbour is a guy that I used to work with.  Peter is a certified engineer and is quite knowledgeable in things mechanical, so he is a great neighbour to have.  We worked on the trailer today, taking in the rollup that covers the slideout and cleaning it up so it will roll better.  He also showed me how the awning works, I was a bit hesitant as it has a centre support and seems a bit more complicated but turns out that it was rather easy to work.  We also plugged up a small hole in the front grey water tank, there is one at the front and another grey tank at the rear.  Why there is two, I don't know.
The one at the front is for the kitchen sink only...go figure.   Anyhow, I took some pics and I will forward them and perhaps post one on the blog even.  We also cleaned up the old trailer and we will be selling that one ASAP.
Pretty quiet out here this weekend.   Last weekend it was pretty wild with the ISlendigadagurin festival and all....a lot of hootin' and hollerin'.  This turns out to be a great spot for us...er me anyways, as it is about 200 metres from the new Gimli Hospital.  I don't need it but its nice to know its there.
Someone came to the door this AM and of course Suzie had to get out to greet them...she must have forgot where she was because she missed the bottom two steps and spent the rest of the day limping about.  Poor doggie, but she is much better this evening and is only limping to score a cookie.  Poor smart doggie.
We have to get back to the city on Monday in order to take Momsy to the denturist early
Tuesday.
Hey, good news....bad news.  Good news is I got to see the Bomber game tonight on our big 13" AC/DC Sansui, the bad news is that they sucked and lost to Calgary.  I have to get a bigger TV, well I have to convince someone of the merits of that.  Seems Catherine doesn't care if we have a TV or not...obviously not a Bomber fan!
Well, better go.  Its amazing how many channels you get late at night.
Peace.

Momsy update

The dissenter is every human being at those moments of his life when he resigns momentarily from the herd and thinks for himself.........

Just an update on Momsy. We took her to Dr. Long to check on her sight. It is suspected that she had glaucoma. Well, the Dcotor gave us a qualified MAYBE. If it is glaucoma, it is in the very primary stages. The diagnosis is that he wants to see her every 6 months or so to 'keep and eye on it'......I can't see that. nyuk nyuk "Hey boss, I can't come into work, I got vison problems.....I can't see myself coming to work!" nyuknyuk

By the way, Momsy is going to have cataracts removed and we are waiting to get an appointment.....did I say that before? Could be 6 months away.

Looking forward to seeing Gary in Oct? What are the dates man???? Gotta plan these things!
Peace

Nature always sides with the hidden flaw.

Glad to hear about Gary's shoulder. Keep golfing if it doesn't hurt you, besides it can always be an excuse for an errant shot!

Yes, we like the new trailer very much and can't wait to get into it tomorrow. I am sure that Gary will get the chance in Oct. to kick the tires.

I went for my checkup in June and the Doc says that my LDL is good and my HDL is good but my FDL is high...I said, "FDL, Doc I never heard of that one!" He said, "FDL, you know Fried Doughnut Level!" nyuk nyuk. Well its true, I can't pass up those mini doughnuts!

We have to take Momsy to the eye doctor again this afternoon. They think she might have glaucoma. Id she does have it it must be in the early stages and if that is the case it will be easily treatable. I hope the darn appointment doesn't take 2 hours like the last time we went to see him.

It has been coolish (around 23- 24 deg c the last couple of days nut no rain!). Its a nice respite from the hot temps, but it is back up to 30, 32 deg c over the next week or so starting tomorrow.

It is a good idea for Lewis to go to Eastern Europe to find a soulmate. I am sure that the women in Eastern Europe are equally as desperate to find a kind and considerate Western man who would sweep them off their feet.

Well, got to go and insure the trailer and then pick up Momsy for her appointment. So, later Gators!

Peace

To avoid criticism, do nothing, say nothing, be nothing.

Hot Hot. 32.5 deg c and a great big sunny, relentless, blazing ball of fire in the sky. Lots of heat into the weekend too. Good thing the new trailer has AC. We will probably be in it on Friday if all goes as planned. The house...er trailer warming will be on Saturday, can y'all come?

We renewed our Costco card and proceeded to go and buy a bunch of stuff, big soap thingys, big bag o'peanuts, no problemo. It would be a great place for and outfit like the Canadian Army to stock up on things. they had a real scute little electric motor scooter for $800. It'll do 30 KPH and go 100 hours on a charge. That would be great for Gary to strap on the back of his RV and tool around those campsites, especially the Walmart concrete campgrounds ....of course Gary would probably fall off and hurt himself...heehee

Oh, there was a single mother and her two kids who wrote to the Free Press here and said that they were planning a trip to Winnipeg and asking if there was anything to do here. The paper picked up on it and they arrived last night and are being treated like royalty....staying at the ladidah Fairmont Hotel for nothing and being wined and dined by dozens of families who invited them to their cottages, homes, etc. And you wonder why I like Winnipeg...its the people. You can read the story here.

Well, see ya laters gators. Peace.

Talk slow, they are Americans. HeeHee

Age does not protect you from love, but love to some extent protects you from age.*******

Kind of biding our time until we can get into our new trailer....
We cut short our weekend in Gimli and came back on Sunday because Nana was dogsitting Suzie. They appear to have gotten along well. Nana was feeling secure having an alert, mean, barking bow-wow to warn her of any dangerous goings on and Suzie was just glad to have someone there to keep giving her cookies.
I pulled a shift at the museum today and we had a group of 60 mostly Americans, come in for a tour. They are in Winnipeg with an Airstream club. This is a group that all have airstream trailers. I wonder if there is a Jayco group, hmm? Anyhow, this Airstream group is having a wonderful time in Winnipeg, taking in all the sites like Fort Whyte Nature Centre and the Air museum, and taking in events like Folklorama, which just started and runs for two weeks. With the Folk Festival and the Fringe Festival both in July Winnipeg is a great place to be. It's too bad some people have to come here with preconceived notions and not open minds like this airstream group.

Peace........
