Kind of a quiet day around here.  We got a lot done including putting plastic on the picnic table, cutting the grass, going for a bike ride, walking the dog, joining the local library.  We are now official "locals" since we have a PO Box number.  And now we can say, "If it's tourist season, why can't we shoot 'em?"

........Send us a card or a letter, we'd love to hear from youse all.   We are spending more time here at the lake than at our house in the city, although we get home at least once a week for a couple of days. 

Gas just went up here to over a dollar/litre.  I gather it is $1.03.9/litre in the city.  Of course we still get 7.5 cents off of that at Super-store. 

I just went into Gimli and picked up some wine because Paul and Pat will be coming out tomorrow for the day/dinner.  It won't be too nice though, about 20 deg C but sunny, as long as there is no wind it should be nice.  Man, you could shoot a cannon down the main street (called Centre St.).  It's like deadsville man. 

There is a huge 'wind farm' in St. Leon, Manitoba I gather that they will have around 60 wind turbines when all is said and done.  Neat, they are expensive to install  but the long term benefits are huge.  Kenora, a town just on the Ontario side of the Manitoba/Ontario border is clamouring to secede from Ontario and join Manitoba and one of the big benefits is that electrical energy costs in Manitoba are half that of Ontario.  The electrical energy needs in Ontario are so big that Manitoba will be going ahead with the big Conawopa dam project just to export the energy to Ontario.  We already have agreements to export energy to many of the northern States like Minnesota, the Dakotas, etc.  We have had a lot of rain this year and the only real benefit is excess power.
