And indeed there will be time
For the yellow smoke that slides along the street,
Rubbing its back upon the window-panes;
There will be time, there will be time
To prepare a face to meet the faces that you meet;
There will be time to murder and create,
And time for all the works and days of hands
That lift and drop a question on your plate;
Time for you and time for me,
And time yet for a hundred indecisions,
And for a hundred visions and revisions,
Before the taking of a toast and tea.

In the room the women come and go
Talking of Michelangelo.

The scenery is here ...wish you were beautiful! anon
..........

Well, we did it!... we actually found that the couple who were selling their RV were in the market for a small pop-up RV that they could take on short camping trips and maybe the odd longer trip. So we as much made a straight trade (they were asking $5600.00 for it and we paid $5000.00 for the pop-up last year so not too bad a deal) for the 1979 24' Holiday Rambler c/w toilet and shower, A/C, propane/electric fridge, propane ss 4 burner + oven stove, 2 twin beds and dining room set turns into queen size bed, loads of cupboards space., screened dining tent, 9' x 12' patio, large pie shaped secluded lot, c/w large storage bin, fire pit (marshmallows not included), lots of good and friendly neighbouring campers....whew. Needless to say we are excited at the prospect of getting out in the Rambler to do some camping. I have to go back to the campsite and retrieve the pop-up tomorrow and deliver it to those nice people we traded it to. They just live over off Avalon in St. Vital...not far from here. We knew that the trailer was for us when Suzie went in and laid down, promptly making herself at home. Life is good. I will send pics later.

Be cool my babies! keep jogging...er blogging

The problem with the USA is that they need a new President! HOOAHH

Well, nothing presidential going on in our house today. We had planned on getting out to the campsite today but it was just too rainy and dreary. We will go out tomorrow though, even if its just for the day. We have to meet the people selling their trailer tomorrow at one o'clock.

I got some things done around the house though. Cleaned out the bushes at the front of the house and primered the wooden board under the third bedroom window. Catherine spent the day looking for web sites of marriage commissioners and figuring how many marriages were done outside of church by commissioners. Across Canada, it seems that the province with the most 'non-church' weddings is BC. Way to go BC...Can't win at hockey or football! LOL...kidding.

Well, better get to bed if I want to get up early and get to Gimli. So TATA, pip pip, tally -ho, Don-ho and good night. *yawn*

---------

Here we are 2 in the morning on Friday. I could not sleep. Don't get me wrong, I went ot bed and woke up ten minutes later absolutely refreshed and wide awake. So here I am...seeking succor in my computer. Simon seeks simple succor on saturday....aliteration or is that asonance?

Not much happening around here. Catherine is subbing for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday this week. I went to the museum on Wednesday and today did a few errands like renewing the subscription to Manitoba Theatre Centre. The big play coming next spring is "Mamma Mia" but you have to get separate tickets for that one. Should be good. Catherine got her Marriage Commissioner licence today. She was all excited about that. Now she will be the first 'Humanist' Marriage Commissioner in Manitoba. I will have to set up a web page for her. That is my mission for tomorrow...that or paint something if it is not raining. The air-show is the weekend of the 5th and 6th of June and I will be setting up the little air museum gift shop out there so I got to be there for the two days. We are selling t-shirts, pins, snow-birds stuff etc. This weekend we are going out to Gimli. Its supposed to rain so we may not be out for long. We have to be there on Sunday to see the trailer that is for sale. Its a 24 foot trailer with all the amenities like air and washrooms but it is a '79 and could need some repair. But it is on a great site and that would come with the package.

Better go and get some sleep.......*Yawn* keep blogging!!!!

Here is a picture of a an oil by Buckley Ousey. A guy named Robert Winter bought it in England. Here is the contents of his e-mail:

Dear Sir, This may just be a coincedence, but I have been trying to research a late
19th century ( Victorian) artist/painter who signed his/her works B. Ousey.....mainly of marine paintings and landscapes. One or two have come up for sale in the UK recently, which I really like, but I have not been able to locate a history of this artist. On searches your name keeps coming up with your own connections to the Arts. Do you have any knowledge of B. Ousey?..probably not...but I thought it worth asking!! If you would like to see a jpeg of one of his paintings I will forward it to you. Many thanks,

Robert Winter Wendover Buckinghamshire England.

This e-mail was actually sent to Jack, after Robert Winter used the internet to search the name and found Jack the artist listed.

Last weekend was kind of shitty. The weather was wet and cool. We got our car back from the repair shop on Friday but then our water heater sprung a leak and we had to get it replaced 'tout de suite'. Anyhow, we went to the campground on Saturday only and spent Sunday cutting grass and moping around the house. Today I went with the Creative Retirement group to 'Riel House' and the 'St. Boniface Museum' Both were very interesting. Did you know that whenever the English (Canadians) won a skirmish they called it a battle and whenever the Metis won a skirmish they called it a massacre. Anyhow lots to be learned about Louis Riel and the Metis culture....must start now...must start now...nap first...then start.

Keep blogging....Hey even Jack blogged this weekend!

Here it is Queen Victoria's birthday. Happy birthday Queenie...I wish I knew ye.

Today is a coolish day at around 18, yet quite nice, there is no wind. I cut the grass yesterday. It grows like weeds...wait a minute it is weeds...bah. I hate cutting grass. I swear astroturf would be a much better alternative to grass..no need to cut it, water it, weed it, and it remains green all summer (winter too for that matter)! Just think of the savings...and no pollution from chemicals or the damn lawnmower. I like the Arizona approach...sand and the odd cactus.

Above is a picture of my dog Suzie "camping"...I should have called her 'Smeagle' then she would be Smeagel the Beagle. Come here my preciousss... bwahahaha

I got an e-mail from Jack. Apparently he is planning on coming to Winnipeg July 29th (Thurs) to Aug 5th (Thurs). He is coming with the two boys. It will be nice to see them. We will have to plan activities that will keep them busy, busy.

Well, keep blogging, ya'll.

"Nature is too much with us"...Tarzan

Well, today we hauled the 'big-rig' out to the campsite at Gimli. Everyone seemed so friendly, stopping by to say hello and even introducing themselves. Even the dog seemed happy there, well maybe a little nervous about the two big dogs next door but they seem well behaved and rather quiet. Suzie is pretty quiet too...I haven't heard her bark since last September when mean ole Chuffley wuz eatin' one of her cookies!...WOOF! They must have had some rain out there because there is an abundance of standing water. We did not stay the night as 'twas too cool...Shakespeare wouldst say that it was "Ever cold so that it wouldst turn frosty the odd codpiece...and thou doest not want a frosty codpiece, Milord!". We are in site E14 and across the road from us is E15 wherein doth reside an older but stylish trailer and they do ask a very nominal price for said trailer which sleeps 6, has a/c, propane stove & heat, looks large from the outside and resides on a large nice site (with a patio no less). My lady and I would be interested in seeing the inside and having a chat with the owners who would have been there today if it weere not for the fact that they were not...there today that is...I shall try to catch them tomorrow as they did not answer their phone in the city tonight either.

Sometimes you pass the stone and sometimes the stone passes you...

I had my annual check-up with my Doctor two weeks ago and everything seems to be stable and that is good, except that he said that on an x-ray he could see a large kidney stone....about 4mm in size. I hope that it works its way out before it gets too large. the last time I passed a stone (7mm refer to pics!) it shot out rather like it came from a canon and ricochetted off the toilet seat and skittered across the bathroom floor and down the hallway nearly hitting the dog who was trying to attract my attention to the supply of cookies residing behind the hallway closet door!....whew. I learned afterwards that the upper limits in kidney stone passing was in the range of 6mm and I had beaten it by 1mm...is there an award for that, if not there should be...or at least a cookie for my dog.

Life and repairs are what happens to you when you're drivin' a Ford...

You will be glad to know that the Taurus is running well now. They haven't figured out why the ABS light is coming on..."Could be a short!", Greg the mechanic says but we'll put it on the computer to see. They fixed the front end...ball-joints, tie-rods and a couple of anti-pollution devices that cost an arm and a leg, they were causing the "Check the Engine Soon Dummy" light to come on ...it is now off. So all is well except that I'll have to take the car back in as soon as Greg the mechanic deciphers the 12 pages of computer print-out that refers to what is wrong with my ABS light.

Well, better go and get to bed now...keep blogging!

Check your oil Mister?...

I went to the Diabetes research group today. They have me on 'Atacand' and blood pressure medication. My BP was 120/70 and that's pretty good ain't it? I also had an appointment with Dr Woo (endocrinologist) and he upped my insulin...you win some and you lose some.

Speed sensor......

On the way home this morning I dropped off the Taurus at the garage. My 'ABS' light and the 'service engine soon' lights are coming on. I guess I am stuck with the fix-up because the 'Trade me in for a better car' light did not come on. Oh well ...can't afford a new one so there ya go! The Tore-ass Tango!

A Camping we will go....

We called the Gimli campsite and they are opening for the season tomorrow and we will probably (if the tore-ass is fixed by tomorrow!) run the trailer out there this weekend sometime. We may not stay out there as it is still cool at night but it would be nice just to get out there for the day! ...toast some marshmallows, and ot those little teenie marshmallows either...the big suckers...and burn them, yes buuurrrnnn them to a crisp bwahahahahahaha.

Better go for now ...keep blogging!

Awards at WCAM...

Today, the Aviation Museum had a party for the volunteers. They handed out certificates of service for 2003. I got a certificate for about 200 hours volunteer service. It is nice to get some recognition. There was plenty of food and cake and good friends.

Long ago in a land far away..

Catherine has gone to a dinner meeting of her old friends that she once worked with at King George V school...so long ago, early in her teaching career. They get together every couple of months and catch up on the news.

Meet-up, eh?...

I am going out later to a meeting of the 'Atheists-Meet-up' group. they meet once a month on the third Tuesday. Meet-up is an internet service that pulls like minded people together to discuss certain things that they have in common...like atheism. Looking forward to it. Some of our Humanist group will be there.

Hot out eh?....

The weather today is perfect. 26 degrees and sunny...at least that is what it says on my thermometer. Now if it would just stay that way......last week we had 25 cms of snow...they could not really measure it because the government cut back on the weather service and cut the guy that did it! Haven't they got a stick for Pete's sake?

Anyway, better say bye for now...so keep blogging

I gassed up my lil Tyota yesterday. $25.00 @ 78.5 cents/lt (discounted by 6.5 cents/lt! from 85.9 cents/lt). Later in the day the gas went up to 91.9 cent/lt at the leading gas outlets (shell, esso,petro-can) but is staying at 82 cents/lt at the independant stations and that is reduces to 78.5 after the usual 3.5/lt discounts. In California, gas is about 82 cents/lt...it must be terrible for them! Of course gas prices in Europe have always been 2 to 3 times higher than it is in North America!

Anyhow, its a slow day Catherine is teaching at the "Island". She taught at the same class yesterday and would you believe it...she was doing some school stuff for a couple of hours last night! Making a game for a teacher at the "Island", a teacher that she had in her class as a student teacher.

Well, I am going to pop over to the new London Drugs that just opened over at the St. Viatl Mall. Later.....keep blogging, anybody?

Did I say 5 cms of snow??? Of course I meant 25cms...25 bloody cms! What crazy weather! The temps in May have been below normal on all days save for 3 (3 in a row) which were up to 25 degs c.
I went to the museum today. It was not bad driving as the streets are clear and only the idiots (like me!) were out driving. We did have a school tour though...33 kids, 33 little 'French Fries' from Ecole Precieux Sang ...that's 'Precious Blood School' for all you non-francophones out there. That's a nice catholic name for a public school isn't it?

Happy Manitoba Day!!!

134 years ago today...er yesterday the 12th, that is...Manitoba became a province. In case you did not know....the beaver is the provincial animal and chasing it is the pastime..bwahaha...Read and learn!

Beaver running rampant on a field of snow!

"The first part of the coat of arms of the province of Manitoba, Canada, officially the Arms of Her Majesty in Right of the Province of Manitoba, was the shield, which was assigned by royal warrant of King Edward VII on May 10, 1905. On the white chief is the Cross of Saint George, a symbol of England. The bison is a symbolic reminder of the various bison that formerly roamed the province. The remainder of the Coat of Arms was granted in 1992.
The helmet above the shield is gold and faces left, a symbol of Manitoba's co-sovereign status in Confederation. The mantling is in Canada's national colours. The crest is a beaver, Canada's national animal, holding a praire crocus, Manitoba's provincial flower. The crest is surmounted by a crown, representing royal sovereignty."

"The motto is 'Gloriosus et Liber' - 'Glorious and Free"

The whole thing should be resting on a field of snow...even the beaver is pissed!

Islandagingdigagurin.....

Our plan for opening our campsite in Gimli next week is in jeopardy unless the damn weather cooperates. Of course it was settled by Icelanders! Oh well, we shall just have to close ur eyes and wish the snow away...poof!...get the golf clubs!!

Mrs Magoo....

Catherine took Nana to the optometrist (opthamologist really) Wednesday afternoon. She was sure that she needed new glasses, but alas no, none were needed. Her eye-sight has not changed enough to warrant new specs. Catherine had a bugger of a time finding the place...on Graham but you have to do behind the building. I think Gary told me he took her there once and I certainly have. Catherine suggested to Nana that she get an optometrist near our place to make it easier for us to take her.

Just an Okie from Mispokie...

By the way...Who is this James Inhope (r) senator from Oklahoma who said on Wednesday that the American Press is over-playing the news of the abuse of Iraqi prisoners. He thinks Americans should forget about it and get on with the war! Trivial matter, indeed Mr Inhope. Where do these guys come from Planet Palookaville?...what a jackarse.

Oh well...when is the election in Canada???? Remember, vote NDP for a change!!!! And keep blogging!

Well......it is snowing today...blah! Bah humfriggin bug! yes we got about 5 cms of the wetstuff. It came out from Utah of all places. It is supposed to turn to rain later on in the day. If it becomes freezing rain we could be in for some power outages, etc. lets hope it doesn't come to that. Crap.
Of course We had to go for groceries today (both to Safeway...airmiles...and Super Store)and I had an appointment for an EKG and some X-rays as part of my annual check-up. We were not bothered by large crowds though and there was hardly anyone on the road.
Well we are back now and its time to just stay in the house and watch some TV.

The dog is limping around the house. It started last night. I don't know what it is but she looks pathetic limping around. I had a good look at her feet and I don't see anything and she appears to be getting better so we'll just wait and see. It doesn't seem to be affecting her sleeping at all. Nothing would affect that!

Well better go and check out the news. Keep blogging.

Hello there. Yesterday was Mother's day. Happy Mothers day to all you Mothers out there! It was a beautiful day in Winnipeg 25 deg c and sunny. We picked up Mother at about 3:00 PM and brought her back here for dinner. Ribs (not those big dinosaur beef ribs but pork ribs....mmmmm). We got Mother a Jeannie's cake...I like...I mean she likes vanilla...mmmmmm. Mother got several cards and flowers from Jack (bootiful). She also received a card from Margot with a 'butterfly pin' in it...nice...mmmmmm. Mother also got to see Gary and Carol and Noni and David and Lyn on the Yahoo messenger (with video). We connected right after the 3 hour survivor special....Amber won. hoo hoo. Mother watched it with us and she just called to ask when it is on again....she is hooked, haha.
We got back from our meeting with the MB Human Rights Commission around noonish. I think that the meeting went well. It is the initial step on a long road. It will be interesting to see how it developes. There are some court rulings that have to be taken into account but generally we are on the right track....now the ball is in their court and we just have to wait. It feels good. For too long the emphasis has been on freedom of religion and we want the emphasis to be on freedom from religion. Its funny how the system works, here is an example: A catholic school can demand a "Statment of Faith" from a prospective teacher but they are not allowed..by law.. to ask their height, weight, disabilities, smoker?....a statement of Faith for goodness sake..if that isn't discriminatory I don't know what is???!!! But the courts have ruled that since it is a 'job requirement' then a statement of faith can be asked for!. Phooey!...egads!...gadzooks man! Height used to be a 'job requirement' for the police force but since that would preclude any Chinese or other typically short peopled races then they ruled that a persons height cannot preclude that person from becoming a policepersonguygalorwhatever. Anyhow school is not the place for indoctrinating children in religion. Kids are very impressionable...thats why the Gideons still throw bibles at them in grade 5...get them while they are young! Did you now that in the last census 20 to 31 percent of Canadians declared that they had no religion (highest being in BC and lowest in Newfoundland)...thats up from about 5% in 1946. Did you also know that 75% of canadians stated that they had a relgion but only 20% were actually regular church goers. Thats roughly equal in comparison to non-believers (and it is not easy to say that you don't believe!) And the rest of the 75% are just assuming that they have to be something because for example their parents were catholic then they must be catholics. Gary, do you remember in the forces when everyone had to be either catholic or protestant? No non-believers in the forces! When you had to go to the hospital they always used to ask what religion you were and it was so hard to say that you had none because that meant explaining. I once said to a hospital admissions clerk that I was a Druid...she marked it down. Thank goodness they don't do it anymore but that is because someone stood up and said "Hey, you can't do that!"

Anyhow, life goes on. I really like the new Blogger site...neat! new templates too! It seems that everyne that I tell about 'Gmail' is impressed. The only thing is that on my MTS mail I have a spam blowerawayer....

Well better go...keep blogging!!!!

Brother Gary has a quote on his blog site that is quite funny..."Give a man a fish and feed him for a day; teach that man how to use the internet and he won't bother you for weeks!"
nyuk nyuk nyuk

What the hell is happening to the cost of gas? All the stations around Winnipeg are selling gas for 84.5 cents per litre, but all the stations are giving discounts of between 3.5 cents per litre. What is the deal with the discounts at the pump? I am not complaining but if you discount gas at 3.5 cents per litre at the pump why would you post it at 81 cents per litre instead of 84.5 cets per litre.........what the hell game is that?

The weather has been relatively miserable this May. I was talking to Al, whose an avid golfer and he says that he hasn't had the urge to golf yet because there has not been a good patch of hot weather. Funny, I golf as poorly in bad weather as I golf in good weather!
I haven't golfed much in the last couple of years because when I do I suffer with a sore back for days afterwards.

We had an invitation from Pat and Paul and son Eric to look after Suzie while we are away at the West-coast. They sure love the dog and I am sure that they will take good care of her...sniff, sniff....we will miss her while we are gone.....will she recognise us upon our return?!? I am sure she will be well cared for.

I am not sure what brother Jack is planning this summer. I am not really sure that brother Jack knows himself, but I sent him an e-mail and told him of our plans anyway and the rest is up to him. He is welcome to come here and I am sure that Gary and his west coast crew are hoping to see him and the boys too.

Been busy. I had an exec meeting with the MB Humanists last night and we have a general meeting on Saturday. We are planning for a meeting on Monday with the Human Rights people with regards to 'religion in schools' issues. I don't agree with religious tenets but the place to teach them is in church or at home ...not in the schools. And hey, you can teach morals and goodness without invoking religion.

My Tore-ass was not running well the other day and so I took it over to my mechanic. He looked at it and within a few moments had it running great again. I asked him what it was and he said "Crap in the carburetor".............I asked, "How often do you have to do that?"

Well, better go, I got some work to do before Cathy gets home from school (she is subbing today). Keep blogging...............Gary.

Hello there. Its Wednesday and the temperature is nice but it is a gusty wind thats a blowin'.

We saw the movie "Big Fish" the other day. Ewan McGregor, Albert Finney and the rest of the cast were great. It was a great movie...direction, art, photography, story, dress...all worked together to give it a surreal feel. That Tim Burton makes some wonderful movies. Anyhow, its out on DVD now and I highly recommend it. Lots of 'tall tales'...and if you tell them often enough, they may become true.

Well, better get going to the museum. I'll blog more tommorrow. Keep blogging!!

eBay item 4146756343 (Ends Apr-28-04 15:37:01 PDT) - SIZE 12 WEDDING DRESS/GOWN NO RESERVE

Here is an item that appeared on E-bay. I got it from Gary. Its a real hoot. Its a guy selling the wedding dress of his estraged wife. he claims he paid $1200,00 for it and it sold on E-bay for 3 times that! Excuse me while I go search for Catherine's old wedding dress....I'll wear it and sell it on E-bay too...I am not proud. All he wanted was tickets to a game and pizza, I think.

Dr. Ben Dover......

I went to my GP (Dr. Hildahl) this morning for my annual physical. My legs always turn to jello when I hear the snap of that rubber glove. I said "be gentle" and he said "BEND OVER". Ohh, Doctor shouldn't you buy a guy a drink first? Anyhow he didn't find anything worth lingering for which is a good thing. He found a little neuropathy in my feet, though. (no his fingers aren't that long!) Must be a result of my diabetes. So I am going to see a neuropathic Doctor to get checked out. Lets see, I am seeing a neurologist, a nephrologist, a urologist, an endocrinologist, and my GP. Is there any more ologists that I haven't seen.......besides a pathologist, but I can wait for that one.

Venus and Mars are alright tonite.....

Have a look up into the sky tonight just after dusk to see Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn all hovering around near the Moon. Oh yeah, if it is cloudy you may not see them. Venus is particularily bright too. Bootiful.

The play is the thing.......

Off to see a play this afternoon, "Crimes of the Heart". Then we are off to Bellissimo restaurant for some Italian food and then to Pat and Paul's for some R & R....that is some Trivialis Pursuitis (TP for you purists). Here is one for you, if the 'Ultimate" is the last item in a series, and "Penultimate" is the second last item, what is the third last item????? Answer in my next post.....bwahahahahahaha! Hey on Appollo 13 mission to the Moon, if Lance Armstrong was the first on the moon and Buzz and Boomer were next who was the guy that stayed behind in the mother ship? That's right Phil Collins!

Vancouver....way beyond normal......

We have decided not to go to Nova Scotia in August. We were trying to do too much this summer and we have the campsite at Gimli too and want to enjoy that as much as we can. So instead Catherine will hop on a plane at some future date....maybe even May, and go see her Dad. We will be coming to Vancouver at the beginning of July for sure though. And we will plan to get out to the Island too....if Noni is planning on getting married that would be a good time! heh heh.

Well better go, my butt is sore........from sitting! keep blogging y'all!
