They walked in...40 or so teenagers from the Leipzig area of Eastern Germany. In very broken english, they asked me to tour them around the museum. None of them spoke much english. I could not even get anyone with some english skills to translate what I was saying. The only German phrases I knew were "gutenmorgen tut jedermann sprechen engish in dieser Gruppe Jugendlichen. Woher sind Sie und was haben Sie in Winnipeg bis jetzt getan?", and "Haben sie Pommes-Frites in Deutschland, in dem Sie leben? Wie über Würstchen?", and "Deutschland über allen", which did not seem quite appropriate, since the war has been over for 60 years or so. Oh yes, don't mention the war! As luck would have it, the first airplane we encountered was the Messerschmitt, then the Tiger-schmitt, then the Junkers.....hey not bad, these planes are bi-lingual! I told them that Adolph Hitler used the Ju52 Junkers as his personal plane in the 30's......no reaction, Adolph who? I quickly made a save by blurting out Shania Twain!...they liked that. We made our way around the museum quickly after that.

I had an appointment with my GP, Craig Hildahl this morning at 8:15am and did not get into see him until 9:15am. I was like the 3rd patient of the morning and he was already an hour behind! sheeeesh. Anyhow, my health is well in hand, especially my sugar levels, according to my last tests. My creatinine levels are holding steady(>225) but are still a bit high(norm=<150) and that is a function (or not a function) of my kidneys. While there, I asked Hildahl if he could start seeing Momsy again as a patient. Momsy has been after me to do this since her Doctor left private practice a couple of months ago. Hildahl does not take any new patients but since he remebered Momsy, he agreed to take her back. GOOD, now to make an appointment for her, after looking at several dates into the future, the secretary came accross an appointment made for Momsy this afternoon at 2pm! Gosh, I wonder how that happened....couldst be Momsy has been making calls to the Doctor's office??? She denies it but then, it sure wasn't me! I tell ya, if Momsy can get three people to do the same thing she is doing only then she can be satified something will be done. sheeeesh#2. Anyhow after 'splainin it to Momsy over the phone she decides she don't wanna go to see Hildahl today anywho! Back into the office I goes and changes the appointment to Saturday @2:30pm.......WE'LL DRIVE HER. Nuf said....sheesh #3

Check out Jack's new blog!, and Gary, you might not have checked the Kirkwood's blog lately, but they have also updated their blog.

Well the weather is bootifull today nice and sunshiny with a temp of about 9 degs C ( about 50 deg F) and it looks like it will be about the same for the next 3 or four days. the snow is melting like mad! Just right for the JUNOS....be sure to check the Junos out on Sunday night!

Peace from the church of the laughing BUDDA and chicken emporium (our motto "on a wing and a prayer!") 20 pieces for $10 (cheap), beaks and talons extra. Luv ya! Rev Dennis

Well, here it is Easter Monday. I trust all of my flock had sufficient chocolate goodies to tide them over for another year. Me and the Missus? Well, we had chocolate covered potato chips that we procured from Widmans chocolate emporium in fabulous Grand Forks. Chocolate covered potatoe chips are goooood. MMMMM. Being a diabetic is not a problem, I just give myself an extra shot on the RARE occasion that I veer from my prescribed diet! Of course, luck be with me, wine too brings down the sugar in one's system, although not a substitue for insulin, I imbibe frequently of the wine and thereby keep my sugars under control in a more....natural way. Why last night we indulgeed in a little "Goats do Roam" (in Villages). A favoured wine in this household with a pleasing taste on the palate, not impertinent but with a great finish, not weak but a full bodied wine that has legs....long wonderful legs that wrap around your tongue...well you get the picture, its a good wine.
While Mother was here last evening, after our repast, we partook in a viewing on Shaw of the little flick called "Shall we Dance?" With Richard Gere, J-LO, and Susan Sarandon. This movie was filmed in the Old market Square area of Winnipeg a year ago summer last. We all loved the movie and the dancing was devine, ...er good, ya good. I found that Susan Sarandon to be MOST engaging and of course J-lo cuts quite a figure on the dance floor, I must say.
On Saturday we went to see the final MTC play of the season. It was called "The Dresser" with Len Cariou (as the dressee). It revolves around an old actor living his life in quiet desperation only now its not so quiet, and his dresser who has been dedicated but undervalued all of his :"Sirs career". They are getting ready to play King Lear and he can't go on...literally can't do it anymore, and of course he goes on only to die in the end. Very well performed, although the audience was niggardly in its appreciation when oly a few (including Catherine) stood up for the ovation. Strangely enough there was a rather large standing ovation after the previous play called "Trying", yet I found that play to be rather mediocre....well, what do I know, maybe that guy was a local.
Well, its going to be a slow week around here. Catherine is unable to work because of March break. I am at the museum on Wednesday and Saturday only ..so far. I gave a tour to some 15 screaming little sav...CHILDREN Saturday and ended with locki...PUTTING them into the Spaceways exhibit for a tour through the solar system, while I waited outside and because of the VERY LOUD SCREAMING I was wishing that the trip into space was MORE than virtual reality. Oh my. I mean it is so nice to be able to tour the little children through the museum because they are so attentive and appreciative...the little darlings.
Well, better go...blessigns from the Right Reverend Dennis and his church of the Holy Sepulcre and neon cross at the corner of Euclid and Austin in sunny North Winnipeg.....peace

where am I; Peter Pan; Junos; gas

I got up early to make a 9:45 am appointment with the endoXXX er, gynoxxx er, doctor and much to my chagrin found that the appointment happened last Tuesday....I missed it by two days. The worst of it all is that Catherine reminded me that I had an appointment on Tuesday and I, of course, told her that I was absolutely sure that the appointment was on Thursday. Well, I got the 'T' right! ...give me a break. I should have someone stamp these things on my forehead and then people can direct me to my appointments at all times...something like "Hi, my name is Dennis and I have an appointment on Tuesday March 22nd, please direct me to it!" This works especially well along with the phrase "Help, I've fallen and I can't get up."
I see that Gary is back in Victoria. I wonder if he won any money at the casino on the Port Angeles ferry? Well, back in his familiar surroundings he will be spending time catching up with all his cronies and kids.
I am just working on the Humanist newsletter today while Catherine has got a job for the afternoon subbing. She is not looking forward to it seeing as though its the last afternoon of the last day before the Easter break and the kids are bound to be all rangy.
My cold is getting better but Catherine was not feeling well yesterday so we didn't make it for our workout . Sooooo, we stayed home and watched 'Finding Neverland' (just released on DVD). It was good but Catherine got a bigger kick out of it than me. Its all about J.M. Barry and his play from 1903 called "Peter Pan".
We had some snow last night, about 2 cms. It is cool today but it should warm up by the weekend and the damn stuff should melt. I hope it is all gone by the Junos on April 3rd. It probably won't be though and that will open things up for more simple minded guffaws ...especially from the centre of the universe TO types. Yeah, I get touchy.......
I see that they have taken the cost of the cruise out of my Visa, I could hear the sizzling from here! Oh well, looking forward to it. BY the way, Gary, do you have any room for us from May 31st to June 5th??? I know we discussed it but I don't think that I ever thought to ask. Looking forward to that part too! Better go pack.
Rev Dennis from the Church of the holy redeemer, we redeem green stamps and super store points for gas vouchers. Come to our church and get GAS......yeehaw.........................peace

Portrait of the Artist as a Middle-aged Man
....check this out. Two blogs in a week. Jack oughta travel more often!
Not much happening here...went to Air museum, came back home, let out the dog, now its off to the gym for a workout. Its like deja-vu all over again!
I caught Catherine's cold a couple of days ago and I haven't slept well for the last couple of days and I have been keeping Catherine awake so I have been self-exiled to the lazy-boy....kleenex and all.
Looks like Gary is on his way home soon. He's taking the Port Angeles ferry, apparently because it has a casino on it!
Anyhow, peace be with you, et-cum spiritutuohoh. In the name of big Dada, his son and the wholey ghost, all men. We play dominoes annually. Rev. Dennis, amen

Tillimook Goose; cedar Otter; Quebec; pickle

Hey, Gary finally blogged. Just kidding, he blogs frequently. In Tillimook, huh. I assume that is on the coast since you have a great ocean view, duh. Is that where the Spruce Goose is? I actually was in LA for business once and I went to Long Beach to see the darn Spruce Goose and there it was gone! Saw the Queen Mary I though. I sure would like to see the spruce goose......we have a plane at the Air Museum that is made from wood. Its called the 'Wooden Beaver', a finer plane cannot be had! It was used to haul timber from Chetimagoosh, Quebec to Ottawa and the Eddy match Company to make matches. Quite a history....really. Speaking of Quebec.....I just read where Bombardier (a Quebec firm) was complaining that the government was showing favouritism in the new Canadian Air Force basic training contract up for renewal at Portage La Prairie. A BC firm (Kelowna Flightcraft) is also bidding on it and has a better offer. A big boohoo if Quebec losses the contract! In the words of Manitoba Aerospace workers everywhere....REMEMBER THE CF18 CONTRACT!!!!!!!! Montreal snatched it away from Bristol even though Bristol had a far better contract bid!...Damn, horse thief Mulrooney!
Well, better go have a nap now that I got my Blood pressure up. yeeeesh. I am tired, I caught the sinus, achy, cold thingy that Catherine had and I am tired. Besides,I was at the Museum this AM and had a tour of 15 or so kids and that is enough to tire you out. *Yawn*
Peace from the Right Reverend Dennis, the pill popping priest from the 'Plains church of the half eaten pickle" ( from the dinner plate of Jehova) be good y'all y'hear.

Enjoy,,,,,,

Enjoy your English while you can..... The European Commission has just announced an agreement whereby English will be the official language of the European Union rather than German, which was the other possibility.
As part of the negotiations, Her Majesty's Government conceded that English spelling had some room for improvement and has accepted a 5-year phase-in plan that would become known as "Euro-English".
In the first year, "s" will replace the soft "c". Sertainly, this will make the sivil servants jump with joy. The hard "c" will be dropped in favour of "k". This should klear up konfusion, and keyboards kan have one less letter.
There will be growing publik enthusiasm in the sekond year when the troublesome "ph" will be replaced with "f". This will make words like fotograf 20% shorter.
In the 3rd year, publik akseptanse of the new spelling kan be expekted to reach the stage where more komplikated changes are possible.Governments will enkourage the removal of double letters which have always ben a deterent to akurate speling. Also, al wil agre that the horibl mes of the silent "e" in the languag is disgrasful and it should go away.
By the 4th yer peopl wil be reseptiv to steps such as replasing "th" with "z" and "w" with "v". During ze fifz yer, ze unesesary "o" kan be dropd from vords kontaining "ou" and after ziz fifz yer, ve vil hav a reil sensibl riten styl. Zer vil be no mor trubl or difikultis and evrivun vil find it ezi tu understand ech oza. Ze drem of a united urop vil finali kum tru.If zis mad you smil, pleas pas on to oza pepl.

Lyn, surf & turf, US$. peace

Wow, Lyn posted. First Jack now Lyn.....what is this a blog frenzy? Nice to hear from Lyn too....I am guessing that the hockey tourney was one of Adam's. Anyhow, good show y'all! I would be careful though, first they win a tournament and then they hold out for more Tim-bits! Chin up Lyn, I have taken so many of those damn courses that I kind of miss them now...nostalga for economics, business law, accounting, marketing, surf and turf, gym, readin, ritin, rithmatic, birds and the bees, etc....lets break off into our groups and discuss it!..........
Sound like Gary is in Oregon at the Surf and Turf RV camp and steak resort. They finally caught up to the Kirkwoods...er, that should be the Kirkwoods finally caught up to them.
Catherine and I have spent the day packing for our grand tour of the South!...south of North Dakota that is. Well, we have a room pool-side at the Best Western hotel and hotdog stand, just south of I25 and the Menard's store! Looking forward to it! It should take us a couple of hours, and a tank of $.88/litre gas(!), to get there. We went and negotiated the purchase of $500.00 us this morning. The rate was $1.22 CND per $1.00 US. Not a bad rate...at least better than it has been 'til now! I feel sorry for the 'Mericans though, since their money is down the pooper....golly-gee.
Well, better go and pick up Momsy so she can come and watch the doggie while we go on our winter odyssey!
PEACE....Rev Denny of the Winnipeg Dennys....walk up and drive thru, instant absolutions and christenings, bring your own holy water. Open 'til 9pm weeknights.

Jack, jetsgone, Million Dollar Baby, GF gud, peace

Well, well....Jack blogged. Thats twice in a month! Most shocking. It appears he is taking several students to Balitmore to a ceramics conference. I hope they are not flying Jetsgo because Jetsgo is Jetsgone! Then again Jetsgo is a Canadian discount airline. I hope Westjet stays in business, because we are flying with them at the end of May.

We went to see "Million Dollar Baby" last Friday. Great movie. Highly recommended. All the academy awards were justified. Clint, Morgan, Hilary were all great....especially Hilary Swank. She gained 20 pound of muscle by working out for a few months before the movie began and gave a real credible performance of a boxer.....great. Twist at the end...bring kleenex!

We went out for a Humanist dinner meeting last night and the speaker was Mark Golden, a classics professor at the U of W. He gave a talk about the beginnings of humanism in Greece. He traced Greek society from the oral traditions, where stories were passed on from generation to generation and never questioned, to a literate society where the written word brought conjecture and differing opinions. Relate that to modern society where it is so easy for people to just believe unquestioningly what they are told about God and the bible and the more literate who question ideas, especially those that are said to be carved in stone, and believe in a more rational, scientific approach to what they are being told. He also discussed Greek Gods and mythology and Catherine is now wanting to drag out her old university texts on mythology and re-read them.

After dinner we went over to Al and Janine's place and played Trivial Pursuit ...the DVD edition. Its not very good, too many repeats. The old board game is much better. We didn't stay late, as Catherine is coming down with a cold. I hope it is better by Wednesday as that is when we are leaving for a couple of days down to the warmer climes of the sunny south!...Grand Forks! Mom has offered to stay overnight with the pooch ( I am not allowed to take the dog with me!) ...Speaking of Mom, she is here for the weekend.

Anyhow, that is all the news that is fit to print, keep on keeping on. And keep on blogging....the world loves a blogger!

Peace. And if you got time, there is a peace march against the war in Iraq on this Saturday. We meet infront of the legislature at 11:30 am. Be there or be square! Meet under the banner! Regards from Rev. Dennis from the Our lady of the immaculate, or real clean anyway, conception. May the wind always be up your skirts and long may your chimney smoke, Dudes. Peace out.

Tours, messerschmitt; exorcisms

I just got back from the Museum. Just watching the gift shop today. On Monday I had a tour...usual stuff. The theory of flight is to keep the pointy part going forward as fast as possible...Take-offs are optional but landings are mandatory. We have an old Hispano-Buchon Ha-112 ...a Spanish version of the German Messerschmitt BF109 that is on loan from the the Ottawa museum and it is going back, so we have a special display going on that. Its quite the fighter plane, many, many (over 30,000) were built, more than any other WWII vintage plane.

Well, better get going to the gym for a workout. So until we speak again, KEEP BLOGGING.
As usual, eternally yours,Yadda yadda yadda, Rev Denny of Denny's pray and save drive thru and confessional. Exorcisms 'half off-boxing day sale'...the manager left the exorcism machine on! who loves ya baby?!

Moms; Garizona; Kyoto; Mushu; shivering redux

It is Sunday. Mom has been at our place since Friday. She came to babysit the doggie on Friday whilst we went out for a workout, and then to dinner with a couple of friends. We went to the Inferno Bistro in St. Boniface and the food was scrumptious as usual. The chardonnay was good too!......a Chilean.

Gary is still in Arizona...30 miles from somewhere...looks like a four story shaded ant hill. Last he blogged, they were looking for friends in order to score another meal! It seems that they will be in Oregon near the end of next week to meet up with the Kirkwoods. I would love to see Oregon. They say it is beautiful. I would love to do the whole COW thing California-Oregon-Washington in one trip.

The weather here has been mild, above zero for a few days. Maybe it will be an early spring! Winter has not been that bad on the whole, more snow than usual but we never had a bone-chilling cold streak. Its been nice on the west coast but colder than normal in the east.

The JUNOS (Canada's Grammys) are in Winnipeg in April. the whole city is looking forward to it. Neil Young is coming back to his hometown for it and he will perform. Of course Chantal Kreviazuk, Randy Bachman, Burton Cummings, the Doc Walker Band, and others from Manitoba will be performing. And, gee it would be nice if Shania Twain could come...who knows. I have volunteered to volunteer at the Junos but I have not heard anything yet. I could chauffeur people around or work security. It would be fun.

I have just sat Mom down at Catherine's computer and pulled up Gary and Jacks blogs for her to read. She seems to be enjoying it...she is muttering along.

We had pizza and we watch the movie 'Mulan', last night. For an animated film, it was quite good. Eddie Murphy does the vioce of the side-kick dragon called Mushu, and as in Shrek, he is funny. I would recommend this movie. I know Margot and Joel would enjoy it.

Well we have our plane tickets and cruise tickets, now all we have to do is wait............wait.........wait

Better go, breakfast is being served. eggs, sausages, bacon, pancakes, juice.....mmmmmmm Keep on blogging y'all
Peace.... the most reverend Dennis from Our lady of perpetual motion (PREVIOUSLY SHIVERING) church of the holy sepulchre and the redeemers of the green type stamps from the A&P. Who loves Ya baby? And he still pronounces nuclear as NUCULAR. And he won't support a world court, or a land mine moratorium, or the Kyoto accord, and they have shut the border AGAIN to Canadian cattle, and still thinks he is right on the softwood lumber question , even though they have lost it 3 times in the appeal courts. And now is mad at Canada for not supporting HIM on the BMD! First Iraq and now this! Well I never....... Posted by Hello

Well, Jennifer Jones (Manitoba) won the Scott tournament of Hearts.
She was down two in the last end, but had the hammer and won by two points on an angle takeout on her own rock, just near the boards outside the house. Best shot that I have seen, to win the game, in a long time. And were they ever happy about it! woo double hoo.

Made the last payment on the Alaska cruise by calling Fern Macadoodle (?) at BCAA. We could not book the White pass tour beforehand. It must be booked on the cruise ship according to Mcadoodle. All set....where's my bags?

The Lions Manor was at the Air museum today. I suggested to Mom that she tell them at the Manor to take a tour of the Museum. She did, but when they asked if she were coming she said NO.......she can go anytime because my son volunteers there. Anyhow, 16 of them were there and they asked questions like, "If you fly through a thunderstorm, is it hard on the plane?" Several of them were alzheimer patients and they would have comments on everything.....oh well, it kept the mood light and happy. Just didn't matter much what I said. When I explained to them, in regards to the Vickers Vedette, that one of the 'original' draughtsmen that worked for Vickers did 98% of the blueprints for it from memory and told them that he was 80 years old, one of them asked what his first name was. DOUG, I said. One of the volunteers told me later that the story about Doug was wonderful and how did I know all that stuff....I said well at least some of it was true but I don't know who the hell Doug is!

The Academy Awards was on Sunday. Personally, I did not find Chris Rock funny. To much over the top! nyuknyuk Anyways, now I have to see "MIllion Dollar Baby". I voted for 'The Aviator", because it was Scorsese and I figured he'd get it, but he was up for and didn't get the oscar for director even. Ole Clint got it. And Morgan Freeman got it for supporting actor and Hillary Swank got it for actress. Good, I like Hillary Swank. Other than that movie there were no surprises. I think that Cate Blancette deserved the oscar for her portrayal of Katherine Hepburn in "The Aviator". And....lordy, lordy, they have re-released the "Passion of the Christ", calling it the 'uncut' version. mmmmmmm can't wait to see that one......sure

Finished another newsletter for the Humanist group. Its not to much fun doing it but it sure is enjoyable when it is done....at least for another month.

Survivor is on tonight! yippee!...the start of another series.. Looks like Charlene has updated her blog WRT the coffeeshop...check it out.
later.....peace

The President of the USA today stated that he was miffed at Canada for not supporting BMD (ballistic missle defense). When asked who we should be protecting ourselves from Bush said, "well, Korea and the Ruskies....still can't trust those Ruskies, they aren't democratic you know." More later. Posted by Hello
