When my father died and my two brothers and I sat down to talk about him, we discovered that we were talking about three different men - and I had never met the other two.

Crazy gas prices. Now there is a gas war on. Some gas bars are offering discounts of up to 10 cents/liter. I don't know why but the price on the sign out front seems never to be the price at the pump. Shell started that and its driving me nuts. Why not just advertise the price on the pumps? Sheesh.
With regards to Mom travelling, Gary wrote:
* It was actually Mom's idea that she come out to Victoria, if Jack and family visit. On one hand she says she is too old to travel, then she talks about coming out. Yes she is 86 and has problems, but I think she can still travel. Many older than her, with more problems do it all the time. However, it is her decision.*
I don't know of any people older than her that still travel. Who are these people? I'd like to armwrestle them! One thing for sure...don't suggest that she travel with me if you are not willing to travel with her yourself. You got a spare room in your new RV??? HEE HEE
Speaking of new RV. What kind did you get Gary? Does it have pull-outs? Is it a pusher or a puller? It must have cost a lot of dough! It seems paradoxical...for someone like Gary who always preferred the small economical cars (inspired me to get a Volkswagon!) and now to be buying huge houses on wheels? I stand in awe.
Well, better be going. I am taking Janine and her son & grandson to the Air Museum. Its spring Break! Tons o'kids everywhere. And the Museum is very busy! Once the Wright Bros. show leaves it will be back to normal, well almost normal...there will still be school tours. There are more school tours towards the end of the school year than at any other time. Looking for ward to doing more tour guiding. TATA

Our most basic instinct is not for survival but for family. Most of us would give our own life for the survival of a family member, yet we lead our daily life too often as if we take our family for granted.

What is up with the price of gasoline? Here it is at .717 cents/lt. In California it is around $2.25 US/gal. Here, it went up about .14cents a litre in one day! (from .63 to .78/lt.)....and now its gone down a bit.
Yesterday it rained like mad here, thunder and lightning.....in March! The streets were flooded because the water had nowhere to go. It was hard to drive home from the play because of the high water. Of course people in Suv's and big 4 x 4 's were having a ball justifying their large purchases by driving through the large puddle at break neck speeds, drowning out everyone else. Pat and Paul's house (basement) got flooded; they have there window wells that are quite efficient at capturing runoff and if the ground is frozen the water has nowwhere to go except in the window. Luckily the water just travelled down the wall and directly into the sewer, but the wall panelling will have to be replaced and the insulation too. Us? We just ended up with lake Winnipeg in our front yard. I had to take the water pump to it today to drain it off. The ground is still frozen you see. It is quickly filling up again!
The play "The Winslow Boy" was quite good but lengthy and very wordy. It could have done with some editing. It went for 2 1/2 hours. The guy on the other side of Catherine fell asleep and started snoring loudly, that is until his wife poked him and he woke up with a snort. I, however, am given to taking the odd cat-nap at any given play, dutifully stayed awake all the way through, encouraged by the fact that we were going for a nice steak dinner right after the play. I believe that there is one more play in May.
Looks like it will be mild all week; not as mild as they said it would be but mild none the less. The snow is continuing to melt away.
Today, Catherine and I did the 'Premier Crossword" puzzle from the Saturday paper. It was a large one but we completed it in 22 minutes. We were limited only by the time it took to write the clues it. Too easy, but since we do not subscribe to the NYT puzzle anymore and the one in the paper is one that we have already done, we had no choice.
I have a book of 200 NYT puzzles that I am currently working on (this is my 3rd 200 puz book) but that is my own book. just for me bwahahahaha. I have also done 3 or 4 of those 50 puz books. So you might say that I enjoy doing them. I do a NYT puzzle every night when I got to bed, before I go to sleep and generally will complete a puzzle in 2 nights. I don't always completely finish them. I do get stuck once in a while.
I heard from Jack and it appears that he and the boys and Lucinda ( I think) are going to Victoria for the first week of August. His plan is to meet with Mom there. I hope he realizes that his Mom is now 86 this year and really should not be travelling. It is an easy thing to forget when you are not actually seeing her that often. I know that she has a pace-maker but realize that she has it because her heart is weak. She is also having nosebleeds and has had one recently which resulted in her having to go to emergency. Of course she can be talked into anything.
Well, its a lazy Sunday and I am on the 'puter and Catherine is reading a book....and Suzie is sleeping. Life is good.

The Winnipeg Free Press - News
You'll be glad to know that a Canadian Bishop will now allow women and children to wash their feet on the Thursday before Good Friday. I can sleep at night now!
Well, its Saturday. Its raining like mad and there is a possibility of thunderstorms later in the day. Thunderstorms in March??!! It simply has to be the 'Green sleeves' effect. One farmer talking to another....wipes his nose on his sleeve...shhhhpppuuttt...yah! Shor nuf gettin funny weather these days! Yeah, lets go into our Green house? Well, anyhwho, at least its not snow. High of plus 8 deg c and by Tuesday its going to 17!!! shhhhpppuuutttt....shur nuf is whackky weather.
That Clarke guy in the USA sure opened up a can of worms with his revelations on the Bush administration and their lack of concern for terrorism pre -9/11. Now Bush has got all his dogs out including his pet pit-bull Condelleza Rice attacking Clarke's character. Can't stand being criticized with any allegations, especially those rife with truths! How dare Clarke! That truth ruse will not stand! Vote for Bush...he stands behind his troops....waaaaay behind!
Al Bertrand has gone to Paris for a couple of weeks with a group from his school where he is the principal, so having passed up trips such as this before, he has decided to go with them. And why not, he is planning on retiring soon anyways. So upshot is that even though Al will not be there, we are going to a play today at MTS. Its called "The Winslow Boy". It got good reviews and then we are going out for dinner and then for some tea and tiffin at our house....oh and maybe, just maybe some Trivialis Pursuitis....Trivial Pursuit in Latin! We always play in latin, we have such sophistikated tastes. T & T and latin TP and no TV. I wonder if, after having an episode with his heart, Paul has taken up smoking again? It is very hard to quit.... boys and girls, if you haven't started smoking ...don't, because it is hard to quit...or only smoke after sex ....er don't have sex because you don't want to smoke...just don't do anything. Darn Kids give em an inch....
Oh yes, we no longer subscribe to the NYT x-word puzzle. They have jacked up the price too high! They want $35.00/year or $6.00/month US FUNDS yet. Phooey...here NYT, fill in the blanks sc**w Y*u bas***ds ! The key is to replace every '*' with a letter. Heh Heh
Anyhows, got to go get ready for the play. Sayonara....caio...hasta la vista baby...adios amigos...tata...hokey pokey...be sure to blog!

Well here it is Thursday. Sunny and 14 deg c going by our thermometer in the kitchen window. So hot that when I went out this morning I regretted having worn my 'long johns'. I could always tell when the very warmest days of the summer were...it was the few days that my Dad took off his 'long johns'. Its a good thing too 'cause my Mom 'ould say, "Yahoo, now I can wash 'em!" She would then hang them out to dry on the line and this would be a signal to all the neighbours that (1) it was really summer, and (2) my Dad was going "Combat Style". The snow is melting faster 'n you can say "Bob's your Uncle"...on second thought I wouldn't wish that on anyone....if you know Bob you know what I mean.
Urine the program!...
That could be the name of a Broadway play!....Hey I think it is! I went to my regular appointment at Diabetes research (filleted with the University of Manitoba!). It was my last day for the 'Losartin' study (blood pressure). I got into another study though, no test, you just have to have a kidney or two and they don't even have to be workin good! They call it the 'Kidney study" or more simply the" double-blind, randomised, dose raging, multi-centre, phase IIIB study to evaluate the efficacy and safety of high doses of candesartan cilexetil (atacand) on the reduction of proteinuria in the treatment of subjects with hypertension and moderate to severe proteinuria." I look forward to it bwahahahahahaha. Free meds and all the coffee I want!! Tim Hortons coffee too! And all I got to do is pee in a bottle! There may be side effects such as growth of a third eye at the back of the head but hey that could come in useful say for driving ....backwards?
Jack Lives!!!...
Yes, I got an e-mail from my little brother! Little? He is fine and the boys are fine and ....get this....he has a girlfriend called Lucinda. Happy Happy Joy Joy! Good, Jack needs someone to keep him on an even keel...to level out his roller-coaster emotions. I am glad for him. He deserves a break and she is also good-looking! And she likes the two boys, too. Good on ya Jack! Throw another shrimp on the barbie! Now maybe he will settle down and blog more!
All Pooped out....
Started eating a lot of bran! Kidding.... I have been running 10 to 20 miles per day getting in shape for the Greater Lesser Slave Lake tea and Tiffin Marathon but this trip to Victoria will put a cramp in my style...I may have to take a break from running while I am there. Yeahhhh running and twenty situps while hitting the snooze button in the morning.....if I wasn't in such great shape well, I would be in ...less great shape? er...pooped. Yes, I will just have to take it easy in Victoria....no running, no jumping, no skipping, no sky diving, no spelunking, no climbing, no fast-food....well ok fast-food but thats all! Thanks be to a a Higher being for this break!!!
Well keep on blogging!!!!!

Cold enough to freeze the balls off a brass monkey!...
An interesting bit of information!...must be true!...
Did you know??? It was necessary to keep a good supply of cannon balls near the cannon on ships. But how to prevent them from rolling about the deck was the problem. The best storage method devised was to stack them as a square based pyramid, with one ball on top, resting on four, resting on nine, which rested on sixteen. Thus, a supply of 30 cannon balls could be stacked in a small area right next to the cannon. There was only one problem -- how to prevent the bottom layer from sliding/rolling from under the others. The solution was a metal plate with 16 round indentations, called a Monkey. But if this plate was made of iron, the iron balls would quickly rust to it. The solution to the rusting problem was to make Brass Monkeys. Few landlubbers realize that brass contracts much more and much faster than iron when chilled. Consequently, when the temperature dropped too far, the brass indentations would shrink so much that the iron cannonballs would come right off the monkey. Thus, it was quite literally, "COLD ENOUGH TO FREEZE THE BALLS OFF A BRASS MONKEY!" And all this time, you thought that was a vulgar expression, didn't you?

Hello, today is Tuesday. Around zero today but sunny and mild for the rest of the week. Should be 8/9 deg c Wed, Thurs, and Friday. Egads! Gadzooks! Shazbot! Break out the golf clubs Mamma, cause Daddy's gonna play around!
Tea and Tiffin on April 17th...
Lyn and her beau, Al Barber will be tying the knot on the afternoon of April 17th, 2004. Of course her favourite uncle will be there......ME.....I just made reservations with the good people at West-Jet for a one-way ticket to Palookaville...er round trip Victoria! I can't wait to see the little shining faces of my nieces and nephews! I shall have to start practicing phrases such as, "My how you have grown!" and "I haven't seen you since you were this high (pointing to my knee)"! "Does that suit come in your size?"nonono wrong party..." Is that your nose or are you eating a banana?"nononono wrong party. Well, I said that I would have to practice!!!
They mapped the human genome faster 'n this!.....
I spent most of the day yesterday sitting with Mother in the Emergency at the Winnipeg General Hospital! Waiting because she had to have the packing removed from her nose! 5 1/2 hours and three feet of gauze later.....and we were done. It only took 10 minutes to take the gauze out. Man if you ran a business like that!!!!!! Crap, and on Friday when she had to go in to emergency because she had a nosebleed it was another 5 1/2 hours! 11 hours of waiting to pack and unpack her nose (20 minutes work). Anyhow, we would have gone elsewhere to get her unpacked but they insisted that we go back there. I did think ( and so did Mother) that her nose would start bleeding the moment the gauze was removed.....but it did not. The thing about having old Parents is this...you never know when they will need to go to the hospital...its always in the back of your mind, no matter what plans you are making! Of course life is what happens to you while you are busy making plans!
Well, supper is on, better go ...keep on blogging!

Hit it go ahead hit it....
How about that, 418 hits on my blog and its only been 5 weeks since I got the counter. On Saturday I got 40 hits alone. This blog has gone mad....MAD I tell you!!
Inspirations of Comfort, Edification and Exhortation
Even more interesting....Margot updated her blog! And No Honey 10 weeks between blogs is not a long time. Don't you feel better now? Just think of it as a journal.....your life in blog format, "Inspirations of Comfort, Edification and Exhortation" or in political terms "trickle -down emotions" Communication at its most basic. And it only takes ten minutes or so unless you have to look up the big words.
America liberates Iraq....not
Check out the "Bhagdad Burning" blog for a rundown of how the liberation of Iraq is going. In her mind there is little difference between terrorism and 'being liberated'. 75% unemployment rate, intermitent electricity, US soldiers scooping up people from the streets, pillaging, raape and terror. I can't be dissapointed in Canadians though, a recent poll indicates that a large majority still think that it was wrong for the US to invade Iraq. You know the worst part?....a lot of the American soldiers died thinking that they were avenging the horrible incident on 9/11. A majority of Americans still believe to this day that (1) the US will find WMD's and, (2) Iraq had ties to Al-Queda and was implicated in 9/11.
Mom/Nana is doing fine...
Mom is doing fine. She had her supper delivered from the cafeteria Sunday. I will be taking her to the doctor Monday morning to get the several miles of qauze removed from her nose. I hope it doesn't start it bleeding again. They did check her meds and they said that everything should be OK....IE no need to change dosages, etc.
Well, better go. This week I want to check and see if I have enough air-miles to get me to Lyn's wedding in April. She was planning only to have a small affair...that is until her Mother got back to Victoria... Well, keep on blogging.

Well, better go. This week I want to check and see if I have enough air-miles to get me to Lyn's wedding in April. She was planning only to have a small affair...that is until her Mother got back to Victoria... Well, keep on blogging.

Home, Home on the range......
Well, well, well. Gary and Carol are back in Victoria....O Canada, glorious and free, we stand on guard we stand on guard for thee. Tea and Tiffen at the Empress hotel. Taw Taw Taw! Imagine that, what a trip, and they are still together! And no health problems apart from the minor colds, etc. The kids will be glad that Gary and Carol are back as their poor disorganized lives must have degenerated into complete disarray without them! A lot of catching up to do! Well, if G & C can't make the adjustment back to residential life quickly they can always jump into the RV and go park at the local Wal-Mart for an 'over-nighter'.
Make love not War! ....
Or words to that effect. We just got back from the peace march and rally that took place in Winnipeg, this cool (-10 deg c.) Saturday. Our cheeks were red......so was our face cheeks! But, it felt good to be standing for something among various protestors (some of whom I disagree with.....F**k Bush, seems a bit harsh and Canada should be in Haiti! and what is with these dudes that have to cover their face?), including several people from the Humanist Association of Manitoba. Peace Brother!
Mother dear....
Mom had to be taken to the hopital Friday night because she had a nose-bleed that would not stop. They packed it for her and held the packing in with a bandage shapped like an 'X', and now she looks like Miss Piggy. We went over to see her today and brought her some McFood for lunch. She seems fine but says that when she lays down, her nose starts to bleed all over again. I just called her again and she says she is fine. I will call her tomorrow.
I can only do one thing at a time!....
Seems like 'Action' Jackson has taken himself a maid. Yes, yes, Jack has a girlfriend. Seems that is why he doesn't have time to do much else ....like take 5 minutes to read the damn blogs!....what walk and chew gum at the same time???? Well, given a year or two we may hear all about her! Jack, if you read this, send me an e-mail saying 'YUP"
Well, better go, I got a bit of a cold and I need some rest.......later gators....keep on blogging.

Well, hello from a very sunny Winnipeg where the snow is melting faster than you can say Smilla's sense of snow. Say, if it takes 50 joules per shovelful of snow and you can earn 4.2 joules per calorie taken in and you take in say 3,000 calories a day......how much snow could you shovel with this much energy???? Or how much wood could a woodchuck chuck if a wood chuck could chuck wood.... at 50 joules per chuck?......and assuming that there are 4.2 joules for each chuck shucked. I have just compled the final class of the web design course I was taking and my headd is full of information and it is over-flowing...at least the physics part...oh yeah and the rhyming bit too.
I spent some time at the aviation museum today. I am now a tour guy..er guide. Luckily my first group was from "Faith Academy". Little evangelicals with an atheist guide. there were 22 kids and none of them listened to a thing that was said. I spoke to one of the parent chaperones and she asked me what is the difference between a jet and an airplane? She also couldn't fathom women pilots..."I would not feel safe with a woman pilot flying the plane, she'd probably have other things on her mind". I guess so, I would imagine that anyone who could become a pilot would have thinking powers. Oh well, don't confuse me with the facts...I've got my mind made up. At least the little buggers were well behaved.
Better go and get some sleep, got to get to the aviation Museum by 10:00am to so some securitanizationinglikething.
Later, keep on blogging............

Here it is Monday. A nice sunny day in Centreville. (Winnipeg is the centre of Canada). Still expect a little snow tonight. Funny, the kids here haven't had a snow day for years. In Halifax the kids have had 14 sonw days....14! I guess they had a few snow days in Oklahoma this year, Jack had said when he was here in October that last year they had 5 snow days. Here, for a couple of days this winter it was so cold that the school buses would not start.....but the schools never closed, they just expected you to drive them!
Anywho, I got an e-mail from Lyn. Seems that nowadays they change the last name beforethey get married....some kinda Information Services cock up....as usual. heehee Well not much happening here today, just worked on my dreamweaver, etc., then we went to the Reh-fit for a workout. Paul had a bit of a "heart problem" a week ago last Thursday. He says it is nothing serious and that may be but he should give up smoking!!!! I tried to convince him that he should get some exercise too. He plays a lot of golf but is pretty inactive in the winter.
Better go....din-din is ready....keep blogging!

This is a great website.....woohoo. Margot, checkout the pictures. Good music too.
Snow Joke....
Well the weather here this Saturday is still quite nice. Around +2 degs C. The meeotological God's expect a bit of snow later but they said that it would snow last night and it didn't. Why do they always sensationalize everything...OOOHHHH it's going to snow lots and the driving wll be treacherous!...when nothing happens, people feel like fools for cancelling their plans and it is like crying wolf....GET ANOTHER COMPUTER MODEL...THIS ONE IS BROKE!
West Coast in late June, (bring your long johns)....
We plan on driving out to Vancouver at the end of June, beginnig of July. We have to be there for July 3rd for Lois and Brett's 25th. We will have to make reservations at the hotel soon.....unless there is room in someone's stable? How come we have a guest room and no one else does???...except maybe Gary. We would like to stay for a week or so but we'll see how it goes. Be nice to get out to the Island.
Beatles in all formats (except 8 track)...
I took a seminar on Friday about transferring music from LP's to CD's. The course was in the afternoon and I was at the WCAM in the morning. There was a young man there who was about 20 and I told him about the course and he said..."So what are LP's??" Snotty little bugger. Boody hell! Anyhow, it is relatively easy to do. All you need is software to do it and a cable to connect and a turntable (with and amp) of course (line out of the amp (RCA) and line in to sound card (1/8th stereo) on the PC, usually blue coded) You have to record in '.wav' files or '.MP3' files (.MPs files are about 1/5th the size of .wav files). For software check out "LP recorder" @ WWW.cfbsoftware.com.au and for editing sheck out "goldwave" at www.goldwave.com. Upload song from record on 'LP recorder' then take it to 'Goldwave' and edit it for pos, crakles and trimming.
.Wav files are much better quality though, and once you put them on a CD you can delete them. They are big files and just take up space, so ya got em on a cd so dump em! Copy them to a CD and Viola! ici ton CD! Oh yes and the better the sound card the better the recording but the normal sound card that you have in your computer will work pretty well......And, Yeah if you got speakers you got a sound card. I could send you printed directions if mine are not precise enough. Goldwave is pretty spiffy....you can edit any music file with it.
Well, better go...oh yeah did you hear that Janet Jackson is whipping out another single soon! Keep on blogging!

Hello there....We had a bit of a snowstorm, more blow than snow, last night so I guess that winter is not over yet. Its supposed to get warmer by tomorrow, though. It will have to be warm for a few days straight to get rid of the snow thats on the ground.
Catherine went to a funeral for a friend of hers on Tuesday. She was the same age as Catherine and she died of stomach cancer, not a pleasant way to go. She only found out about the cancer 6 months ago. It was about that time that her sister had an accident and when they took x-rays to check of a concussion, they found out that the sister had a brain tumor. The sister died within 3 weeks. Pretty sad.
My dreamweaver class is tonight. Only one more after this one. That is a good thing too because my head is fo full that I am sure that it springs a leak at night because when I get up in the morning I know less than I did the night before. Its a never ending battle...trying to keep my head full of knowledge that is.
Working at the museum is tedious. Last week I was there for 3 days. I wish that they would appreciate volunteers more. For one thing they could advocate with the government to get volunteers 'write-offs' against their taxes. It would be a big help if we could write-off expences like gas, wear and tear on the car, etc. The biggest asset that the museum has is its volunteers. Anywho, the Wright Bros exhibit is going well, a lot of people have come to see it. They have asked me to start giving tours, since I kind of do that anyway. That would be good for a change.
Well better do some studying before a gots to goes to da class like.
Later.....Keep on blogging.

Hello, it's Tuesday. Its sunny today and the temp is around 5 deg C....and it is only noon.....yeh, it'll be a hot one...10 maybe. Better git out the sunscreen. All kinds of slush on the road. I just washed the car yesterday because it was filthy and it got real dirty on the way home. Springtime.....ahh
Travels with Gary...
Gary and his RV are about ready to make the trip back to Canada. He is in Las Vegas now and has probably gambled away all his cash, so it is a good time to leave. I forget whether he has to be back in Victoria by mid-March or the end of March. He will have a lot of memories of his six month trip around Canada and the US. He spent a lot of time in Arizona and I got a hunch that he will be going back there next winter.
In Sickness and in Health...
Poor Catherine has been sicky-poo. She has a bad cold and is really stuffed up. Luckily I have not gotten it from her...yet. She even suggested that we miss going for our workout yesterday!.......she must be sick. She just shuffles around the house all day, blowing her stuffed-up nose....schhnnnnuuuurrrrrrip...uuuuhhh. The dog feels bad too, she just follows Catherine around looking solemn.
Oh the Humanity...ness.....
Our monthly Humanist meeting is on Saturday. A sit down meal. I kind of regret taking the lead in finding a new place for our dinner meeting. Now I have the privilege of coordinating the thing. We have vegetarians who like green vegetables too and vegans who like maybe pulse or tofu. Who likes broccoli put up your hand?! There will be twenty...no 19 ...no 16 ...no i just don't know, if one says they are coming, does that mean the spouse is coming? What??!! $20.00 for a vegetable plate??!!...its not about the money but $20.00?? Can I come after the dinner and enjoy the free room without contributing to the cost of it? ...its not about the money....
Oh well, it should be an interesting meeting. We have Victor Schwartzman from the Human Rights commission coming as a resource person. And guess what, the topic will be Human Rights. Should be good.
Anywho, better go. I have to pick up the income taxes (they are done) and deliver Nana's groceries to her.......Keep on blogging

Here is an irony for you...
A piece in the Press today told of a man who, years ago took french immersion in Winnipeg. Learning french was part of his plan to move to Montreal. He had a child after he moved to Quebec. That child had to be placed in in French school instead of English school because the father had taken french immersion in school so many years ago in Winnipeg. The irony is that in Manitoba, a child who has taken french immersion in school cannot transfer into the french program, unless one of the parents is fluent in french...not french immersion because that doesn't really count here, but Francais. Francais as it was explained to me is as much a culture as it is a language. Seems that the French want it both ways depending what province you are in. And this is suppose to promote the French language?
Gas Pricing...
Better get a move on Gary. The price of gas is soaring. Its going to cost you a small fortune to get your RV back to Canada. Gas on the west coast of USA is around $2.00/gal but still chaeaper than Vancouver at around $2.32 us/gal. I don't understand why there is a shortage of crude oil but apparently that is what is causing the price to go up. Gas here is now about the same price as it is on the USA west coast.....around $2.00 US/gal.
Well, better go, I've got to go over to the WCAM from 1 - 4 this afternoon. Keep on blogging!!!!

Rad Renos at the Reh-fit....
We went to a gala meeting ..press conference, Thursday at the Reh-fit Centre. It was beauuutiful, they had a band, food, wine, desert thingis..... and an announcement. The Re-fit centre has found an ANGEL...a rich angel. He announced that he will match dollar for dollar any contributions, including Fed, Prov, civic monies, up to and including 3..three...3...three million dollars! Apparently the government money is in place. And the icing on the cake is that the money is above board and we didn't have to threaten to leave Canada to get it! We shall have our new Centre! All reno's to the tune of 6 millions. Woo-hoo. Larger track, new aerobics centre, new locker rooms, saunas, restaurant, lounge, balconies, parking, 2 entrances and elevators of course. Apparently, and this is the first time that I heard this story, this angel...PAUL was running around the track about 10 years ago when he collapsed, his heart went into fibrillation and he had no pulse....the trained staff (Doctors and nurses) ran to his aid and he survived. And after being a member for that many years, he is repaying the Centre. Hell, I think that the government should pay for the whole thing....but they don't think in 'preventative' ways, only 'reactive' ways...they wait until you are sick to spend money on your health!
Give your head a shake.....
There was an article in the Winnipeg Free Press on Sat. March 6th, 2004 about The St. Maurice Catholic School and their debate team. It seems that the debate team was to be involve in a debate on gay-marriage. The school decided that the team was not going to be allowed to speak on the 'pro' side, that is in favour of gay-marriage but they were going to be allowed to speak on the 'anti' side...against gay marriage. It's like "Don't confuse me with the facts...I have my mind made up!" Ironically, another article in the WFP on the same day told of a symposium at Churchill High School about Respect and tolerance of others. It even included a speaker that addressed the problem of homophobia in today's society.
William Wordsworth:
Written in Early Spring
I heard a thousand blended notes
While in a grove I sate reclined,
In that sweet mood when pleasant thoughts
Bring sad thoughts to the mind.
To her fair works did Nature link
The human soul that through me ran;
And much it grieved my heart to think
What Man has made of Man.

It's like "Don't confuse me with the facts...I have my mind made up!" I don't know how the third world war will be fought, but I do know that the fourth one will be fought with sticks and stones...

Couldn't sleep...
It's 6:48 in the AM and I could not sleep. I had a web publishing class last night and my head is still swimming with images and I am trying to set up tables for those images. Remember Save, save, save. Two more classes to go and my head is full now! Next week we use 'Fireworks'. Its funny but the best way to lay out a web page is by using a pencil and some paper!...isn't that a step backwards?
YAWN....YAWN...better go and try to nap since I have to be at the WCAM at the ungodly (did I say that?) hour of 10:00 AM. Who the hell is mobile at 10 in the morning...I'm on my second cup of coffee and only halfway through the paper by then....YAWN.
later....Keep Yawning...er blogging

Well, today is a bit cooler than it has been of late. About -10 deg on the Wendy's Frosty scale.
We went to see Kevin Taylor the tax accountant this morning. Our incomes are a mish-mosh of RIFs, RRSPs, incomes and pensions and deductions...so we grabbed our shoe-box full of tax slips and receipts and plunked them on his desk, with the hopes that we will get some back.
Then we went over to CAA and picked up some maps and stuff for the trip out to Nova Scotia this August. And while we were there we inquired about air fares to Vancouver. Lois and Brett Munroe are having a 25th wedding anniversary on July 3rd and have invited us to come. The air fares are up at that time of year so...its a case of do we get tickets now and be assured of a seat, do we chance it and get tickets later because if we get tickets now and there is a seat sale then you don't get refunded the
difference. Or...then again we may just come out by car, which is probably what we will do. At any rate we will be coming to Vancouver! We have to be there on July 3rd....so far that is the date we shall plan around.
Dreamweaver...
Class tonight. Looking forward to it. I have been fooling around with the software since I got it last Friday. Fireworks is in the suite too, and that is fun.
Jack APB....
Has anyone heard from Jack? Has he dropped out of the human race?? Is he still alive?? I have e-mailed him several times and received no reply. Could he be too busy to update his Blog spot? Jack...this is your brother talking...if someone is holding you for ransom then let us know....we can all chip in and come up with $20 -$30 Canadian..thats about $10.00 US....do you think it will be more????....if you are in jail...we can help...my cousin's freind knows a guy...he's not a lawyer but he knows a friend that has a lawyer as a friend and he can get you out.....talk to us...it can't be that bad....if you are working too hard...take a breather and write a note to your brothers...a short one will do...HI< FINE< EAT< SLEEP...you know, like one of your phone calls....Too busy, got to go now, Dennis.
Las Vegas Gary...craps king!...
Claims that he is the only one to keep on winning or was that whinning? He is currently in Las Vegas...staying in the parking lot at the Circus-Circus (close to the nickel slots!). I understand that he is going to see the Segfried and Roy show or is that now Roy and Roy. Anyhow I suggested that he get good seats ...right at the front and wear a big, big hat and wave at the lions...they are sooo friendly...sometimes zee vant to cuddles youz reall clooze...unt zey sometimes like to nibble your ears...doze playful things. On second thought go see a topless review, like you did the last time, only this time wear a shirt (topless means them and not you!).
Well, better go, I have tickets for the latest breaking news on the remodelling and expansion of the Reh-fit Centre's building......and yes, refreshments WILL be served. I try to take Catherine out at least once a month...even though these tickets were free, it still counts as an outing and oh yes...refreshments will be served. Money is no object with this guy!.........Keep on blogging Bubba!

Hello from big sky country! Beautiful manitoba! How's your belly for spots??? Its just on the sunny side of Zero deg c. We just got back from taking Princess Beagle out for a walk. She was a good girl too!...ever so dainty when she squats to pee and she looks at you like,"Do you mind, my good man, I am trying to yyyyurrrinate!"
Only 25 more points to go!...
I went to the research group today. My creatinine levels (in my yyyuuurine) are at 275. Once it reaches 300, I get to return to the Nephrologist...I think for a surprise. I hope it is an anomally. My C levels have been holding level at 200 for the longest time....high but if it stays there there is no problem and it can stay there for a long time. Well, at least my blood pressure is a little better, not that these pills that they gave me are doing much. I was better off with my old medication for BP. Crap, 57 and I am falling apart. I am determined not to let it get me down though.
Horn fish vase holder......
I got the neatest thing today. A vase in the form of a fish made from a horn (horn of a cow, it think). Margot and Joel sent it to me! And here is the best part...its made in the Phillipines!...I did not know that they had fish type vases made from horns. I love it!!!! I must be loved! Or is it a candle-holder? Pencil-holder? Naw...a vase!
Better go...supper is ready. Keep blogging!

76 th Annual Academy Awards.......
Well, the Lord of the Rings-The Two Towers really cleaned up. It was nominated in 11 and went home with 11 oscars. All in all though it was a pretty average show. Billy Crystal was his usual witty self but there was no spark to it. It was funny when he said that nothing has changed much.... when he started hosting the Oscars, 13 years ago, Bush was president, the economy was in the can and we were at war with Iraq! The bright spot (for Canadians) came when Denys Arcand won the Oscar for best foreign film, "Barbarian Invasions". With the 7 second delay there was no hope for a 'wardrobe malfunction' to spice things up. I must say though, that Angelina Jolie did look smashing in her low-cut Marc Bouwer. One of the award recipients did mention the the USA was going down a 'rabbit hole' in Iraq...one hole which had been gone down before in Vietnam. Prophetic.
Dubya....
Looks like ole George Dubya is in trouble in the polls. If his popularity declines any further he is going to have to move up the capture of Osama Bin Laden! Strangely enough we aren't hearing much about the war (ATTACK) in Iraq lately. Seems that you have to search for any news on the casualties. Speaking of casualties...does anyone know how many Iraqis have died since the USA have invaded Iraq? I heard around 10,000 but that is not something that you will see on CNN.
Travels with Gary....
Looks like Gary is getting ready to move out of Arizona and to the parking lot at the Circus-Circus, Las Vegas. The city of dreams...whatever happens there, stays there ...with your money! That is not necessarily true, though because everyone you talk to there is a winner!....there are no losers in Las Vegas, just people that hesitate to gamble, and they don't hesitate for long. Oh well, there is still shopping. Lots of places to shop...for a new shirt to replace the one you lost at the craps table last night! On second thought, I don't recommend that you leave your RV at all when you get there...everything there is a tourist trap there!!!!! BEWARE the bells and whistles!
Well, better go. Keep on blogging.
