Here we are in Strathmore just east of Calgary. We were here earlier at about 4:30 PM but that was when Catherine found out that she had sost her purse. She figured she might have left it in medicine hat at the tim Horton's . Whe phone d right away but they were too busy to give her anything but a big "I dunno?!...er no I don't think so". Well what to do. We got back in the car after paying for a room...to make sure we had one. then we drove all the way back to Med Hat...about 235 KM. It was there, all the money and credit cards, etc. On the way there Catherine used the cell phone and cancelled her credit cards because there was a chance that her purse was stolen. No big deal, they can be replaced and probably will be in the mail by the time we get back home. Well we did like the scenery between Med hat and Strathmore but that is ridiculous. Off to Kamloops tomorrow. I see that both jack and margot have g-mail accounts now. Later. Bleep Flogging.

We have been spending the best part of the day packing/preparing for our trip out west. I hope the weather is nicer out there. We are looking forward to it. My back is marginally better so I may be able to drive more than I thought....damn. Not that Catherine is a bad driver, on the contrary she is a good driver...its just that she is such a damn good navigator. We'll get out on the highway and I'll say "what highway is this that we are on?" and she will say"The Trans-Canada Highway, sir" and she will be right and I shall drive on for 3 days 4 hours and 23 minutes (route plan). Our pace will be leisurely but our mission will be difficult...ignore the scenery captain...full speed ahead!....with overnight pit stops in Moose Jaw SK, Strathmore AB, and Kamloops BC.
Well better go and pack some more....see ya...keep blogging.

They changed something at MTS and my speed on the web has increased significantly! Judging by bandwidth tests I am now running at 1.7 megabits/second. Keuwl..... Real snappy responses. A T-1 line runs at about 1.58 megabits/second....keuwler yet! AND, I got another 256 megs RAM for my laptop. Had a little trouble finding a soDIMM memory board but got one on sale at Staples. Now I am ready for my trip. I got my 'Streets and Trips' route planned. I gave a little seminar to my navigator...so she knows how to glean and use information from the route plan. Its a pretty exacting timetable but I think we can do 'er. Except that some 'rest stops' seem to be in the middle of nowhere...do you have to just sit at the side of the road? Got my reservations done through CAA on-line...got my 'Best Western' priority points card. Chico Marx would say, "the Cars she's a'tuned N' a'ready". I guess basically, through all the input and data stored in my route plan, that fundimentally, I will be uh travelling down the Trans-Canada Highway like west from Winnipeg to uh, Vancouver. I guess that I could have guessed that, I guess, but the software proved me right...an an an it planned rest stops and tells ya when to stop for gas...so there!
Yeah, Gary is right about Mom. I just let her wind me up. It just seems hard to ignore her going on sometimes. I appreciate the support. Today she called because she got her bank statement and there was a deduction for a cheque on there from April and she could not remember writing the cheque. Well, I didn't know either but upon thinking what happened in April I could only suggest that maybe she sent a cheque to Lyn for her wedding? Even though she was determined that it was a cheque to the Norwood Hotel; which she confused with an interac payment. But agreed that it might have been the Cheque to Lyn.....I am sure that it was. But, she did not receive the canceled cheque back yet so she is not entirely convinced. A while ago I convinced her to take the money out of her safety deposit box and put it in the bank...we put some in chequing and because she could get a higher rate of interest at a certain amount in savings, we put some in there to get her over that threshold....well doggies, I could 'splain it to her ten ways to sundown and she still doesn't get it. It only worries me that because I have set up her accounts as joint accounts with me (for easy access in case something happens), that she accuses me one day of taking money from her account. Unlike others who may not be, I have been scrupulous with regards to her money and would be very offended if she thought that I would take even a penny of it. I know she worries about money, why I don't know because she can't take it with her and she sure ain't spending much. I arranged for her to get about $200.00/month from Astra (Dad's old LIF) and she will draw that out completely over 2 1/2 years or so. The $200.00 is her spending money for the month. We buy her groceries and she gives us a cheque when she thinks of it. She doesn't pay for the suppers anymore because they are too expensive and 'not that good' anyways (at $6.00 each what do you expect roast beef and yorkshire puddin'?), so she is getting more groceries. She once had a bad nose bleed while playing cards and her upset friends called her an ambulance. So we convinced her to get Blue Cross for ambulance & semi-private room but but she is regretting it because the $20.00 is a waste and besides she told everyone at the Manor not to call an abmbulance for her again...never. She has called me several times before when she has been ill and I rush over there and take her to the hospital. But I don't want her to wait for me if she is seriously ill. Pay the $20.00/month and call the ambulance!...I just can't be there all the time and sometimes I feel guilty that I am not there because she expects me to be there?....does that make sense? We are going to the West-coast for two weeks and I do feel guilty leaving her. C'est la vie.
Anyhow, I put out my back a bit this afternoon. I have been trying to get the lawnmower started for the last two days and I was determined that I was flooding it, especially since Catherine said to me, "Is it out of gas?".....balls, "of course not, don't you think that I'd check that?" Well I had and it looked like there was enough gas. I was yanking and horking and reefing on the damn starter rope until my back was sore. I sat down and contemplated the situation. Since I had given up trying to start it two nights before, I had called a friend and paid him to cut the grass yesterday.....but now I'll jus checky-poo the gas again...well it could be a little low...oh my goodness gracious (or words to that effect) it was low.....it started first crack but by now my back was killing me. Why had no one told me to check the gas?!? Yeah I know but she didn't insist...had she insisted I might have listened. So you see it is her fault bwahahahaha! Balls..swine lawnmower. I hope my back is better for the trip...A man must drive...must drive...must drive.
We take the dog over to Pat and Paul's place tomorrow evening. I shall miss her terribly over the next two weeks. She is such a joy to come home to (except when i don't make enough noise to wake her!). She comes to meet me wagging her tail and making noise (well, a whine anyways). Better get to bed..its late.
I shall blog on my trip.......I shall!

I just turned 57 years old. My Mother was with us on the weekend, babysitting the dog. Well, I thought it was a good idea at the time. Remember the woman that she 'was'...that disdain in her voice, like boy are you stupid!...why don't you do it this way. Why do you believe what you do...thats silly. Because she does not think like you do...you are wrong. She doesn't believe in charity and says that people take advantage of soup kitchens and that Manitoba Harvest ( a group that hands out donated groceries) is taken advantage of by people that don't really need it..they just get food for nothing. While I agree that there are some people that take advantage of these things when they don't need to, I am sure that for the most part there is a real need out there for these things. I think this is to justify her lack of interest in helping others. Anyhow, it gets me down and the pleasant woman that she has been the last few years has gone AWOL. Not enjoyable to be around...like "Who are you going to get to cut your grass while you are away?" ...57 years old and she thinks I'm an idiot.
Well, anyhow, Gary posts that she is a grand old dame....I'm sure that she can be if she wants to...or maybe she just enjoys winding me up.
On a less darker note. Last night Catherine and I went over to Diana's retirement dinner. The place was chock full of teachers wanting to wish Diana well. I was also going to keep her husband Doug company. Anyhow, as certain teachers are wont to do, there was a 'seating plan' and little place names at each of the tables. NOOO Dennis....a little embarassing because we did RSVP that we were both coming. They called Catherine three times to confirm that she would be giving a little speech about Diana so it was on the over-kill side of organization. It could have been intentional ( I could see that it was Diana's comrades that were throwing the party and maybe they felt I was an outsider?) or it may have been accidental. I don't understand the need for place names and seating plans and that is NOT my type of party anyways. EGADS! can't people sit with whom they want?? So because we were not far away from home and because I thought that it was so crowded that if I stayed I may be sitting by myself in the hall......I left. Came home like a beaten dawg, a victim of organization over-kill. Oh, Catherine did not want me to leave, but I did not want to make a big issue out of it, so I just left. Catherine called me at home to say that there was an extra seat but by then I was settled in with the dog, microwaving a couple of hot dogs...one for me and one for Suzie. Still upset me though, especially while I'm still thinking that my Mom thinks I'm an idiot (but only in what I do, things I say or how I act).
So the grass is getting long because I was waiting for the last minute to cut it before we went away. Well...good plan, but when I went to start the lawnmower, the bloody thing would not start. So here I am up to my arse in Kentucky blue! We called a friend that Catherine used to teach with, who cuts grass in his retirement, and he came over this morning while I was over at the Museum working and he cut the grass. I have asked him to cut the grass while we are gone so you see, I have planned this .....I am still capable at 57....still got it, not an idiot.
Speaking of the museum. We had three groups in this AM. 62 kids and teachers from Arborg, MB. 25 kids and teachers in from Deloraine, MB and a group of 20 alsheimer patients in from Deer Lodge Personal Care Centre. About tears your heart out to see these alsheimer patients. It brought back floods of memories of my Dad and several times I had to turn away because I had tears in my eyes and I did not want them to see that. It is a cruelty that they have been robbed of their memories...You are what life has given you, your dreams your triumphs, your ups, your downs and if you can't remember anything, then what are you? ...its like a roller coaster ride that only goes flat and level not up and down.
Well, we leave Sunday for the west-coast. I hope that the weather is nicer than it has been here. Mind you, next week it is supposed to be in the thirties here and it will probably be cooler out west....we are bringing the bad weather with us! nyah nyah
Any bets on the election? I am calling for a Liberal minority and I think that would be a good thing for a while....the NDP can get some leverage in getting their good ideas through. Rembember when the CCF (fore-runner of the NDP)and Tommy Douglas, who never held power, but in a minority goverment role pushed through things like old-age pension, unemployment insurance, unversal social programs like family allowance, and medicare. It could be a good thing for a while. Just save us from the Conservatives!
Well, better go have my nap....I need it! Keep blogging!

Congratulations to my niece's daughter Chelsea for winning the "Spirit of Spenser" award for being the 'best-in-school' at her middle school. We wish her well in high school!
Another gloomy day, chilly too! Swine weather. Its official...this spring was the third coldest on record for Winnipeg. I know that the only good weather in Canada right now is in BC, so it will be nice to go there if only for a vacation. They say that the weather should break soon and it will be hot and dry for the remainder of the summer. Lets hope so. Anyhow, thanks to MS 'Streets and Trips' I've got my route all planned and all the hotels reserved for the trip out west. We will be in Vancouver at approximately 2:57PM (give or take 5 minutes) according to my 'optimised' route. I only hope that there are suffcient Tim Horton restaurants so we can replenish our need for sustenance along the way!
This afternoon I am off to the WCAM. Afterwards we have a 'Retirement dinner' to attend for Diana Fabas-Pirie. She and Doug have been friends of ours for years. Diana has been a princpal for the last 20 years or so and at 55 decided that it was enough. Doug is 64, retired about 10 years ago and has had two heart attacks and some bypass surgery so Diana wants to spend some quality time with him for a change. They have just sold their house and moved into a large 1200 sq.ft., 2 bath apartment. I hope they like it. I know that I would...I hate cutting grass, shovelling snow etc.
We have a mew mayor in Winnipeg. It is Sam Katz, the owner of the local baseball team (The Goldeyes) and all-round charming fella. He is well liked and I hope he does well.
Well, better go and have a bite to eat before I have to leave for the museum. TATA...keep on blogging...if Jamie can do it...

Local Area Network in Australia: the LAN down under.

Yesterday we attended the Humanists of MB Summer Solstice party. It was a fun affair. It was held out in Oakbank at a restaurant. they still allow smoking in the country restaurants!...can you believe it? Anyways, none in our party of 24 smoked. We all mixed and mingled for a while and then ate a meal of roast beast and yorkshire puddin'. mmm, good. After dinner there was a bit o' business and then Catherine, as part of her function as a newly minted marriage commissioner, said a few words of thanks to all for the meal. Afterwards we played Trivial Pursuit with 9 volunteer players, with questions that Catherine had put together with help from the internet. Catherine asked the questions (4 categories and difficulties ranging form 100 point to 500 point). The questions were multiple choice so as not to be too difficult (not my choice). The game wore on until there was a clear winner (we ran out of questions anyway) and a runner up. The prizes were a bottle of wine each 1 alcoholic and 1 non-alcoholic. Anyhow a good time was had by all and it all wrapped up by about 9 PM. Good food, good drinks (cold diet coke!) and good friends....what more could you ask for.
Mother came out to babysit Suzie as Catherine and I attended the peace march in the afternoon too. The march started out at the legislature and after some speeches, proceeded down Broadway, the plan being to turn left at Main Street and left (west) on Portage and left (south) down Memorial blvd. back to the Ledge. But, somewhere around Broadway and Donald the police stopped the march claiming that we had no permit. The march organizer agreed but added that 'we were not officially denied a permit.' After this incident the thought occured to Catherine and I at the same time...breaking the law while holding a 'peace' rally was somehow not right. We dropped out at that point and our thinking was that the march in its 28 years of existence has never proceeded without a permit. The whole thing seemed dissorganized. We did get some people showing interest in the Humanists so all was not lost. there are two pictures of the march below and some pics of the dinner above.....
Keep blogging....What happened to "Look Dad!!! I'm blogging!!! ????
Happy father's day to all you Dads.

First you forget names, then you forget faces.
Then you forget to pull up your zipper.

Here it is Saturday. We are going over to the Legislature for a "Peace March", although we still don't know where we are marching to.
We have already voted in both the advance poll of the Civic election and the Federal election. Since our Mayor Geln Murray has decided to run for the Liberals in St. James, he has left that seat open. We won't be here on the 28th for the Fed election but we thought we might as well do both since we knew who we were voting for.
Harper is not an alternative in the Federal election. Not to put to fine a point on it but he is a neo-conservative, former Reform, big-business lackie, regressive, neanderthal, air-betweeen-the-ears, useless twit who would set all the social reforms of the past 50 years back 50 years!. Vote for the NDP or the Liberals but vote! I'd say vote for the Green Party, except I hate that colour.
Well, better go and protest for peace! The voice in the wilderness says, "Keep on Blogging!"

Here is a picture of me and my brother Gary...he is the stupid-looking one! We are two wild and crazy guys!

A grenade thrown into a kitchen in France would result in Linoleum Blownapart.
-----------
Linoleum Blownapart.....get it? Its a play on words....Napoleon Bonaparte.....get it?....sheesh.
Today started out beautiful but this afternoon has quickly turned to thunderstorms. Boom, Crack, crack, boom there is nothing like a prairie thunderstorm but sure its all fun and games until you get struck by lightning! They had tornado in Brandon the other day. Not to be too alarmist but I think that the world is coming to an end. It was prophesized in the song by the immortal Pozo Seco singers in their 1957 hit song:
"Cargando su pinole, llegó a donde el viejo que contemplaba el fuego." Loosely translated it means the little nightingale lies wounded in the ditch while it rains all over the world...and like the world is coming to an end....ole.
Well I have to go over to return some movies. Last night we saw "Mystic River"...two thumbs up especially for Tim Robbins and Sean Penn. It was an excellant story too...10 all around! We also saw "The Secret Lives of Dentists", an arty film of two married dentists that endure the hardship of sickness and infidelity in their family...it was like almost real in its approach to life...hey it was life! Put it this way the movie strives to reach the lofty heights of mediocrity. Not recommended unless you don't have a life and want to watch theirs!...or you like the sound of the dentist drill! oooohno
I have to run over and get a bottle of wine for a prize at the Solstice Party. We...er, read Catherine have written up a few dozen questions for a Trivial Pursuit game that we will run on Saturday at the party. We are also going to a peace march on Saturday at noon that starts at the Ledge and goes???? somewhere. But that will finish in time to get to the Solstice party by 5:00 PM. I was talking to Margot, who called me on my birthday, and she reminisced about going with us to peace marches when she was young. We took her in her stroller when she was too young and she walked when she was older. You know I think she picked up something from that. I think she learned to care for other people and to speak out for what is right.
Catherine is teaching today but she is off tomorrow. But today we will go over to the Reh-fit Centre. We usually go on Fridays but we are busy and you have to fit it in when you can!
Later...keep on blogging.

When you are dissatisfied and would like to go back
to youth, think of Algebra.
---------
Sounds like Gary has been busy painting and decorating the living room in his house. Send pictures, I have never heard of those colours before...mission beige and clay urn...sounds like Sante Fe adobe mission church kitsch to me. heehee
Well, its been a busy few days and I have to run now to volunteer at the WCAM this afternoon. I think that I will take July and August off from volunteering and relax...just don't give Catherine the idea of repainting the living room!
Later, keep blogging.

Just got back from taking Suzie to the groomers to get her nails trimmed. If there is one place in this whole wide world that she would rather not be, its the groomers at the Vet. She hates to get her nails clipped, especially the front paws. I don't know what it is but she howls and barks and snaps and growls. I don't even like being there when her nails are getting clipped. The groomer just ignores her but I sure couldn't. I tried to trim her nails once and gave up quickly when she snapped at me.
I think we will go to the Reh-fit later today. We did not go on Friday and had to miss on Monday. We got to make up for it. Now Catherine is the one I have to convince to go. Okay, maybe not Catherine but somebody needs convincing! Okay, me...its me, dammit! I hit 5,000 KMS walking in March and I am pushing towards my next goal...5,010 KMS...no no 6,000 KMS. And just think, I don't even have a sponser...seems you can't even take a damn walk in the park unless you are collecting money for MS, Diabetes, heart, lungs, brest, glaucoma, hangnails, dandruff, or incontinence. Makes you feel guilt just walking for fun...FOR NOTHING. Well, call it mutterings of an old curmudgeon.
Better go and get ready.....keep blogging!...people are interested!

Well, here we are at the RV at the lake. We got here about 1:00PM. We would have got here earlier but we had to stop at Skinners for a hot dog. It has been raining up to now but the sun is coming out and the birds are chirpin’….shhh, is that the ruby-throated spruce warbler or is that the yellow-bellied sapsucker? I haven’t really done anything yet because of the rain except put a new winder handle on the rear window which promptly fell off behind the dresser….I’ll find that in 10 years or so. We are surrounded by quaking aspens and they make a pretty, rustling sound when they catch a breeze. There is a little apple tree by the driveway and it is in bloom. There are only about 6 people out of 20 or so at the campground loop we are on, but it is still early on a Friday and I would imagine that a lot more will be coming out soon. The weather is supposed to be cool for the weekend and a bit rainy…but who knows, the weather people are wrong half of the time anyways. Still, nice to be out here with the birds. Because of the wet weather we have been having there are some skeeters out, but I will keep them at bay with my new gadget…a Black and Decker Propane Fogger!…the little bastards don’t stand a chance!
My back is sore. When I went for my annual check-up in May, my doctor said that a 4mm kidney stone showed itself on the x-ray. I hope it doesn’t bother me on the trip out west.
Well better go for now…..I will write more later.

Today was a quiet day. Started off this morning about 9:00AM with a phone call from one of the coordinators of the Town-hall meetings. Apparently there is a little disorganisation. The town-hall that was supposed to be at River-East collegiate was victim of double-booking and will be changed if possible. The town-hall in the North-end at St. John’s High School that was supposed to be on the 18th was moved to the 16th. I think that one of our jobs as moderators was to do some research and come up with some questions for the panel and this was not imparted to us. Well we shall have to see what is going to happen. Life is what happens to you while other people are making your plans. I am getting disillusioned.
Anyhow, it is a rather blustery day but we went for a drive over to the Pelican Lake Golf Club just to see it, then we headed over to the pier in Gimli to take a walk. An amateur orchestra was playing near the pier and we sat and listened for a while. Its too bad that there was not a larger crowd out today, I guess the weather is keeping them away. It sure looked like rain for a while but now I see the sun poking its head through the clouds. Catherine is gone for a walk and Suzie and I were taking a nap. All this fresh air makes one sleepy.
Monday is my birthday. Yup 57 years old Monday. 57 is a magic number. Heinz 57, ’57 chevrolet (cool), there are 57 crayons in the crayola big box, there are 57 letters in the Cyrillic alphabet, there 57 ways to leave your lover….well there was 50 but Jack found 7 more…there is 57 dollars in my pocket, and there is 57 calories in a Jeannie’s Cake.
Catherine just got back from her walk, which is a good thing because the dog and I are starving. Later…Keep on blogging.

For my birthday present, I bought myself a jig-saw. When you get to be my age practical gifts are the best. Besides I could really use a jig-saw...jig-saws are handy...it was on-sale at Home Depot, what can I say! I am a Home Depot junkie. I can't walk around that store without buying something, something useful, something useful that you might use if it ever comes up...and when it is 'on sale'you can't resist!
Today, I have to go over to Canadian tire and get somethings in preparation of going to Gimli's Autumnwood RV & Motel resort on beautiful Lake Winnipeg (one of the largest freshwater lakes in Canada!) and its beautiful beaches and quaint shops, tomorrow. We are going up until Sunday. There are a 100 odd jobs that need to be done there and I cannot sit still without thinking of something to do. Fix this , fix that, cut the grass, trim the bushes, never ends. Is that relaxing or what? Catherine feels that she has to tell me to stop and sit down and relax a bit and I do but it is hard to sit there when there are things to do.
Well, better get going...I will be writing blogs to my laptop and I will post when we get back. Keep blogging!

Well the incredible happened...Jack has posted again. Let's see thats two times in as many weeks! And he has a new template too. Margot has blogged too! woohoo
Speaking of the Air show....hehe...It would have been wonderful if we had not gotten an inch of rain overnight Friday. The result was a very muddy parking lot (field) at the show. My feet and legs up to my knees were covered Red River gumbo. My sandals will never be the same. Of course to make matters worse those pin heads in their SUVS figuring that they can go anywhere were getting stuck because golly, once you are down to your axle....you aint going anywhere! However, staying out of the 'wet spots', the Taurus and I did not get stuck....what a car!
Looks like we are going out to the lake for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. We have to be back for subbing, 2 town-halls (Catherine is moderating one and I am moderating the other), a birthday, a couple of appointments, a peace march, the Humanist Solstice dinner, volunteering at the WCAM. June is a busy month. It will be nice to get away to BC for those two weeks.
Well better go, Keep blogging!

Forgive me 'Big Eye in the Sky' for I have sinned...it has been 5 days since my last blog.
I got busy on the weekend. I worked both days of the air-show. The museum had a cf 100 "Canuck" (no not a jolly one!) on display and we also sold tee-shirts and pins and hats from the museum. I suggested it so I got the privelege of toting the darn stock back and forth both days and staying out there to make sure everything went smootly. Well I could have come home for a couple of hours on Saturday but i just loved talking to the people that came around to see the old bird (the canuck!). We brought out some engines too. We had a 'double wasp' (Pratt & whitney 4000 hp!!), that is the engines that they use in the Canadair water bomber. We also had the Orenda jet engine that was used in the Canuck. Anyhow, all in all it was a very full two days and I was Poooooooped, it was all I could do to crawl into my lazyboy and be a lazy boy until bed-time. Then Monday I had to take in the booty from the sale at the air show. We made $2,500.00 ...not bad eh? We don't make that much in the gift shop at the museum in a month! I also had a meeting at the museum and I had to run some errands....so all in all I was a busy boy. Oh yeah, I also had to take the frikkin' Ford in to see about the lights coming on by themselves. That kind of stuff scares me..its like the damn car is possessed. Maybe it should be re-possessed!
Not sure but I think the car is fixed now. They did a re-alignment 'cause it was drifting to the right, checked the lights and fixed them, tightened some bolts...charged me nothing. Its nice to have a good garage to count on.
Well, thanks Gary for calling Mom on June 3rd, I talked to her too and she appreiates it! Better go for now ...keep blogging!!!

You don't marry someone you can live with,
you marry the person who you cannot live without.

Hey It was nice to hear from Tena. She entered a note on my guestbook! Whe is now my favourite Niece-in-law!
The pictures below are of our new (old) trailer parked up at Gimli, which is situated on Lake Winnipeg. Gimli is a picturesque little town settled by Icelanders 120 years ago. They do a lot of sailing up there and there is a great beach. Anyhow, the pics are out of order...showing the trailer last. Thats how it goes.
Nice to read Gary's blog with pics of Grandma and Grandpa attending Benjamin's school. What a good idea. Looks like fun too.
Well better go, I have to work all day Saturday and all day Sunday at the Air show. So nitey-nite. Keep blogging damn it!

This is the dining tent that we struggled with for a couple of hours. The picnic table is inside. Looks like a way-station on the way to Casablanca. LOL

This is the master bedroom...note the twin beds! That's Suzie's bed in the middle. Catherine is reading and this is just before she threw a shoe at me!

Here we are at the lake. We got here last night at about 8:30. We only had an hour or so of daylight left. We had the car packed up tight. I did not think that the car could hold so much stuff! By the time we got the car unloaded it was almost time for bed. Upon opening the trailer it had a musty odour. We opened all the windows and that seemed to help. I guess that it was not used much last year and only opened once since it over-wintered. Today is a beautiful day and we have all the windows and vents open to air the place out. It is supposed to go to 25 deg C but it has not got there yet. The dining table breaks down into a large bed and that is where we slept last night. Tonight we shall try and sleep in the twin beds at the other end of the trailer and see what that is like. We both have been busy, busy doing all the jobs that have to be done. We are also discovering how to operate things like the hot water heater, the propane stove, the coffee maker, the vacuum. Catherine has finished the kitchen and is working her way north. Me and the dog are working our way south. Suzie has met the neighbours cat and for the first time in a long time she let out a howl…LOL…. She hasn’t howled for a very long time. She seems to love it here cocking her head at the birds chirping and all. I have to set up the dining tent now and then I have to go back to the city for a Ham (Humanist) meeting. BTW I have call forwarding so if you call my home line it patches out to my cell phone even if we are in Gimli. Later…tata

Well, setting up the dining tent was a difficult job. Thanks to our new best friends Brian and Roz who helped us put it up, we could not have done it without them. Of course Brian and I wanted to sort out the tubing (over which the tent canvas is draped) before we proceeded…doing in a clear logical way and Catherine and Roz said that probably the best way to do it was to start from the bottom up. They kept saying this quite loudly as we men were thinking and thinking. Sell it seems that it was better to do it from the ground up and see what pieces we had left over. Anyhow after much struggling and with a person at each corner, the tent was erected. It kind of looks like a sheiks tent with the strips and all and the netting does not quite reach the ground so I don’t know how effective a dining tent it will be.
Anyways, as I was talking to Brian I noticed that my car running lights came on all by themselves. How could this happen???…it’s a Toreass that’s how!!! Anyways I had to disconnect the battery before it drained and when I drove to the city for my meeting at 5:00pm I had to disconnect the battery again….swine car ! I guess that I will have to be disconnecting the battery every time I park it at the air show over Saturday and Sunday. Won’t that be fun, people will think that I am stealing the damn car…open hood, connect battery, start car , drive off. Well tomorrow is another day…at least nobody will steal my car overnight!
It was nice to hear from Margot when she called tonight. Says she is a hockey nut now and watches the Calgary/Tampa series as an avid sports fan!
Later…tata

Well, here I am blogging before I have to get over to the Diabetes Research Group. We are going out to our campsite at the Autmnwood, RV Park (and motel). This used to be called Gimli Campground but they changed it when they upped the price (and since Mom and Dad had a campsite there 30 or so years ago!)...it sounds more 'upscale'. How about this for a campsite name 'Wind in the Willows'...no ...how about 'The Little Trailer on the Prairies'...goodnight, John-boy...how about...'Passion among the Pines'?...well now you're talking. How about 'Gimli Goose Guestahaus'...'Shangraloo'? 'Suzie's Roost'? Anyways you should see the amount of stuff that we are taking out there. Of course this is our 'initial' stocking trip and there will be more stocking type trips. There is a charcoal BBQ there, I just have to remember how to use it!.!. There are a couple of storage bins out there that will come in handy. There is a nerf football...that will be kept for use when Jamie and Andrew are here! We will be able to have them out there..the trailer is supposed to sleep 6 but you probably would have to stack a few! They also left a couple of bicycles there too...everybody has bicycles there.
Better go, keep on blogging. See Gary's blog to see what they are up to in Victoria! Click here!

Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

I was talking to Mom the other day and she was saying that this June 3rd would have been Mom and Dad's 65 th anniversary had he lived of course. Because of this she is a little more sentimental than normal and it would be nice if people could call her on that day and cheer her up. Its on days like this and the anniversary of Dad's death that she gets a little depressed so do what you can if you can.

Many sages swear by meditation. I'm inclined to believe them. Staring
at a wall for 16 hours just before bedtime can be very relaxing.
-Tourist visiting the 'wailing wall' in Jerusalem.
----------------
Now we have to convince Jack that he should rename his site to " the Ouseys from Tishomingo Page". All the news thats fit to print from the heart of Southern Oklahoma. Well, he probably won't post much either way but it was worth a try.

Here is another oil painting done by Buckley Ousey circa 1885 called "Bringing in the Catch" Click on it to view in a different window...it wont be bigger but it will be in a different window!

Welcome to my new blog. Since Gary has revamped his blog to the Ouseys in Vitoria page I thought that I would continue the theme and change mine to the Ouseys in Winnipeg Page. Say I love Gary's new template too. Verrrry nice...must be one of the new ones. I have a lot invested in my blog and am loathe to change the template now...but maayybee.
Well we delivered the FLY to the new owners and took possession of the "Superfly". Now we just have to clean it up and make it ours. I wonder what Gary uses to condition his holding tanks? We bought some stuff but it seems to be more concerned about odour than 'breaking up of solids' I will send pictures of the new (old) unit when I get to taking them so you can be as excited about it as we are.....woowee. Its nothing fancy but it is one that we can afford, so we are happy about it anyway.
Its too bad that June is going to be such a hectic month. With the 'Air Show' this Sat. & Sun., the meetings, subbing teaching, etc., plus the fact that there are 2 elections this month and Catherine is facilitating one and I am facilitating another "Townhouse" on Peace and security. I am doing one in the North end wwith Judy Wasylycia-leis and Dr. Ray Paktigan among others and Catherine is doing one at the Dakota Collegiate with other invited politicians. We are also leaving on our odyssey west on the 27th so we will have to get jiggly with that! In between there we will get out to (we were thinking of calling it) "VALHALLAVAGEN" ...it has a nice ring and kinda snooty like it should be..LOL.
Well better go, the sun is coming up. Since I upped my insulin recently, I have been having trouble sleeping. Anyhow keep blogging!...you've all done very well.......
