Travel Plans
I have made my travel plans for Ottawa. Plane, motel, rental car. I'll be there from July 18 to 23. My wonderful sister, Bunny, found out Dad will be entitled to many services because he is a war veteran. They will pay for his drugs, any medical expenses not covered by Ontario Health, home care, laundry, personal care, someone to give him his medication. And if he needs to go to a personal care home, he gets priority bed access. What a load off my mind. Thanks to my friend, W., who suggested contacting Veterans' Affairs. I hope we can convince Dad to apply for all these services. He is entitled!
Now all we have to do is wait and hope the house buyers' deal goes through and he can go to Ottawa. The buyers have requested an extension of three days until Tuesday. I hope the deal does not fall through. We need to get Dad to Ottawa and away from that woman. She cries and he gives her whatever she wants. I found out that sometimes he was giving her his whole pension cheque and my brother was having to buy him groceries. Elder abuse!
I see by Gary's blog that he has had his leg surgery and is doing well. Looking forward to seeing the Victorian Ouseys in August.
Got to go mow the lawn and water the plants. It's been 30 degrees Celsius plus here for days and the plants are thirsty. I'm so glad I have air conditioning.
