Sold, Old and Gold(digger)

The big news is: I sold the RV! I had three calls this week and finally one made an offer that was just about what I was asking, so I accepted. They came over last night with a certified cheque and we went to an Autopac office to make the change. I'm very glad that is one less thing to deal with.

I went for a routine appointment with my doctor and she is happy with everything. My LDL is below normal which is where we want it to be and my other blood tests were all good. I continue in good health.

My close vision, however, is another matter. My optometrist tells me that it's inevitable that the close vision gets worse as we get older, so now I have special reading glasses. About this getting old thing...I don't like it.

Tomorrow I have my yard sale. I've hired two high school students from Afrique 2007 to help me. I hope I get rid of lots of stuff and make a fair bit. My basement is FULL of boxes. If I still have lots of stuff left after the sale, I'll have another one in September. Thanks to my daughter for helping me price things and for making my signs.

I decided to go and visit my Dad who lives in Saint John NB, but when I called him he told me he has sold his house!!! He's moving to Ottawa!!!! He has no place to move into yet and my sister who has MS is a bit stressed and worried that he'll expect to stay with her. I think I will be going to Ottawa before I go to BC so that I can help him find a place to stay. I'd love to get him into a seniors' apartment block, but they probably have waiting lists. I'm reading between the lines here, but I think the big romance with S. is probably over. Wasn't there a saying about an old fool... If it is over, I can't say I'm sorry - what did a woman in her early 50s want with an 82 year old man anyway. She's younger than I am!!!! Forgive me for thinking she was a golddigger, but, he did spend a lot of money on her. Now that they took away his license and he can't drive her everywhere, I guess she kissed him goodbye. The buyers of his house take possession on July 15, so I guess he'll have to be out by then.

I sure am doing a lot of traveling this year. Speaking of traveling, Gary's latest blog post has info and pictures from their Baltic cruise. Great to hear about it. They will have lots of good memories. I see by Jack's blog that his dog Lucky has gone to the great big Kennel in the Sky. Bye, bye good dog. Welcome to the new dog, Zoe.

Well, good night all - have a great weekend.

Wisdom doesn't automatically come with old age. Nothing does - except wrinkles. It's true, some wines improve with age. But only if the grapes were good in the first place. - Abigail Van Buren
