Pink Floyd goes Kapow on Canada Day

Here we are at the lake.   We got here Friday morning.   Thursday we called the RV Park and they told us it was flooded and to not come out because they were pumping the water out.  All was well by Friday though and we found the trailer high and dry.  The ground is still soggy but I can live with that.

There were Canada Day celebrations going on in Gimli Friday including a free pickerel feast, but unfortunately we just missed it.  There were fireworks and the boats in the harbour were decked out in Canada flags, etc.

Friday night the neighbours decided to entertain some friends until 2 am.  They had a guitar and were having a gay ole sing song.  You haven't lived until you hear Pick Floyd's 'Another Brick In the Wall' at 2 am when you are trying to sleep.  Anyhow, today we complained and so did others, so they are now swearing that it was unintentional and that they will NEVER do that again.   We'll see.  I must say (and Catherine agrees with me) that I showed much restraint by not getting up and telling them to be quiet (in the politest terms possible, of course).    Oh, I thought of it....something like, "Hey you insufferable Knobheads, who wants to hear Pink Floyd at 2 in the morning???  Don't you know any Jimi Hendrix or Led Zeppelin????"  And perhaps I might have gone straight over there, naked except for my new silk-like red boxer shorts with the golden dragons on them!....If anything, that would have scared the shit out of them!  Anyhow, it sure is quiet tonight....not a peep.

Its back to the city tomorrow because Catherine has a doctor's appointment early Monday morning and then I have to get a chest x-ray done (as part of my annual physical).   Catherine wants us both to have haircuts and she is suggesting that I go to her hair stylist.  Not sure about that.  We probably wont get back out to the lake until Friday because Mom has an appointment with the optometrist on Thursday and we have agreed to take her there.  She thinks that she needs new glasses.

I heard on the radio that there was so much rain on Tuesday and Wednesday that there were septic tanks bursting out from the ground.  Apparently the ground was so soggy and air gets trapped in the tanks and kapow!   And NO, they did not explode!   Our basement was dry but they say that hundreds of others had basement flooding.  The floodway is wide open and there is some sandbagging going on but just in those areas that are perennially prone to flooding.

Later, all.
