George Erickson
Last night Catherine and I attended a slide show by the author of "True North", George Erickson. The above link will tell you about the author and there is also a link to his book "True North". It was quite interesting. All about exploring the great Canadian north by bushplane and some of his thoughts on religion. We bought his book and look forward to reading it. Several other members of the Manitoba Humanists were there. The talk was held at the Unitarian Church. Unitarians are a group that believe in some form of higher power but are not dogmatic in their approach...someone last night described them as freethinkers that are a as far as you can get from a religious group and still call yourself a religion. Everyone was so nice and friendly.
Yesterday was a beautiful sunny day and it got to 16 deg c. We were out raking leaves ( well Catherine did the raking!) and got 8 big bags just in the front yard! The leaves haven't fallen in the backyard yet. Today it is supposed to be sunny and go to 17 deg c.
We are planning on attending a rally today in support of same-sex marriages. It is being held in front of the legislature at 1:00 PM.
Well, better get busy on the NYT X-word puzzle ..............I hope Gary is getting them 'cause I keep sending them.
We wouldn't want this would we...?
"CINDERELLA"
Challenged in court by Hawkins County, Tennessee parents and decreed by a U.S. District Court Judge to "indoctrinate students in secular humanist beliefs."
Tomorrow is another day........
